Hey! Been a Star Wars fans since 2015. I got into the franchise when I was a teenager because of the release The Force Awakens. I have alot of fond memories from that era. Star Wars mania has never quite felt the same since. I can proudly say my first experience watching the original trilogy was indeed the Harmey’s De- Specialized editions. Preserving the original trilogy in its entirety is important and I love that fans have been so passionate enough over the years to ensure that was the case. Excited to check out 4k77, 4k80 and 4k83!

Howdy. Long-time lurker looking to join in on conversations, particularly on Discord. I’ve been following fan projects on other forums and on MySpleen for years. I’m a big OT fan but enjoy other classics like Alien, Blade Runner, and '89 Batman too.

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well. I’ve been checking this site out for years now looking at project 4k77, the despecialised editions and so forth, so I decided to finally join in. I suppose the easiest way to introduce myself is just to drop some of my favorite Star Wars stories . (This order is by no means definitive)

  1. ESB
  2. ANH
  3. Andor
  4. Rogue One
  5. ROTJ
  6. TCW (2008-2020)
  7. ROTS
  8. Jedi: Fallen Order
  9. Darth Vader by Charles Soule
  10. Clone Wars (2003)

If anyone wants to discuss SW or anything else, my DM’s are open 😃

Hello! I grew up watching the original trilogy on VHS (original theatrical cuts). Those will always be the definitive versions to me and it irks me that there is no official release of those versions in HD. I created an account here because I heard this was the place to potentially get versions of the originals in HD; either via the 4K77 project or Harmy’s editions… I don’t know much about how these two remasters are different but would love input from the community…

I do own the Star Wars blu-ray boxset (all six films); so can verify that if I need to…

Hello there !
Born in 1977 — the same year the very first Star Wars hit the screens. Coincidence ? I think not !
I’m French and have been living in Japan for 18 years (yes, I really like sushi).
My English isn’t perfect, but I promise to try hard and only confuse you a little — no need to call C-3PO for translation… yet.
Thanks for reading, and may the chat be with you !

Hello everyone! New user here, but have been a lurker for quite some time.

My introduction to Star Wars fan edits was through Adywan’s wonderful Star Wars: Revisited. I have also seen Hal9000s edits and that has driven me further down into the rabbit hole.

I have been a Star Wars fan since I was about 6-7 and have seen all the movies, handful of Clone Wars episodes, Rebels and all of the current Disney shows, minus Skeleton Crew.

I am happy to be here, and hope to chat with you all soon. Thanks!

Hello my name is Austen,

I have heard just recently of Hal 9000s edit and this what brought me here. Now I’m being introduced to a whole new world of fan edits and the whole thing is so overwhelming but so cool all at the same time. Love the Star Wars universe but would love to see it in a new light. Great to meet everyone.

Hi OT crew!

My name is Owen. I’m a recent college graduate and now full time worker in a new city figuring out what to do with life outside of work.
In college, I sponsored 4 or 5 small groups for watching movies and discussing them (with no expertise on film making or anything like that) purely for the love of the game.
So naturally I was bound to fill some more weekends and nights with them eventually, and recently thats been Star Wars thanks to Episode 3’s return to theaters!

Since then I’ve been catching up on all that the universe and fandom have to offer, including memes, cosplayers, watching the rest of the OT and Prequels, The Clone Wars shows, and Andor. It’s like being a kid all over again, but now with greater ability to appreciate the art introduced to me piecemeal as a child.

My first experience with fan edits was the M4 Hobbit edit, which for me really captured the wonderful story lying within the Hobbit Triology. And recalling that prompted me to look for fan edits of the Prequels, and the Sequels which I wasn’t huge on as a normie in HS (but I have hope for them yet!).

That’s all led me here to learn more about the fan edits that exist, and in addition to that I believe I’ve found a new place to nerd out over the stuff we all enjoy!

Hope to chat with you guys soon! (Please forgive my long windedness as well haha)

Greetings!

I’m a long-time lurker finally taking the plunge to join the resistance (pun intended). I probably won’t post much, but continue to lurk and read extensively on various projects progress.

I was 7 when Star Wars A New Hope was released in the theaters. It was the first movie I ever saw in the theater and I was hooked immediately. Sadly, I’m disappointed in the prequels and sequels. I hope things turn around somehow, but until then I’m very glad to have found a place where talented individuals are striving to make something better.

Hi,
I’m a French Star Wars fan (but I do understand English if needed). Also a scientist, gardener and musician. Like many, I discovered this universe when I was about 7 or 8 years old, and it has been a passion ever since. Now, I’m introducing Star Wars to my own children, starting with the original trilogy.

However, before moving on to Episodes 1, 2, 3 and 7, 8, 9, I’m considering showing them some fan edits-to avoid unnecessary or confusing parts, especially in the sequels. I also really enjoy Andor (a masterpiece!) and quite like The Mandalorian.

I’m happy to join this community to expand my modest knowledge of the Star Wars universe and learn more about all the fantastic projects here 😉
Cheers!

