ALIAS IS ANOTHER SHOW I REALLY DIG. I JUST FINISHED SEASONS 1 & 2. I'M STARTING SEASON THREE TONIGHT. I ORIGINALLY STARTED WATCHING THE SHOW ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH SEASON THREE RIGHT INTO THE FIRST FEW EPISODES OF SEASON FOUR BEFORE MY WORK SCHEDULE GOT IN THE WAY. NOW, I'M ENJOYING IT COMMERCIAL AND WAIT FREE.

I used to be an Alias nut back in the day. IMO, seasons 1 & 2 (especially 2) were some of the best tv I've ever seen. Season 3 took a major detour and blew cheese, again IMO. Season 4 was a minor improvement, but by the end it was obvious to me that the magic was gone. I watched the first 2 eps of this year and have never gone back. Too bad. It was really special for a while...

IF YOU LOOK AT YOUR STATEMENT ALONG SIDE THE PREMIER OF LOST YOU CAN SEE THAT J.J. ABRAMS TOTALLY GAVE UP ON ALIAS FOR HIS NEW SHOW.

Whoo-hoo!!! Another convert!!!! And oh you poor, poor sybeman... you're going to KILL us for hooking you on this but only having season one... you better order 2.0 now or the cliffhanger is going to torture you to no end!

Well, Season 2 starts Saturday on Space, and for the next twenty weeks, I'll just wave to grin and watch it like normal people

I'm not going to read the above post, because in the UK they have only just shown episode 1 of season 2. Bloody fantastic. Please just tell me that this season is better or at least as good as the first season.

To think that the fist series BSG was actualy shown over here well before you guys. And because it's a hit over your side of the pond, you get the second series way before us. Shame on you And don't get me started on Lost. They've just shown the klast episode of season 1 here. Thank god for torrents

Any way back to BSG. I missed it when it was shown on tv the first time round but went out and bought the pilot mini series and the season 1 box set together. I had time off work for some reason, so watched the whole lot in about 4 or 5 days. The best sci fi tv show ever. It was just so good to watch them all in one big chunk like that. I did the same with the fist series of Lost. Was on about ep8 on tv here, but manged to get a pirate box set of the whole series and watch them all in about a week with the missus
So I'm in two minds about watching bsg every week, or wait till the box set comes out and watch them all together. Which won't be till the series ends on tv, which is probably in 20 odd weeks I geuss.
And I can't be arsed to d/l the whole lot. I dunno?

Actually I'm an idiot, and I should just watch the bloody program.

^ I know what you mean (I think )

Have downloaded and watched the first 10 episodes of season 2 and watched them back-to-back (pretty much anyways) - just could not contain the excitement and anticipation of the next episode, and then the next one, and then the next...!

However, have to say I've taken a lot more in just watching 1 or 2 episodes a week at the second time of viewing - I often find I've missed subtle plotlines and think about the decisions and consequences of the story a bit more.

Gotta love the torrents - come Saturday morning the dling will start and by the evening it'll be ready
10 episodes on one dvdr disc - all decent quality (divx) = sweetness

Actually, Season 1 was shown in the Uk first because Sky was the primary benefactor for season 1. Wehn it came to season 2, Sci-Fi in the States paid for it all, so they get to show it first.

Don't feel bad. The first episode of season two is tomorrow, here in Canada.

Just watched last night's episode. A lot if info for one ep and though I know they had to get through it all I feel they easily could have stretched it into a two-hour one. Still very very good though. And like my mentor used to say- "I love it when a plan comes together!"

Big departure from the original...now the fleet has 2 Battlestars??

I wonder if this means we're going to see Sebatian Spence (SciFi's First Wave) more often.

Also, I would have sworn there was a line in the commercials where Cain says "Target Galactica's Main Batteries" or something very close to that.
...
I didn't hear that line in either of the last 2 episodes.

I sorta smell 'extended cut' of these episodes for the DVD release. We'll see.
Author

Doubtful. Pegasus, yes. Resurrection Ship was originally one hour-long episode, then when they had too much they extended it to two. So this is the "extended cut" of it.

"Big departure from the original...now the fleet has 2 Battlestars??"

Just another in a long line of.....though I also wonder how long they are going to keep the Pegasus around. There's still a lot of bad blood between the two crews, so it could get very interesting.

