My two cents on changes for Version 2…
Episode 13 - JEDHA
Episode 14 - STARDUST
Episode 15 - ROGUE ONE
Otherwise, I thought a lot of the music stuff was great. The ending of 14 & 15 in particular are really effective with the Andor theme.

In my rewatch of the official cut of Rogue One today I was struck by just how bad the dialogue in the Vader Krennic scene is. It doesn’t advance either character and is blatantly just there for fanservice.
And I like the hallway/ tantive scene being post credits. The realistic, gritty world of Andor has given way to the fairy tale of the rest of Star Wars. They fought for it. Letting us sit on that last image of Cassian for a few minutes of credits is a really great way to sell that transition in my opinion
Aloha! I’m trying to get the google drive for this edit but I’m not totally sure what the best way to go about it is. I’m not a native to this site, so I can’t do PMs just yet. Anyone have any solutions? I’m hoping to watch this tonight if possible.
Thanks!
What a labour of love this must have been! Now that Season 2 is out I’m excited to dig in.
Alright, so I’ve just finished watching this edit and I’m astonished at how perfectly the film fits into the Andor arc format. In fact, much of the pacing seems to benefit greatly from being spread out into three separate parts. The endings of each episode feel far more book-chapterish, as though they were written to end where they did, and the choices of music fit incredibly well with two of the three endings, in particular at the end of “Stardust.” Definitely a strong moment building up to the grand finale.
That said, I think across the whole project there was one particular nitpick I could think of. While nearly every track selection in this project feels inspired, I think the only one I really disagreed with was the Past/Present Suite during the destruction of Scariff. So much of the rest of the episode fits perfectly, like the use of the “Climb” track as they climb the data column or the ISB motif in some of Krennic’s big scenes, and I very much appreciated that you didn’t use particular motifs that belonged to specific characters such as Luthen.
I think the Past/Present suite is just a bit too upbeat; it’s the theme of Cassian embracing the fight, but this moment is Cassian finishing it. Technically the Rogue One team wins, true, but it’s a somber moment as they watch the horizon crumble ominously toward them. It’s a victory for the rebellion but Cassian and Jyn are hardly emerging champions. I feel like something much more minimal might work in its place, and I found myself imagining the track you used for the credits immediately after this scene in place of the Suite. The imagery of the mushroom cloud resembling a sunrise I think ought to be accompanied by a moment for Cassian to breathe before he goes to his final rest.
Nitpick aside, unbelievable work. I’m beyond impressed and in the wake of Andor season 2 finishing up I feel far more closure for the show having watched this than I did watching the official release. I’m excited to revisit this once you’ve made your soundtrack selections based on the new season should you decide to employ any of the new tracks (there’s definitely a lot to work with!)
All in all, this edit has given me the chance to appreciate not only Andor but Star Wars as a whole in a new and better way. Thank you for doing this! Ciao!
Hi, NFBisms. Could you please PM with the link to view your project? I’d greatly appreciate it!
Thank you!
Okay, I have a giant list of notes, but please take them in the nicest light possible. This is a great project - amazing technical execution of what must have been some really difficult edits, in my opinion just a stone cold improvement to what we originally got with Rogue One, I truly believe what you already have elevates the source material. If I were to introduce a friend to Andor/Rogue One, I would finish by showing them this.
But here’s some things I picked up on while watching it:
EPISODE 1 NOTES
a) I think the Lah’mu sequence needs to be reconsidered in light of Andor S1/2. In the original Rogue One, it helps introduce to Krennic. With Andor S2, he’s less in need of an introduction. Further, the sequence breaks Andor’s norm of flashbacks being limited to the narrator’s perspective, as shown in Andor and Kleya’s flashbacks. Additionally, I think Lah’mu should be split into two portions to give the sequence more narrative momentum throughout the episode. I think Lah’mu Flashback Part 1 should begin with Jyn running to her home as Krennic’s shuttle flies overhead, with the following additional modifications:
