Help: looking for... Waterworld - Extended Version

Just wondering if anyone here has a decent copy of the Waterworld Extended Version?

It was first shown on USA’s ABC in 1998, repeated in 2000, then again on Encore in 2002. The Extended Version contains an additional 40 minutes than the theatrical release, footage supposedly cut against the will of the director, Kevin Reynolds.

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

Apparently it was a really good movie before Universal and Kevin Costner hacked it to pieces to get the two hour theatrical version. Plus I dunno why, but I liked the movie anyway!

I agree it's cool and would love to see an extended version, but wasn't it obvious that dry land was the top of everest, if there is only one bit a dry land what else could it be?

Wasn't obvious to me but it has been a long time ago since I've seen that movie.

I, personally, love Waterworld, and can watch it from beginning to end.

Is this the version that shows the plaque on top of Mount Everest at the end?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I've seen this version on TV. Didn't even realise there was another, plaque-less version.

I've heard about this too but didnt realize there were dvds of it floating around. Someone should take this extended cut and restore the edited scenes/dialogue that was censored for the network tv broadcast (as mentioned in the link in Gillean's previous post)

but even if it wasnt uncensored, Im still interested to see this extended cut.

I noticed this aired recently on ION and it was correctly letterboxed at 1:85 to 1, and looked quite nice.  Is this the same as the recently released DVD?  I read a review of it (the dvd) and it supposedly has a lot of EE and doesn't look so good.  It looked good on ION.

Is this topic still active?

Anyone?

I prolly still have my SciFi rip somewhere but I figured it was no longer needed.

I downloaded the two DVD set of the ENCORE presentation from a few years ago, but of course it's pan and scan.  I have the recent airing from ION on my TIVO, but could use the space on the hard drive if it's the same as the official DVD.  That's why I was curious.  But I have no way of transferring it right now.

Best!

The TV cut is the version on the recently released DVD. You don't really have anything to gain anymore from capping a TV airing.
