TOS was filmed in full screen, so there would have to be some tampering in order to make it widescreen. I would think this would also be the case with TNG, DS:9, and Voyager. It made sense to update the special effects of the original Star Trek (because they wanted to re air them in HD), but I am not sure I would see the point of doing the same to the others. I mean honestly, when is enough enough? Can we not accept that a show or movie is from a certian year and enjoy it as that? Things like special effects will ALWAYS be getting better, does that mean we have to constantly be upgrading them in every show and film? George Lucas has fallen into this trap. SW has already undergone two special effects revisions, and I daresay they won't be the last. The idea of a work art never being finished is a futile one, if that is the case how are we every to enjoy it? Might as well say, I'll check it out later, when it is finsihed and no longer a work in progress. Let it be done and enjoy it for what it is. This is Star Wars, a film from the late seventies, notice the model work and the special effects? They were top notch for the day...

Very good indeed.

I finally decided to watch DS9. I watched almost 3 seasons in 10 days. I can even appreciate the Ferengi now. That Quark isn't so bad.
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Started re-watching some episodes from DS9 lately, thought this was rather apt…

Really was a quality series - discussing some topics ahead of it’s time (or what was to come - terrorism, freedom, religion, politics and the more negative aspects - and results - of war). Some superb guest and recurring actors really helped the show too - and some great layered and detailed writing too, of course.

A short, yet cool and quirky, tribute vid to DS9…

Star Trek Deep Space Nine tribute - A Little Less Conversation’:-

Pleasing to see the ‘What We Left Behind’ documentary doing so well too and selling out on the shows, plus getting positive reviews too:-

Plus, intriguing to see how good some of the selected DS9 scenes look in HD as well… (and a real shame it seems we won’t get the whole series in HD anytime soon)

I think there’s too much syndication money left on the table if they don’t remaster the series eventually. Maybe if the costs come down a bit more?

The release of ‘What We Left Behind’ has been delayed a little so that all the actual DS9 footage will now be in HD:-

Another Paramount series, Charmed, (the original, not the new version) got remastered for Blu-Ray recently. The reruns I’ve seen on TNT have always been standard definition. The supernatural series has special effects in every episode. Maybe not as elaborate as a Trek series, but I take it as a hopeful sign.

The original MacGuyver has also been remastered for HD.

We were lucky to even get Deep Space Nine on DVD. There is never going to be a 2K scan and HD version. And they aren’t exactly hurting because the DVD sets sell well for Deep Space Nine and Voyager. There is a demand for the DVD. Is there for the HD. Doubtful a market exists for 100 dollar per season HD remastering on Blu-Ray disc. Trek fans are stingy they aren’t likely to want to pay like 700 dollars per show for a remastering.
