Have I missed something...who is this Kira you guys speak of?

Overall I thought it was a good episode, although i was a little bugged about the cliff hanger ending...

Tigh's daydream certainly made me hold my breath for a second.

Kara is probably an Earthling double of herself, sent out on one of Earth's brand new Vipers and got her self lost, once she got close to the Galactica the memories of her alternative life kicked in and she forgot all about her life as an Earthling.

This episode was alright. I am expecting and hoping that this season will be a little better than season three. S3 started off promising enough, then it caved in on itself. By the end of it I was so sick of hearing endless discussion about the "final five" I just wanted to click the TV off every time it was mentioned. Since there are only what, 19? episodes left of the series, I am hoping they will make the majority of them count. The season premier was nothing spectacular, but it did not disappoint, it was entertaining and I enjoyed watching it, which is all I hope to get out of a TV show. I don't need huge twists and tons of action, just don't bore me.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I FELT A LITTLE BORED WHILE WATCHING AN EPISODE OF BSG. NOW, DON'T GET ME WRONG. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN EPISODE THAT I DIDN'T LIKE.

ROSLIN BEING THE FIFTH CYLON WOULD MAKE SENSE. I THINK THAT SHE'S THE MOST LIKELY CANDIDATE AT THIS POINT. HELL, WHAT IF IT WERE ADAMA? NOW THAT WOULD BE A TWIST.

Or they will get to Earth and it will turn out that everyone from the colonies have all been Earth or Kobol manufactured robots with reproductive capabilities all along. Everyone except for Roslin that is, it will be revealed that she has been some strange evil alien entity bent on world domination from the very start.

My vote is that Tom Zarek (Richard Hatch) will be the final Cylon.

I came across this post on the BSG forum at trekbbs.com - certainly another possibility...

"OK, I was not one to really try and figure out the final cylon model but I ran across a few things that may help in determining the fifth cylon.

At the end of season 3 the four hidden cylons come together because of the constant hearing of Along the Watchtower in their heads. OK, so I did a read through of the lyrics - nothing really struck me and if there was something there, it was deeper then I had the energy to dig.

I then did a google search of meanings to the lyrics and such, I came across this theory that the song was based on an old Twilight Zone episode called "Five Characters in Search of an Exit". That struck me as odd and coincidental. 5 hidden cylons, 1 remaining.

The opening narration of he episode is this:

Clown. Hobo. Ballet Dancer. Bagpiper. And an Army Major. A collection of question marks. Five improbable entities stuck together into a pit of darkness. No logic, no reason, no explanation. Just a prolonged nightmare in which fear, loneliness, and the unexplainable walk hand in hand through the shadows. In a moment, we'll start collecting clues as to the whys, the whats, and the wheres. We will not end the nightmare, we'll only explain it, because this is the Twilight Zone.

And, interestingly the closing is this:

Just a barrel, a dark depository where are kept the counterfeit, make-believe pieces of plaster and cloth, wrought in the distorted image of human life. But this added, hopeful note: perhaps they are unloved only for the moment. In the arms of children there can be nothing but love. A clown, a tramp, a bagpipe player, a ballet dancer and a major. Tonight's cast of players on the odd stage known as the Twilight Zone.

OK, so two things - in the arms of children there can be nothing but love - representing that the five are worshipped by the other cylons who can be considered the children of man.

Secondly, if you try and place the now unhidden 4 in the roles of the 5 character types in the episode, possibly we can figure out the fifth hidden cylon.

The 5 dolls in the episode are a major, a tramp (hobo, not slut), bagpiper, ballerina and clown.

Now are Galactica foursome are: Tyrol, Tigh, Anders and Tory.

1) Bagpiper: Chief Tyrol. Why? there is a bagpipers tune called the green hills of tyrol. No other reason for me anyway
2) Ballerina: Tory...why? the role she performs for Roslin is that of aide and media spin artist, deftly dancing among the issues to protect Roslin.
3) Clown: Tigh, one definition of a clown is a rude, ill bred person. Tigh certainly is wanting in manners at time.

That leaves major and tramp. Let's for the moment that the rank of the army soldier is irrelevant, that it is simply a military man. And tramp can be any one without a home or means of support.

4) Major: For the sake of argument lets put Anders here because he is a newly minted pilot and military man.

That leaves, tramp/hobo. So who among the characters that we know is not at home among humans, cylons, relying on the good graces of others to survive?

I don't know, I realize this is an odd thread and line of thought, but what the hell, it might lead somewhere. There just seemed to be a couple of coincidences and I got intrigued.

Your thoughts?"

So did you guys get one or two episodes for the season starter?
It was just broad casted here in the UK as a double bill.