And I'm so thankful you try! I just finished season one today so I could watch the premiere of season two. I'm enjoying the show even more now than I did when I last posted (one day and six episodes ago). I'm frustrated, though, because I was spoiled, and now have to wait a whole week for the next episode. Yes, I suppose I could order the DVDs from the US, but then I'll watch those, and won't be able to see 211 for another ten weeks! I guess I'll just have to suffer. It hurts so good. So very, very good!

Earlier isn't always good. I hadn't started watching season one while it played on Sci-Fi but got ahold of some fan-made DVDs of the entire first series from the UK showings. So even though the U.S. run was only half through I had seen the enitre first season and of course the cliff-hanger it ended on!! Talk about be frustrated having to wait!!!!! I hadn't been that anxious for a tv series to start a new season in I don't know how long!

^ but especially now, after the events and consequences of the last episode - everything has now changed...

(am so impatient to see what the next ep will concentrate on)

For some reason, I never got into the new BSG series, maybe because I grew up with the old series, I could not adjust to the changes the new series made. however the writing and the acting is excellent, the special effects are good as well. If that series was not called Battlestar Galactica, I might have been able to follow it. The old series was very joyful (it was entertaining) and the new series is very dramatic (it is like a good drama, I am not thinking about scifi when it comes to the new series). I guess it is the nostalgia effect, I don't know how to explain it. I did not watch the second season yet, yeah I know, the 1rst season had a good cliffhanger, I guess I may be able to follow it at some point. Like I said the new series has good writing, I should say excellent, but I don't get into it , am I the only one?

I don't mean to crash a party, just saying my 2 cents.

Please don't shoot me.

I just read a few posts back I found , they are some like me lol. Sorry if this post is redundant.

I DIDN'T WATCH THE MINISERIES. I HATED THE FACT THAT THEY HAD CHANGED AROUND THE CHARACTERS, BUT THEN AT SOMEPOINT DURING SEASON ONE I GAVE IT A CHANCE. I GREW UP WATCHING THE ORIGINAL SERIES. THE FUNNY THING NOW IS THAT AFTER WATCHING THE NEW BSG I CAN HARDLY WATCH THE OLD ONE.

I too was put off by the fact that Starbuck was now a woman instead of the guy from the A-Team, the cylons were no longer a cross between C3PO and a stormtrooper, and that big robotic gorilla/bear was nowhere to be seen, but you guys have made me want to see it.

War does not make one great.

hmm i donno, i love the new series and find it to be far and beyond the best show on TV right now, in my mind its more of a human drama then a Scifi, and it adresses indepth so many of the moral issues that we face today, what with cloning and hte creation of life. and idea of what is right or what is duty. there is even on a smaller sense the idea of a clash of religions, with the idea of one god,(cylons), no god(atheists) and multi-gods(the people of the fleet). but despite all that i saw an episode of the original Battle star the other day on tv, it was the one where starbuck was stuck on a planet and befriends a cylon, and i found that one to be very good as well.

all that aside the stories are starting to diverge alot now, after the pegasis three parter. the story is going to start taking on its own life now. cause something happened in the new one that didnt happen in the original, something very big.

For some of us over 30 () had good memories of the original BSG - and was part of our childhoods growing up, which is why some may have a little intrepidation when its announced that the US are doing a 'reimagining' of you start to be a little cynical - maybe a cheap cash-in on the name of BSG?...

that said as soon as I found out that Ron Moore was at the helm sone of this intrepidation melted away - this guy was superb on Trek - always pushing the boundaries of the franchise (much to the alleged chagrain of Berman and TIIC), asking questions of the viewer and often delivering uncomfortable and searching tv - gone were the days where villain of the week is outwitted by the captain through a human morale or technobabble in the final few mins - never to return again or see the consequences of his actions... (it is a shame Trek returned to this premise with VOY and some of ENT!)

Terrorism, faith, belief, racism, love, friendship, trust, betrayal, ideals - Trek staples which had become stale in it's delivery over the years was 're-invented' for DS9 (and now BSG)...

You know that BSG is going to be unpredictable in it's content and story when Moore wanted the finale of DS9 having the Federation LOSE the war vs the Dominion - which caused no end of problems as the suits at the time demanded a re-write for a happier ending at such short notice... BSG has been one helluva ride so far, but it's only just beginning - here's to 7 seasons (hopefully - at least) of quality thought provoking and entertaining tv
