Sneak off into the woods when their backs are turned and act overly suspicious. Then when one of then discovers you, you lie to them, knock them out when they turn their back on you in, and leave them bleeding in the jungle. Then in the end it all turns out it was one big misunderstanding and that the plan all along was to disable an island wide chemical weapon in order to prevent the possiblity of the others wiping everybody out with it. What was up with Daniel's "I don't think I can go through with this"? The whole thing was a really dumb fake out. Would have made more sense if they simply said that there is a chemical weapon they need to disable because that creepy Ben guy was psychotic enough that he might actually use it.

Agreed. And then Juliet acts as if it all made perfect sense. I can only hope that they were hiding something truly sinister, but I doubt it. This wouldn't be the first time this show has gone out of the realm of believability in order to try and trick the audience. The very beginning of this episode had a brilliantly performed trick by comparison, making us think that Juliet was the last of the oceanic six. All in all this was a good episode, but lame at points.

Ha, I didn't even realize that was what they were trying to do! My friend told me who the oceanic six were before the season even began, so I guess I already knew she was not one of them and so I instantly assumed it was a flashback.

It really sucks to have an episode as good as "The Constant" sandwhiched between crap like "Eggtown" and "The Other Woman". Oh well, at least when the show sucks it is not hard to wait a week for the next episode.

As did I. It wasn't until my wife watched it later and made the comment about being the last of the six that it occured to me what they were trying to do.

She was indeed mate.

Think she may have been in ER for a few episodes too - though could be my memory playing tricks on me, and a LOT of actors have must have appeared in ER by now

You know, when a season is 23 episodes long, a crappy episode every now and then is to be expected. But when you only have 13 episodes in a season, you don't want to screw around with a bunch of crappy episodes, and that is exactly what we are doing this season with Lost. I am still trying to decide which episode was worse, this one or last weeks. Last week a lot of nonsensical nonsense took place, this week absolutely nothing took place. So the question is, which is more preferable, a retarded nonsense episode last weeks, or an pointless episode where nothing happens, like this weeks? Either way, they are just pointless filler, and you know something is wrong with a show when over half the episodes are pointless filler episodes.

Compared to the beginning of season 3 all of these episodes have been pretty good. This last episode was even better than many of the ones we got in season 2 if you ask me.

It was clear in season 2 that the show was going to focus on the characters in a more in-depth fashion. I was extremely frustrated with that at first, since I liked how stuff actually happened in the first season (I liked the plot more than the characters), but I care about the characters enough to where I'm okay with it all now.

well, I enjoyed this episode, I thoight it wan much better than last week.

I don't get the Tombstone tho - the date on it was 2004, So unless Jin dies in the next few days it can't be true. We DO know that Jack and Kate are keeping up a lie about what happened on he island [oceanic 6 et al].

Is Jin still alive?

It is sometime in December 2004, do we know the exact day? It will likely remain 2004 for the remainder of the season, I imagine he dies on island, and if the layout of the remaining seasons is as Lindleoff has said, then he will die sometime this season.

They have only been on the island since the end of September, so even Analucia, Libby, Echo, Niki and Palo have died just a matter of weeks ago. Charlie has only been dead a few days and he kicked the bucket the end of last season. In other words, yeah, Jin is going to die in just a few days. I'd give him a week at the most, but to us it will either next week, or sometime in April, May, or June.

This episode didn't suck as much as last weeks, but I felt like they went WAY out of their way to trick us again. Sure glad this didn't end of being "the mini-finale" that would have sucked and ended this run on a very low point. Next week's episode should be good, it will also be the last episode untul the end of April.

I don't think Jin is still alive, I think this will be his last season. I have feared for Jin's life every since the actor got that DUI. DUIs for actors are typically the end their character when it comes to Lost. I really thought Jin would make it off island and die sometime in the flashforward. I was surprised.

From what I read on the Lost timeline, it was Christmas eve when Desmond called Penny from the boat, but it was actually the day AFTER Christmas on the island. The date on Jin's tombstone was September 22nd, the date of the plane crash. So it would appear that The Six are telling everyone he died on the plane. I guess whether he's really dead or not is up for debate.

Ah, I didn't even think of that, of course it would have his death date as the date of or around the crash, especially if he is suppose to be one of the eight that "Kate pulled out of the ocean" but who she couldn't save.

Uh, did anyone else find it kind of creepy when Hurley asked Sun if there was anyone else coming and when she responded with "no" he very suggestively responded with "good". That has got to have been there for a reason. Please don't tell me Hurley romping with the widowed Sun now.

re: Hurley, I think that has more to do with how is is dealing with things. Remember when he won the lottery? He's going to be more of a celebrity as one of the oceanic 6.

A friend was asking me where I'm up to since she missed the last aired episode here in OZ, I went to lookup online and found this interesting - A poll on the best episode of the season. At least it seems everyone agrees...

Given the date on the Tombstone i'd say something is definitely up.

Okay Sage, take a deep breath, look at the date, realize what day it is, exhale, and put an end to your contempation. Lost is back in just a few weeks.

What are you even talking about? It is coming back at the end of this month. Hardly anything to get pissed off over. There was a huge possibility that they were not even going to get to finish this season of the show, you ought to be thankful that you are not having to wait until 2009 for episode 9 and beyond. If you should be pissed off about anything, it should be the three episodes that we lost since they had to reduce the season from 16 to 13 episodes. The wait will be over before you know it, and if you look on the bright side, your Lost enjoyment for the year will seap over into June rather than be over by May.

It was quite a sensationalistic episode. A lot of stuff happened to be sure and if you like Ben (as I do) it was great. I like how the mystery seems more complex than where they were going before (the tension between Ben and Widmore), but, all in all, I would have liked some answers offered between all of that.

Man, the last episodes of the first pod of season four really had me feeling like I could care less about this show anymore, now I am completely back into it. Hope they give us what we deserve after our long wait and the unfortunate shortening of the season and makes this last batch really worthwhile.

Wow, people are dropping like flies - it almost feels like Battlestar galactica;)

I was pretty happy with this episode. it managed to keep things interesting, something that most of season four hasn't managed to do so far.

Yeah, I really didn't see all of those people dying all of a sudden. And are we to assume everyone was wiped out at the barracks aside from Ben, Locke, Miles, Hurley, Sawyer, Claire, and Aaron? (All the no-name characters who followed them to the barracks are dead?)

I think somewhere in the rest of this season, we'll get a little more insight into how the Others are able to get off the island. I've got a pretty good theory on that (take a look at the Orchid orientation vid from the S3 DVDs if you haven't).

We already know Hurley makes it back to the beach eventually and that he's sorry he went to the barracks in the first place, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out in the next few episodes.

On a side note, does anyone else have problems watching the streaming video from abc.com? My HD recording was filled with tons of dropouts so I tried watching the latest episode online. It was really choppy and I had to turn it off after a couple minutes.
