I thought for sure they were going to wait until Celebration 2027 to make a big announcement. Maybe they’ll wait until then to announce all 3 are coming to home video.

Also, there is zero chance this doesn’t get a 4K UHD release lol. Disney is gonna wanna make bank off of the restoration work, physical media sales and cinema releases are how you do that.

Hi guys, I’m the one who posted the leaked clips on YouTube a few weeks ago, which got over 50k views. I’m so happy to share this moment with all of you, this is truly a historic day and probably the most important day in Star Wars history. Without sounding egotistical I can confidently say that my video of the leaked clips getting the attention that it did definitely pushed them into announcing this early, which does feel good to have contributed in some way, but either way I’m just so happy to be here with you all and I genuinely still can’t believe that this finally happening. The fact that this is going to genuinely upset some people too is so funny to me, I’m sure some of you might’ve seen people upset at me in the comments of the video, and there will probably be more on my community post, but the bottom line is all versions of the films should’ve always been available, especially the originals, so I’m so happy for everybody who’s ever contributed to this site, and I’m also sad knowing some people never lived to see this day, and it’s a great shame that they’re not here to celebrate.
Let’s all enjoy this moment and let the weight of this monumental day fully sink in, congratulations guys. Dreams do indeed come true.

Imagine if this site was created 20 years ago for this moment, it’s crazy, this has really taken a long time, and I even feel excited even though I arrived here a year ago, but seeing the greatest trilogy of all time in the highest quality and in the cinema is an impossible dream come true

This originally leaked like 6 months ago, but it was more widely posted on Reddit about a month ago.
After that it got pretty widespread media coverage online.
Oh, when did he say that in recent times?
Cannes Film Festival 2024, he did an interview that’s on YouTube.
He was specifically asked if the original versions would be released in 4K, and he got all grumpy and was like “We already released them on DVD! Nobody wanted them, and everyone said they looked terrible and that we purposely made them look terrible! We didn’t, that’s how they looked!”
I doubt if he was even aware this re-master was underway, since he really hasn’t worked for Lucasfilm since he sold it and retired in 2012.