Hello,

First of all, my English is not at a high level, but as far back as I can remember, even though it is not my mother tongue, if I want to watch a movie, I have watched it.

I have been locked up at home because I have a heart condition and some digestive problems that I cannot yet understand, it started with a covid-19 that I had, although I am not someone who gets excited, this digestive problem hits my heart and although I love playing games, I can no longer do it, I turned to different things like increasing the resolution with artificial intelligence.

Then, while thinking why I should not do these renderings to my favorite movies, I saw that some non-IMAX movies with black bars were made in versions that fill the screen on a few social forums, while researching them, I found myself among you. As a movie lover, I would love to watch my favorite movies that offer a full-screen experience again, it is nice to be among you, nice to meet you.

Hello there,

i have a love for movies since i was born i would say. I collected many DVD’s over the time, Blu-Ray’s after that and UHD’s after that. I watched many movies on tv in my childhood. Over the time i got more involved in knowledge around them. One such thing was that surprised me in a bad way was the airing of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves on TV (which the air here every year on christmas day). At some point they started using the extended cut version which in german got a whole new synchronisation which was… lets say they tried but failed at it.

I have for myself cobbled together the extended cut (which was the only one avaiable in 1080p) in Vegas Pro together with a mix of the original sync from an old DVD and the rest from the new sync. I have to say i was pleased and proud of myself. Shortly after i saw that an 4K version of it was released and someone did the same thing i did with it ^^

So yeah i like or better love movies in general and also movie knowledge. And i always pursuit in getting the “best” version in terms of quality.

Of course in the universe of Star Wars i got the old transfers which are provided online, cause i also dont like what they did to episode 4-6 (adore you still George) like most of us here. And i was surprised to see that there is also such a big community here doing the same for all kinds of other movies.

Yesterday I found out that there was a way to watch the original trilogy the way it was presented in the movie theaters. I remember going to the theater to watch Star Wars in the summer of 1978. Back in my day, movies were screened for several months in a row and in Star Wars’ case, over a year.

I look forward to watching the original in 4k, as I no longer have my poor quality VHS tape.

I’ve been here for a while without properly introducing myself. I’m a gardener with a passion for preservation. Like most of you it started with the changes to the Original Trilogy but soon expanded as I was able to notice subtle changes between theatrical and home release versions between other media as well as preserving unreleased media.

Greetings, I’ve been a lifetime fan of Star Wars and as soon as I discovered that unaltered and curated versions of the original trilogy existed I became interested both because I wanted to experience the films in their original form as well as preservation purposes.
I believe I watched Harmy’s Despecialized Editions at some point some years ago long after having watched the trilogy in some Special Edition form. As I am a bit on the younger side of things, I happened to grow up with Prequels era content which I am unapologetically obsessed with to this day. In any case, I am a big SW fan or at least I try to be, slowly making my way through Legends EU content, video games and other forms of media including radio plays, I would like to discuss these topics with other fellow enthusiasts.
I’m slowly making my way through this site and learning about its rich history, I also don’t want to make any mistakes or anything like that if possible so I will take it slowly and mostly lurk for now but I appreciate the welcoming atmosphere that I sense here.
May the Force be with you, always.

Hello guys,

I’ve dabbled in Star Wars since I was younger. Always intrigued by the world that George Lucas created and the marriage of religious and political themes. Andor finishing has made me want to dive little more into Star Wars.

Letter to George,

George, you made Star Wars. Thank you for that. We like the movie you made. The changes you made to the original prints, while I understand you like, are not good. I grew up with the VHS. I want to watch that movie again. Thanks.

Hey everyone!

Long-time Star Wars fan here who’s finally decided to stop lurking and join the conversation. Like many, I’ve recently been on a massive Star Wars binge after finishing Andor (what a masterpiece, right?). That show rekindled something in me that led me down a rabbit hole of revisiting the entire saga, but this time with a twist - I decided to explore the world of fan edits.

Started with the OT fan preservations which was eye-opening - seeing these films closer to their theatrical glory without all the later additions was like rediscovering them all over again. Currently making my way through the sequel trilogy edits which is what ultimately brought me here.

I’ve been amazed at the dedication and talent in this community - the attention to detail in preserving and improving these films we all love is incredible. Still figuring out which edits I prefer for some of the films (especially the sequels), so I’d love recommendations from veterans here.

Excited to be part of this community and discuss all things Star Wars with fellow fans who are equally passionate about both the original works and the impressive fan projects that have emerged over the years.

May the Force be with you all!

Hey all! Star Wars was the first movie I remember seeing in theaters at the age of 4. Not really a fan of the prequels or sequels, but I love Andor and Rogue One. Would love to see the original trilogy in all its glory again!

I’ve been reading about restored editions of the original trilogy for a long time now but never bothered to figure out how to actually see them. Andor rekindled my Star Wars love and I’d love to be able to eventually see some of the various OT versions out there. I love that people have put so much work into such a great project
