Were the Beatles one of if not the most influential and culturally important bands of all time? Yes.
Do I enjoy listening to their music? No, not really.
The Beatles’ later material is ostensibly the more culturally significant.
However I prefer listening to their early material. Great tunes and great harmonies.

^I love their harmonies all the way through their career, but there is something special about their earlier work. It never fails to bring a smile to my face, or even more if I’m feeling sentimental. They were the first band I really explored (which, given how much merchandise there is of theirs everywhere to this day, is not all that surprising.)
My love of The Beatles at this point in my life comes down to being sentimental. Anyone out there in the same boat? If so, what songs still get you? I gotta give it to the Abbey Road medley, I’ve cried to that at least once or twice.

I really like the album “With the Beatles”.
Their versions of “Till There was You” and “Besame Mucho” remain my favorite of all versions of those standards.
Love the tune “Saw Her Standing There”. Great bass line.
I like some of their obscure originals, like “Ask Me Why”. They explored some very interesting musical forms in their early years. In some ways, as a musician I find their earlier material more technically interesting. Although there were many stronger musicians, somehow they managed to forge new ground.

With The Beatles grew on me recently, but I think the covers more so than the originals. Till There Was You, Roll Over Beethoven, You Really Got A Hold On Me… but the album I’ve listened to the most recently, out of their earlier work. is definitely Please Please Me.
In other topic, I love everything they came out with in 1967. Probably my favorite year. The singles, Magical Mystery Tour, and of course Lonely Hearts…
And yet my most listened album of all time should be “Help!” though - summer of 2009 I literally only listened to that. I also have a soft spot for Let It Be, even though nowadays my favorite version of that is Let It Be… Naked.
So hard to talk about the Beatles, only album (out of the ones considered “official” nowadays) that I haven’t listened to in a while is Beatles For Sale. I don’t know, it’s just never been a favorite of mine.
The Beatles’ cover of Long Tall Sally is probably my favorite of their “early” work. That and I Saw Her Standing There.

A Day in the Life was on Sgt. Pepper.
I thought the point of the thread was just to list simply your favorite album, and then your favorite song in general but my apologies if I misread what the thread is for.
I know, I know. You’re not wrong.
The Person in Question
My three favorite albums are Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road and Rubber Soul. Some of my favorite songs are A Day in the Life, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, I’ve Just Seen a Face, Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) and Eleanor Rigby.
I highly highly highly recommend checking out the recent 50th Anniversary Remix of Sgt. Pepper. It sounds beautiful, an incredibly subtle polish without changing a note. And the super mega deluxe edition is like 4 discs with a bunch of early takes of songs and instrumental versions and whatnot. Good shit.
Don’t do drugs, unless you’re with me.
Wanted to drop in and give the highest recommendation to the Beatles anthology dvd set. I am halfway through the first section and it is fascinating! So many great stories and it’s just delightful. Can’t ever get enough of the Beatles.
