Thoughts? Picked it up on DVD today, and caught it in theaters.

One of the best films I've seen in the last 20 years.

Awesome movie. Cuaron is an absolutle master with the camera. Seriously, he says "I am your f'ing master!" to the camera and the camera obeys. I also like how this movie only took 70-some odd million dollars to make, even with the giant set pieces and whatnot. Wonderful filmmaking.

The car chase, the birth and the final battle sequence stand as some of the greatest things I have ever seen in a film. I've never been so engrossed in a movie and had the feeling of those events actually happening like I did in this movie. How this monumental achievement in cinematography and effects work went unnoticed my most of the world and the Oscars is beyond me.

I just saw this movie yesterday. (Searched to see if there were any other threads for it.)

Very well made in the way it focused on essentials. I enjoyed how it seemed to be a journey for the main character as you cared about him and what he was doing. I liked how his outlook changed over the film and I think the ending was perfect in that sense. I don't know if the story was intended to be that way, but that's what I got out of it.

Best. Movie. Ever.

Well, that may be an exxaggeration, but it's definately the most original and innovative movie of 2006. I loved it. It was powerful, gripping, and moving. Clive Owen deserved an Oscar, and the movie deserved a Best Picture nomination, if not a win. The action scenes were unbelievable. I don't know if I'd call it the best movie of 2006, but it was one of my top favorites. I can't really imagine myself watching it over and over again because of the content, but it's an unbelievable movie nonetheless.

I just saw it the other night and I think it's a great film as well. The long takes add so much tension and realism to the movie; I was literally on the edge of my seat.

Be warned good sir...

The book is so very much different from the film. Obviously you'll find that out tho. Just so you're not totally shocked.

I read the book after seeing the movie and it added an entirely new dimension to the world I'd already seen depicted in the film. It's like each compliments each other very nicely. I liked everything about the movie but once read the book the whole thing really took off (in my mind anyway)

But you'll have a totally different experience. Just please...don't expect the book in film form. Most of the people I know that have also read the book hold that as the biggest fault of the movie. Very loosely based.

cheers for the heads-up JarJead - am going to try and get hold of the book.

I thought the film was very engaging - a vision of England not too off in the future that you could easily envisage - given the way politics and liberties in this is country has been going over the few years.

Tis certainly a film I'll be watching again tp ick up on any subtleties I may have may missed on the 1st viewing...