This sequence will end when Lyra is killed and the Death Troopers begin fanning out, with adult Jyn waking up in prison, leaving the audience to wonder what happens in between.
b) After Rings of Kafrene, cut to Bohdi meeting Saw. I think Saw’s band needs less of an introduction after season 2, and we can get straight to the meat of it. It also gives us some breathing room from Cassian/Jyn’s storyline. As a side note, I would keep Bor Gullet, because it shows how far Saw has fallen, directly mirroring imperial torture methods. Plus adding these scenes makes Jyn/Cassian’s story move at a less breakneck pace, because in light of season 2 it feels like Cassian is pinballing around Yavin.
c) After Saw/Bohdi, move to Jyn’s jailbreak.
d) With Yavin featuring so prominently in the show, it requires a less grandiose introduction. We can probably hard cut straight from Jyn getting bodyslammed to her being walked into a rebel interrogation.
e) I think Bail’s presence during the interrogation is pure fan service. In the context of Andor season 2, we just saw this guy, so seeing him again doesn’t add anything to the scene except highlight the awkwardness of the recast, so I think his presence is an easy cut. I think we can also cut the short shot of Cassian undoing Jyn’s bonds.
f) Season 2 gave us a really good “Cassian leaving Yavin to go on his big mission” sequence, so I think his takeoff to Jedha can be substantially more abbreviated, maybe just using the score to focus on Draven’s headspace having given the kill order.
h) After they leave Yavin, we do Lah’mu Flashback Part 2, which replaces the existing dream sequence. This is just a more dramatic sequence, with young Jyn hiding from Death Troopers and the audience getting the reveal that her knowing Saw (mentioned in the interrogation) and her being saved on Lah’mu are related. Also, I think it would improve the scene to cut the shot where we see her eyes poking out at the Death Troopers… they’re so obvious and well-lit that it just makes the empire look incompetent.
i) Cassian is really scared about being in Jedha, but Jedha isn’t actually that scary. I think more tense music (Like what was played in the leadup to Ghorman) plus sounds of distant civil unrest, tie fighter scrambling, etc would greatly improve the atmosphere of the section.
j) During the Jedha tank sequence, I think that there needs to be a music cue that syncs up with 2Tubes seeing Cassian kill a partisan. Right now it reads a little awkward.
k) I think Cassian gawking at Jyn beating up the Stormtroopers is a little tonally dissonant with how violence is typically portrayed in Andor. Same with the “Is your foot okay” comment from Chirrut. Idk how much they can be edited around though.
EPISODE 2 NOTES
a) I thought the x wing bombing run music was a little too triumphant. Should feel a bit more messy, hectic, and morally grey.
b) The transition to Jyn mourning to them escaping landing pad is a little rough, but it’s also rough in the original cut, so idk how much can be done.
EPISODE 3 NOTES
a) I think as we begin to approach the dawn of A New Hope, it’s okay to let in some of the more traditional, Williams-esque scoring of the original Rogue One. Specifically, Bail and Mon’s conversation about sending Leia to find Obi Wan actually makes a lot of sense to score like A New Hope… I genuinely don’t think doing so would be fan service. If it is fan service, they earned it.
b) I think there needs to be some kind of orchestration around 7:40 (landing/uniform stealing sequence)
c) I think there needs to be some kind of orchestration around the explosions/imperial reaction at 12:15ish. This is the rebels catching the bad guys off guard, music should be used both to convey the triumph and the confusion of imperials no longer feeling invincible.
d) I personally feel like the R2/C3PO cameo is a bit gratuitous – they don’t contribute to the themes or drama beyond simple recognition. I would prefer this removed, but I understand it’s a matter of subjectivity and that the scene might be hard to edit around otherwise.
e) At 16:45, I think the arrival of the rebel fleet earns the rebel theme fanfare. Maybe not the whole song, but I think the motif deserves to be there, if within your capabilities as an editor.
f) At 22:30, I think there should be some orchestration around K2 body slamming those imperials.
