Story here.

I think it's a vast right wing conspiracy to make the publishers of science textbooks get richer while screwing with Astrologers' prediction formulas.

Meanwhile, the Intelligent Designers are gearing up to revisit the notion that the sun still revolves around the Earth.

It was there this morning - where's it gone?

(does the disappearence of Pluto mean that the waves affect the tides on Eath too - like it would when my masterplan to steal the moon comes to fruition?)


Seriously, I agree with ADM - those science book printers will be rubbing their hands at this...

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

And the flat-earthers will try to get their material into the textbooks too. Still, I am satisfied with the decision. Pluto has always been the oddest, most eccentric planet, and several of my friends viewed it as a Kuiper belt object, exactly as everyone viewed Ceres as just another object in the asteroid belt.

But still, the decision must have sent the science textbook companies into a tizzy.
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

I was going to start this thread but wasn't sure if anyone would care.

Seriously, with all the other junk on the edge of the solar system discovered since 1930 I don't think Pluto qualifies as a planet, but now I'll have to think up some new rhyme to remember the order of planets...

It's kinda like the metric system in the US. It was supposed to be the official system since the 70s, but no one seemed to care using it. Pluto is a planet to me, and Xena is still a bad TV series, not a celestial body.

That makes me mad lol. I mean they went to vote on a new deifinition that adds three more planets but yet they make Pluto a dwarf planet along with Ceres and Xena.

Yeah, the whole thing does seem kinda bassackward, and that Pluto got it up the bassackwards as well. Imagine the planets walking into this conference room amid flashbulbs and jabbering paparazzi to meet with the scientists, eager to find out who it will be who gets to join their mighty ranks. "So, glad you all could make it," says the lead scientist, "but there's been a slight change in plans. Yeah, see, we've had some financial difficulties, and it turns out we won't be able to invite new members on the team after all." A collective "Awww," from the planets. I'd like to think we're civilized enough to be emotionally invested in the fictional people rather than the fictional balls of rock they live on.

Then again, I did get rather misty eyed when Corscant fell to the Vong.

Xena got her own planet? What is next, Hercules and the rest of the regular cast of Xena, warrior princess? Cool!

Seriously, I guess that is something else for kids to memorize in 3rd grade science class: 8 regular planets, and then the 3 dwarf planets.
