So I hear about this mysterious Phantom Edit, wow that would be cool, I think. Because although i watched that sucker every day for the whole year that it came out on a crappy pirated VHS; i do hate me some Jar Jar. I felt like Tim in the first episode of the second series of Spaced. (if you haven't seen it go find a copy) Anyhoo, years pass and I never can find a copy and internet searches only lead to articles about it, never a way of getting a copy.

More time passes, stars wheel magestically overhead, my hair grows more thin as my belly grows more fat. Then i start the search again and what do I find, that the Phantom was just one of many edits and, so i hear, not even that great. The edit all the kids want is BOTF, and its on flipping youtube just waiting for me!

That's a long way of saying I just discovered this edit and i love it like it was my own interactive astro droid. But where can I get a DVD of it? Does Rikter just give them out willy-nilly, are the DVDs out there an older version of the edit or are they the same as the youtube version but with higher resolution? So many questions I best PM Rikter and see if he likes the cut of my jib.

I'd just like to say thank the force for Magnolia fan, without whom we would never know for sure if Ep I and II (probably III too) are just crap because of George and his bad dialogue and direction, or if we are just too old now. Turns out you are never too old.

I'm just waiting on a correction to be made to the crawl (a typographical error that a fan pointed out) and the Dual Layer DVD of the youtube version of Balance of the Force will be ready to go out... Well, beyond that, I still have to finish the menus and record my commentary, but those are trifles compared to the crawl.
I'm also tinkering with some music while I wait, thanks to "GoodMusician"s complete score releases.

1 and 2 are pretty much done except for some really elaborate stuff that I'm saving for "Well, if I EVER get this to work, then there'll be a third version some day."
I'm waiting on corrections to the Episode I and II crawls before releasing them into the wild.

3 is pretty much done except for the voice work on Grievous. I'm tossing around a few different things on that.

Qui-gon's kinks are all worked out. He has a vocal presence a few times throughout the film and does finally appear as a ghost at the end.

I pretty much had to use the rest of the scene as a reference and build new backgrounds in the computer to reframe the 1 shot and to create a new backdrop for the other. Just fine tuning it for the most part.

I have one wish (if you haven't already done it in your edit):
Now you have Qui-Gon appearing as a force ghost on the Tantive 4.
I would like to see him somewhere in the background when Obi-Wan gives Luke to Beru on Tatooine.
He stands there just watching and believing that someday the prophecy will come true and Anakin will bring balance to the force, with the help of Luke.

You know Spidernap made the best DVD covers for the Magnolia Fan edits. I'm hoping he does one for Episode 3 so that I can finally complete the trilogy. (maybe I'll try to send him a telepathic message, lawl)

I even put my DVDs in white cases. First because they matched color tone of the SpiderNap DVD covers, and second because it separates the Magnolia Fan edits from the rest of the Star Wars films. I wanted something that really stood out and said "these are not the regular prequel movies!" And it appears to have worked. People always notice them on my shelves. As a result I've made dozens of copies of both films.

God Speed Magnolia Fan. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

Wow, thank you guys !! It feels really cool when people like what you do. I can't claim full credit for the covers though, the pencil artwork is not mine, I just put things together. Having said that I'll work on the 3rd cover hopefully in time for the release of the 3rd edit.

Hi MagnoliaFan, and everybody else!

As an aficionado of the original trilogy, I was dismayed to see the quality of the GOUT. I found this site by accident and now find myself really excited about the work some of you guys have done!

I hope to have Darth Editous' "New Hope" done via torrent tomorrow.

"Balance of the Force" is proving harder to find, and aside from Youtube, I can only find an AVI torrent of the movie with 1 seeder and 1 leecher. I sure hope whatever MF has coming next happens soon!

And MF, I wanted to say that I read the review on Salon.com and some other random statements about your edit. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. Whatever number of screenwriters and editors at Lucas' disposal during the 2nd trilogy's development committed nothing less than a travesty of bad plot and character development, not to mention script. Bully for you!

Hmm, could a person or three please add themselves to a torrent hosting "The Clone War" in AVI format? I'm on the torrent now and there are 3 other leechers, all with the same content.

p.s. I hope this isn't an out-of-bounds request.

I have the old avi and DVD versions of Magfan I and II, and I also have "The Magnoliafan collection: The Phantom Re_Edit 1.2" DVD, and something called SW2-Attack of the Clones RE-EDIT_XVID_AC3. I'm pretty sure this is the other magfan re-edit. Does anyone know if this was released on DVD? Was there a cover made for this? I searched for a thread for this edit, but didn't see one.

Is anyone willing to make a copy of the latest versions of the magnoliafan Episode 1 & 2 dvd's and send them out to me? I've been wanting to see this for a while and the avi isn't of DVD quality and it takes a long time to download.
Dunno which ones, if somone's willing to do this, to send out?
such as clone wars or the extended version, suggetions?

Hey all,

I've been a lurker here for years... But these edits are pretty much why I joined.

Anyhow, just a suggestion... When these fancy new versions of MF's DVD's come out, would someone upload them to ADrive, Megaupload, Zshare, even Rapidshare or the like?

I know it would be a big upload (and download), but I find torrents less reliable, and I would think it could reach a broader audience. Just an idea...

I'm still searching for good quality DVDs of Magnoliafan's edits. I was able to find torrents of them, but they are very slow to download and I've been told they have very "meh" video quality (also, they're not as convinient to put on my TV or share with my friends & family).

I wish I could get some kind of progress report on MagnoliaFan's special edition dual-layer discs, and his/her Episode 3 edit! I thought Episode 3 was a pretty decent film, but it definitely had a lot of weak spots that kept it from being on part with the original trilogy. I can't wait to see what Magnoliafan comes up with to fix it up, especially after seeing that teaser image of Qui Gon's spirit in the ending!
