How is ESB coming along, Darth Editous?
I actually got a little more done! I've stabilised R2's text on the X-Wing panel, and now I'm correcting the credits (taking out Clive Revill [should probably replace him with Ian McDiarmid - I don't think he's credited] and correcting the spelling of Den(n)is Lawson and Christopher Malco(l)m).
I'm still stuck on what to do with the Emperor if I can't get a clean background plate

I have access to an Avid editing suite and I've just discovered it's got a fantastic speed adjusting effect! So, I'm going to add this to the latest "build" of ANH (along with the slight iris fix right at the end detailed above).
What else would you guys want me to fix or improve further if I released another version of ANH? Lightsabre colours go without saying...

Do you think there's any way you could mask out the back window in Vader's cockpit? I think it's only visible when he spins out of control. A quick fix might be to just color it red so that it seems to be a screen rather than a window.
And I know that Tellan is doing something similar, but would you consider redoing the Han and Greedo scene so that we don't see the long shot of Han shooting? I guess I find that angle rather underwhelming, even after your fix.

I don't have it ripped at the moment - what's the problem with it as it is? Colouring it wouldn't be a quick fix as for continuity's sake I'd have to colour it red in every shot...

You're right, it's not a great shot, but I still think it's better than nothing. Otherwise Greedo just goes boom.

13. I've painted the reappearing red R2 unit green to fix the continuity error.
*I really wish R5 wasn't there at all.
14. There's a bad cut in the music (it completely drops out for a fraction of a second) when we see the Sandpeople mounting their Bantha - fixed.
*still noticable, but better
15. I've edited out the wall hanging/cloak thing behind Luke to fix a continuity error (but in a weird way - more on that later).
*That is weird. It seems to disappear when luke stands up, as if he knocked it down, but then it re-appears in a latter shot.
23. Han fires first!
*wish this was more like the OOT, but it works well just the way it is, and is a huge improvement.
30. Moff Tarkin's line "...then name the system!" has been graphic equalized to mask the poor audio quality.
*Could still be better. I only say this because before the DVDs came out someone posted this as a MP3 clip that I thought I would try to EQ. I think I got it perfect, but yours is still not quite as good as it could be.
42. The line "I had it all under control until you led us down here!" was of particularly bad quality, so I've replaced it with the same line from the SE LD.
*Now Chewie's bark during this line sounds funny
Also, put in newer fanfare during 20th century fox logo at beginning so it doesn't sound so crappy.

I suppose that was partly laziness on my part. It was either do that or edit it out of the previous shot too, and possibly one before that. I've improved my tracking program though, so I might take another look at this. I might even edit it in to the shot where Luke is playing with the lightsabre.

The problem is that there's no physical rear window on Vader's TIE, unlike the other TIEs. But since they used the same cockpit set for Vader's shots, it looks like there's a window behind him. What I'm suggesting is that, instead of trying to remove the rear window completely, make it red so that it looks like a "simulated" window instead of a real one.
I'm pretty sure the window is only visible when he spins out of control, since the rest of the time his body is blocking our view of the window. So I don't think we're talking that many frames to correct.

I've just been taking a close look at the wipe into the Jabba scene. If you look really closely, you can see that ILM inserted their new Jabba scene over the SE version - you can briefly see the outline of the SE Jabba's tail in the circular edge of the wipe.

Im in the UK with Broadband so if I could get a copy, Id love to put it on the net as a torrent. Darth Editous deserves a job at Lucasfilm and hopefully the more people that see this will mean theres more chance of Lucasfilm seeing it.

Things like the Death Star schematic and Obi-Wans head are awesome.
Im currently attending a course in 3DS Max, but I think it will be a long time before im as talented as you.

The Death Star schematic was done in POVray. The original schematic was removed automatically for most of the shot, though I had to do it manually for a few frames as it began to interact with the lines at the edge of the projection. It took a while, but I managed to line up the solid square in my schematic with the zooming-in square of the original, and made a fade of a few frames between them. That was the only 3D work I did for ANH.
"Invisiben" was done by taking Ben's face out of another shot from the duel (at least, I think it was - it may have been from the scene in his home on Tatooine) and pasting it in (there was some subpixel tracking to match it with the falling cloak).