Also there seems to be something you've all missed. The inter species baby with Helo and whoever (I forget ..Boomer model?!?!)...well anyway, now there's two of them. Chief also has a child with his missus....or did the baby die...Man, my memory is so bad!

I don't Tyrol has really thought about things in that sort of detail yet. He's still too busy swapping glances with Tigh and Foster. Little Nicky is fine as far as I recall.

I guess [sadly] that Tigh will stop going around shouting "She's a frakking Cylon!" at every opportunity now.

The season premiere was a two-parter that was split over two weeks, "He That Believeth in Me" and "Six of One." Do you mean they showed it as a 2-hour episode in the UK, a la "Occupation" and "Precipice" of Season 3?

Anybody watched the extended cut of unfinished business?

The extended "Unfinished Business" is overall much better, but the pacing does fluctuate a bit. It actually explains Starbuck/Tigh's relationship in early Season 3, too.

And we all break our TV screens by throwing our remote controls in rage as we reallize we have stuck with this show since 2003, only to be given a lame and predictable ending.

I originally got into this show because i found it interesting, But this episode [4x03] did absolutely nothing for me. I predicted the ending far too early and just got bored with it, I hope things pick up in coming episodes.

IT WAS PRETTY OBVIOUS I HAVE TO AGREE. I STILL LIKE THE EPISODE THOUGH. I ACTUALLY LIKED CALLY'S CHARACTER, SO I HATED TO SEE HER GO OUT THAT WAY.

Yeah I kinda liked the character too but I've gotten used to that sort of thing - they killed of Kat right when i started to like her. Just a little worried too because there aren't that many episodes left.

I could tell she was going to come to a bad end, She was becoming a threat to the Cylons. The question is, what will happen if / when Tyrol finds out what Foster did.

Also been thinking about the final Cylon, I'm sure there are probably a lot of clues I've missed but there are two main things I've been thinking about.

Leoben once said 'Adama is a Cylon' - but if that were the case then he couldn't possibly know about it, so we can probably strike that comment...

The other is that if the final Cylon were someone in the colonial fleet then they'd surely have heard the music too [watchtower] so It's safe to assume that it's not anyone else on Galactica. And I think it's also safe to assume that if it were anyone presently in the fleet they'd be acting odd right about now....

Not trying to narrow it down just yet, just mulling things over.

btw guys, I don't mean to be a dick but it's Cally not Kali. I just see one person make a typo and others run with it. ;)

Oh yeah - does anyone else find it odd that in the main group of cylons there are 7 distinct models yet one of those is referred to as 'number 8' [Sharon] ?
Author
Time
I NOTICED THAT TOO. IT DOEN'T ADD UP. IF THERE ARE 12 MODELS WITH 5 MODELS BEING UNKNOWN TO THE CYLONS THEN THERE CAN ONLY BE 7 MODELS WALKING AROUND THE BASESTARS. SO, WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH #8? SHE'S CLEARLY NOT ONE OF THE FINAL FIVE.

This season seems to be following the path of season three. Endless conversation about the final five, and endless back and forth debate on various issues within the fleet. Just the same thing over and over. I am not one of those guys that needs endless action and explosions to keep interested in something, dialog is fine, but when you feel that you have heard it all before it wears thin. Can't say I am anywhere close to sorry this is the last season. I was really hooked on this show for the first two season, now it remains on my recorder for days before I decide to watch it. Hopefully it will pick up again soon.

I seem to be the only one who think the show's just as great as it ever was - I've has no problems with any of the episodes this season. I did call Cally's death when they showed the preview last week, but I was still hooked.

By the way, the Cylon numbers are as such (the last few became known in the first episode of this season):

Number 1 = Cavil
Number 2 = Leoben
Number 3 = D'Anna [boxed]
Number 4 = Simon [who we NEVER see]
Number 5 = Doral
Number 6 = Six [obvious]
Number 8 = Sharon

Numbers 7 and 9-12 are the Final Five. I'm guessing Tigh, Anders, Tyrol and Tory are 9-12, and the final cylon is 7, since the number 7 often has special meaning in religion and fiction.

Although I'm sure the real reason for the last of the "significant 7" being number 8 is that when they mentioned Sharon's number back in season 2, they hadn't had the whole "Significant Seven/Final Five" thing planned out to the degree they do now.

Ash, We've seen plenty of Simon...

I wouldn't assume at this point that the unknown Cylon is the number 7 or somehow special. the final Cylon could be almost anyonebut then since this is television it will probably be the most shocking revelation, So probably someone we expect the least.

I'm kinda hoping they [6's et al] manage to revive the 3's.

I'd say they must have just had to roll with sharon = 8 since that was established early. it just seems odd, especially since they are [for whatever reason] not meant to think about the other 5.

I wonder how thngs would have played out differently if Cally hadn't killed "Boomer".

the number 6 model has also gone by several other names so far.
