Well, I did a couple things.

1. Confirmed that the file that I have RAR’d is exactly the same as the original.
2. I ran the file on 2 different computers (both with VLC, same version). On one computer it was fine, on the other computer I saw the problem. Here’s the “snapshot”.

So we could safely assume that the file is okay and the issue is only with rendering either due to the media player or the pc hardware (only probable cause)!!! .I thought my file is corrupt and deleted my copy 😭.
Need to download this again. Thank you for making time to look into this issue.

Well I’m no expert, but I would guess it’s a combination of the 2.
There is something wonky with that small section of the file. And for some reason, some hardware or software decoders can handle it and some cannot.

Yo bro, the issue still exists. I don’t know how or why. This is the 3rd time I’ve redownloaded the file. Guess its just not in our hands. Better believe the file’s good and just pretend need different hardware than killing time trying to fix it. Better leave it at that. Now only RoTK left to download.

Like I said. I think there is something inherent in the file that’s causing that.
But certain players/hardware aren’t affected. I can’t explain it, but the exact file for me worked on one computer but not another.

You can try some different software other than VLC. Maybe if you use MPC or MPV it might play it fine?

I used Potplayer and the issue still exists. Tried Media Player Classic. Still there. But its okay. 2 seconds of glitch wont ruin two hours of cinema 😃

HEY! i just watched the whole thing on TV and it was FLAWLESS 😃.

There’s been a while since someone offered to send PMs, is there someone doing it still? The author seems inactive, sadly. This is such a great project and I’d like to thank the author for taking his time, it really sucks that people with the means don’t have one tenth of the care…

Came across this forum following a YouTube video showing issues with the 4k LOTR movies and reading through this forum was dismayed to learn that the LOTR 4k releases were just upscaled 2k scans. I see a couple of people are sharing links to the projects by Dr.Dre and will reach out to them soon (I have to wait 7 days).

Hello everyone, I’m newb to this forum and thread.
I came across this thread because I’ve been watching lord of the rings clips and got recommended a comparison video between the various remasters and releases and fell down the rabbit hole of searching for the most faithful remastered for the trilogy. Some folks recommended the Dremastered and I’m dying to compare and watch this remastered version once I’m able to private request some of the folks willing to share the files.

I’ve struggled to watch LOTR trilogy again in recent years despite loving it BITD. Suspect it’s because I’ve only had the Extended Editions… keen to get the original Theatrical releases without excessive DNR, so if someone could DM links to the 3 Dremastered versions, I’d be much obliged 😃

Nor seemingly have the care / bother to actually read up on how things work on here - and how they don’t…

❕ I have found a Fan Edit / Preservation I am interested in - but I don’t know how to get / acquire / download it? ❕

To be fair, floppyD was following one of the first instructions on that page given he’d stated “the author seems inactive, sadly”:

“If you haven’t heard anything back after some time (over a month or so…) then simply make a post in the project thread stating you’ve had no success in contacting the project creator - and politely ask if anyone else can provide you with a link”

That’s fair enough then… I know what the D stands for now! 😄