g) At 23:55, if within your capabilities, I think someone yelling “For Ghorman!” would be a great bit of added continuity.
h) Once Jyn reaches the top of the tower + the star destroyer impact should be a bit more triumphant. There might be a section from the Rebel Suite Andor OST that would work?
i) At 37:34, when Krennic asks who Jyn is, I think the Rogue One’s dialogue is perhaps too verbose, especially if we want to draw a parallel to Andor/Syril’s “Who are you?” in season 2. I think we could do with Krennic asking “Who are you”, cutting to Jyn looking back to him, cutting to Krennic seeing the resemblance, cutting to him getting shot in the back by Cassian, or some variant. It also reinforces Jyn lunging at his body and Cassian pulling her away – she didn’t get the catharsis of a triumphant speech.
j) I think Past/Present Suite playing as the plans are received/the death star arrives is wrong. My vote is either the original scoring or the Andor/Rogue One song used at the end of Season 2.
k) I’m not sure how I feel about the longing eye contact between Cassian and Jyn in light of Bix in season 2. To cut it or leave it untouched is purely a subjective creative decision though, there’s nothing technically wrong with it. Definitely looks Cassian look a little non-monogamous though lol, which isn’t what I would want the audience to be thinking about in this moment.
l) I think for the Vader hallway scene, you kind of have to go with the more classic orchestration… the day of spycraft and nameless sacrifices is almost over, we are now firmly in the era of operatic war heroes and villains and music should reflect that. Good choice cutting the Vader comic book pose though… felt so fasc apologist.
m) A possible controversial/out of scope note, but I think perhaps the best place for B2/Bix/Baby is not at the end of Season 2… Gilroy had to put that there because he is releasing TV series, not a director’s cut of Rogue One. But I think the best place for that scene isn’t in the finale, it’s after Leia’s scene. I think Leia talking about hope, the shot mirroring Cassian’s death… that’s just where it belongs dramatically.
+1 on cutting Krennic and Jyn’s dialogue beyond “Who are you?”
“Who are you?”
close up of Jyn’s face when Krennic is saying “I lose nothing but time.”
close up of krennic as he is shot
maybe Galen shouldn’t be able to share any words with his daughter either. She just runs up to him and he’s already gone. “Nothing you can do about that.”
I support removing any tension at all between Jyn and Cassian. Of course them looking at eachother in the elevator but him getting close and saying “welcome home” might be too far, too. Maybe trim some of Cassian holding Jyn back from krennic, too.
Plus the music during the last minutes of episode three should probably also be swapped out. There’s probably something from season 2 that would fit really well.
Also during Cassians big speech in episode 2 I think you should edit out Jyn’s sarcastic “I appreciate the support.” to let Diego have his big moment. The shots around a later reaction shot of Jyn are taken from the same take and edit seamlessly together if you still need to cut away for continuity.
I am excited to give this a watch. Had a flick through so far and it looks great!
I think opening with the Erso/Krennic flashback feels a bit out of place now in the Andor format. Maybe it makes for a better cold open for episode 2 instead of episode 1? Could make ‘Stardust’ feel a bit like an Erso-centric episode, fitting as they will be reunited (briefly) here, and the episode closes on Jyn already. The scene also leads nicely into Krennic celebrating the destruction of Jedha, showing how long he has been working on the project. His relationship with Galen is set up to be paid off in this episode too. From a purely OCD standpoint, it’ll help balance the running time of all 3 episodes. I need to have a proper watch though. Starting over on Andor and ending with this, can’t wait.
A couple quick things now after the release of the season 2 finale, since you’ve mentioned that you plan to do a V2:
First, please tell me you’ll be adding new “previously on Andor” openings featuring clips from season 2. I know not everyone loves them but to me they add so much to the momentum of the narrative, especially when you’re not watching episodes back to back, and seeing clips from Andor and Rogue One side by side in one of these montages I think would do wonders to build a sense of continuity.

