Why not use that time to look around and see how this community forum functions, our site rules & fan project rules, read through any of the pinned ‘Index & Help’ & ‘How Do I Do This?’ threads, as well as any of the fan project threads that may be interest you - and join in the conversations on here.

Leave some feedback or reviews for projects you have previously seen. Or join in the discussions about the Original Trilogy - or the wider Galaxy Far Far Away. Or participate in the discourse here on film, tv, music, art, books & comics, gaming, tech, history, sports… or life in general etc. Read up on how some of the many fan projects on here are made / evolve / come together - or check out the talented artists’ cover artwork, and budding authors’ stories, script-writing, and re-writes.

Simply becoming an active and participating member of the community on here means a significantly better chance of others helping you out in acquiring any fan projects you may be looking for…

So I’ve FINALLY seen Starlight, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. From tweaks that fix some of my biggest pet peeves (the awkward exposition between Han & Leia at the base), to clever little details I wasn’t expecting (the Illum mention, the Falcon’s hyperdrive shorting out), to overhauled scenes that are totally seamless (the dice, Kylo on the Falcon, the additions to the Forceback vision). But the biggest thing, connecting Rey’s Force intuition to the dark side, was almost shocking in how effectively it came off given what you have to work with.

In all honesty, I’ve stayed away from the Sequel Era for a long time purely because The Rise of Skywalker kills it for me, and I can’t honestly say how much I’ll revisit the trilogy in the future. However, when I do, I’m thrilled Starlight will be there to begin it. Bravo.

Hey all! Just wanted to share something Starlight-related I worked on a little while ago for some feedback:

Just over a year ago I had a go at refining the ‘white sand’ look for Jakku. I had three main goals:

Remove remaining orange sand undertones, while leaving elements like skin, clothes etc. intact
Balance some too-blue highlights and bring them more to a pure white
Cool down shadows to give an overall more consistent look

It’s not yet finished, but I wanted to know what people thought!

One particularly big change was to the scene where Rey first meets BB-8; I realised that it would be very challenging to regrade specifically the sand in this scene, so to sell the effect I brought the whole scene to a blue evening look, based on the earlier sunset shot!

No disrepect is meant in any way to Nev’s amazing foundational work! I sent this to them when I first made it, and they said they were happy to give it a look though they haven’t got back in a while, I know they’re super busy! If it’s better that I remove this post I am happy to do so.

The Last Jedi establishes that Luke did have his own Jedi Academy. I think it is stronger for Luke’s character if it is clearly established that he did bring back the Jedi Order, but it was destroyed. If this was the case, I feel his story arc in The Last Jedi would have been responded to better: Luke did bring the Jedi Order back, it all went to shit, so he went into exile. Instead of it seeming like he only had a few students.

However, I could see people complaining how Order 66 part 2 was in a crawl instead of the movie itself.

“I guess it is time, for the Jedi Order to end.”

Thanks a lot, I’d love to finish it sometime, though what I’d really need is an uncompressed/high bitrate version of Nev’s base grade to then apply my changes on top. Either that or I could have a go at reconstructing the whole look from scratch with my own Blu-Ray copy though I’m not sure I could!

Looking back, it appears that @Nev said the first 2 paragraphs are locked in for him, so I would recommend this as the final crawl for the next version.

The only issues I see with the current paragraph 3 is that we need to better establish why the Resistance exists. Their goal in the movie isn’t really to find Luke, but they are the Rebels 2.0 because JJ needed Empire vs Rebels again. I took paragraph 3 from the existing edit and the ideas in the thread to make an updated version.

Eagerly awaiting an update on this project as well. I’m curious to see how we can use some of the AI line suggestions that were made to finalize this edit!
