Jambe, my girlfriend got me the Star Wars Vault - so if you've not yet gathered anything from that source, I can take a look for you, maybe scan some stuff. There's some cool material in here.

Yeah, it's sitting at my girlfriend's house at the moment, I couldn't take it the other day as I had to head straight to work. However, I'm just doing a first flick through checking out all the pictures and inserts and I'm somewhere around ESB. It's a great thing to see all this Star Wars paraphernalia that was around before I was born / when I was a kid (I was a 1987 baby).

I do hope there's some stuff worth using in there. Have fun reading/looking at it.

Hopefully will be spending a bit more time here now (no - don't all run away )

It's not back... It never went away. My crawl creator friend is going through a rough time so I have ask him if he can correct it in time for the final release.

Unlike you to post before you read the blurb Sluggo

Remember to rate and comment please folks!

No worries, of course. I figured it would have been something akin to this. Any chance we could see the full crawl as a bonus feature with a Korngold temp track?

You remember this Trooperman quote from a year back...
My second point is that this is by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, whose music was the inspiration for John Williams AND George Lucas as well. This is a little known fact, but George Lucas bought an album called "The Sea Hawk", a recording of Korngold's film music by Charles Gerhardt, and it was this that inspired him to request the same type of score from J. Williams- he even mentioned "The Sea Hawk" in the conversation.

The main title music I have used comes from this same album that was the original inspiration in the first place.

And finally, it's very possible that this was actually the main title theme used in the original TEMP TRACK for Star Wars- notice the similarity to the original Star Wars theme.

I will of course be including it as a separate bonus item. Thanks for reminding me of that post. If any kind soul wants to send me that track, please don't hesitate.

Thanks

why not use the re-recording of the sea hawk title supervised by george korngold, wolfgang's grandson.

the original recording was released on cd it is mono and has a lot of hiss on it even though the release claims to have been remastered.

i always thought the temp track over the opening was mars the bringer of war by holst but that is just me.

Thanks for the sneak preview JD.

Looking great already, can't wait to see everything when it's finished.

That is a BIG teaser of what's to come though.

There is another Korngold sound track that sounds even more like Star Wars. It is the sound track to the film Kings Row (1942). The main theme contains a refrain that is very close to the main Stars Wars theme. You can hear a little clip of it on the Amazon website here. The refrain I'm refering to is played at about 11 seconds in.

This is the piece I was referring to, the King's Row main title. And it actually looks like I was correct, because I was just on the Intrada website looking at the new release of "King's Row" and "Sea Dog", and the press release says that this piece was indeed inspiration for the Star Wars theme.

I can get you the famous 70's Gerhardt recording if you still need it.

Thanks Adywan.

But alas, some bad news from my camp. This project is officially on hold. Life is currently taking precedence. I'm not sure for how long but my priorities have to change.

Thanks for you patience and continued support.

It is January 1st, JD, not April 1st. Nice try!

Actually, take the time to do it right. Besides, real life is more important than some sci-fi movies anyday.

Best of luck with whatever it is you have going on, JD. We're not going anywhere, so I think we'll survive until you can find the time to finish this project. Hope the situation isn't too grave and that it resolves itself soon.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.
