This version does not have DNR.

For the new ones it’s a shot of the emperor walking down the ramp. I originally noticed it on the Vader scene when he enters through the smoke on the BluRay versions (4:33 in A New Hope, watch the stormtrooper legs blur and distort as Vader’s cape flows in front of them).

I made a quick gif to show what I’m talking about since it’s more subtle in this scene than the Vader one: https://bestedit.net/imgs/ot/sw-emperor-cloak.gif

It appears the side of the ship is warping similar to the stormtrooper legs in the BluRay, unless I’m wrong and it’s just an optical illusion from the smoke - can’t completely confirm with such short clips.

This version does not have DNR.

Yeah in your clip it doesn’t seem to be so attached to the cape as the more compressed versions, although if you step through those frames a little slower those middle three boxes below the light still wiggle like a wave with the smoke. Hopefully that’s just the “some compression” doing weird things and not present in the final product though. I’d be very happy to have an artifact-free version of the OT!

Do we know if the weird pitch lowering done to Yoda’s voice in the stereo and 70mm mix of ESB will be fixed in the new 7.1 mix? Specifically the scene in his hut when he’s saying “Patience, soon you will be with him” and “Why wish you become Jedi?” etc.

I know it would technically be a change but it isn’t like that in the mono mix so I feel like it may have been a mistake (or they realised that pitching his voice down to make him sound less annoying goes against the point of the scene). Plus it was also “fixed” in the SE

That’s the only thing that bothers me about the original stereo mix of Empire

I suspect at least the Disney+ versions will have DNR since it’s better for internet streaming as far as I’m aware.

Good lord! I had no idea the scene had so much color. Not to mention there’s no window screen of mat gray covering the image. So clear

Id like to see a comparison of this clip and the 2011 blue-ray release to see how much better in quality these deleted scenes are going to be. IDK how the comparison guy gets the actual 4k screencaps, but right now on the 720p streamable it looks close to the 2011 version except for some color correction and a little bit sharper. Only downgrade is there’s way more distracting green noise than in the 2011 version. Hope they remove as much distracting noise from the deleted scenes as possible so we don’t have to do it ourselves 😅
I just hope the deleted scenes will be in good enough quality that adding it into the new ULTRA 8K releases will look seamless (or as seamless as it can look next to 8k).
Also, if someone can explain why the deleted scenes look so low quality compared to the actual movie scenes even though they were both shot with the same equipment Id love to know why.

There’s not going to be an 8K release. It’s been a decade since 4K launched and the industry still hasn’t gotten THAT right on a consistent level. They’re not going to double the resolution AGAIN anytime soon, especially since most folks don’t reliably clock the difference between 2K and 4K on the basis of resolution (especially not with standard upscaling applied) anyway.

Whatever the next format is, the improvement won’t be res-based, but compression/bandwidth based.

But this is, very likely, the last home video format we’re ever getting.

The Leaks are, in fact, in 4K; it’s just that Streamable’s free plan limits the playback resolution to 720p…

What green noise are you talking about??? This leak appears to be from a higher quality source and is, in fact, softer than the Blu-ray yet still more detailed…

I won’t be satisfied until there are 4K UHD discs we can own in our homes. To me a limited cinema release is exciting, but not the end goal. The GOUT DVD should be retired at long last. It would be nice to get the whole trilogy, and if no processing or DNR which would be a first for Lucasfilm, we can finally retire decades old laserdiscs.

Hmmm…they will only restore the deleted scenes from the bluray? 🥳🥂That’s great So far but no new scenes?
No colorations the black and white scenes?🤔

These are just the scenes that have been uploaded to the ALI youtube channel so far - there may be more scenes to come. 👍

It is all a ‘Work In Progress’ (WIP) - so we can hope for more detailed scenes as their work progresses (and maybe colour too). 🥂