Second, I’ve seen it mentioned by at least one other commenter that the Vader Hallway/New Hope setup scene should be moved prior to the credits. I’m gonna have to STRONGLY disagree on that one.
Post credits scenes were nailed by the MCU during the first couple of phases of the Infinity saga, and I think they were always so cool because they played on the events of the movie in question but handled the setup of a plot that, strictly speaking, wasn’t really relevant to the immediate story being presented. Well, in the same way the Skywalker saga and the Andor saga are distinct, even if they share a timeline and universe. I think with Rogue One being recontextualized to serve the story of Andor now more than the story of A New Hope, the scene makes the immediate story feel a bit clunky; however, when moved to after the credits, it feels very satisfying as a standalone scene as well as a setup for the next film. Definitely wouldn’t change anything about it. I also love that it ends in silence and cuts to black- very poignant.
Final point on that as well, I feel it would be more consistent in a weird sort of way to keep it. Season 1 features a post credits scene while season 2 does not, but if these episodes function like the true end of season 2 then it feels appropriately symmetrical.
Superb. Ciao again!
I agree thematically with most of these cut ideas, but I worry about how much we’d realistically have left since Rogue One’s editing is quite breakneck as-is. It’s a shame there’s no full deleted scenes available honestly.

Here’s how I’d cut Jyn and Krennics interaction (link expires in two days)

I understand your concern entirely… I hope most of these can work out but it could get rough
@snooker wow that’s actually way cleaner than I thought it would be
Watching the first ep now, and I love this. Especially love your cuts to the opening, and the use of the Andor soundtrack. It’s fantastic.

I think Lah’mu Flashback Part 1 should begin with Jyn running to her home as Krennic’s shuttle flies overhead, with the following additional modifications:
- We exclusively see information that Jyn has access to – we see the ship when she does, we can’t see her parents if she isn’t with them.
- When Jyn is packing we hear Lyra making a call and saying “It’s Lyra. It’s happened. He’s come for us.” But we are not shown/told who she is speaking to.
- We show Jyn returning to listen in on Galen/Krennic’s conversation earlier, giving us a POV into the interaction
This sequence will end when Lyra is killed and the Death Troopers begin fanning out, with adult Jyn waking up in prison, leaving the audience to wonder what happens in between.

I agree with many of your notes, but these in particular are probably a smart way to handle things in the opening scenes. In line with my comment about fixing some of the pacing issues coming off of Andor.
On the subject of post-credits sequences, I’m firmly of the belief that the Vader/Leia stuff should be kept to post-credits. It fits with what Andor did in season 1, and it works to keep the main part of the story focused on our actual main characters.
As to the Bix scene. First off, this edit isn’t touching the main series, so it would seem odd to put that at the end of this edit. But even more than that, I think it’s impossible to watch the ending of Andor and not sense that it’s crafted as a series finale, or at least real season finale. That montage of characters at the end, for example. It has the sense of the an ending, but also the beginning of something new. I think in that respect, it’s okay to think of Rogue One, even in this Andor arc edit, to be something more like a sequel miniseries, or like a British style Christmas special, bridging Andor with A New Hope. It doesn’t literally have to be the Andor finale. It’s the story being handed off to Jyn to some degree, before being handed off to the Skywalkers. Which really just fits thematically anyway. In that context, Bix at the end of Andor is the right call.
I’d love a link for this!
Thank you for doing this!
I loved the edits a ton, my favorite parts were the dream sequence / flashback Jyn had with her dad / the imperials, how Darth Vader was introduced in this version where it actually felt menacing instead of like bloated fanservice, and of course the split ending of ep three with Andor’s finale being before the credits and the pre-new hope stuff post credits.
about the only complaint I had soundtrack wise was using the prison escape music on Eadu, it just didn’t quite fit, though that might just be partially be me just absolutely adoring that music in its original context and seeing it elsewhere makes me feel strange because its quite literally in my favorite scene in all of Andor.
The only other critique is that scene with R2D2 and C3PO, it always kind of annoyed me in a this is excessive fanservice kind of way. I guess its more justified than most of the fanservice because it kind of establishes that a new hope is going to be setup soon, though the dialogue between Mon Mothma and Bail Organa about him returning home and having someone to work with him that he very much trusts (Leia), kind of do the same thing but a little less in your face about it.
The general vibe of the whole thing felt a lot grittier and more in the mud than the original, this was good and made the film (well episodes here) overall more engaging. Looking forward to what you do now that season 2 is done.
I want to say @NFBisms thank you for this re-edit and I’m super excited to see what you do now that S2 has finished.
I think my favourite part of the edit was the first 2 episodes. The cuts felt really smart (especially the Vader scene) which made the first 2/3 of Rogue feel a lot better paced and more like a final episode arc of Andor. The use of music felt really well done to maintain that continuity with the series.
Episode 3 I actually would be super interested if you’ll make adjustments to the scoring and music there?
EPISODE 3 NOTES

This actual mirrors my thoughts really well. I feel like more music in the Scarif battle would help a lot of the battle / emotional aspect flow better.
Using more of the general tension tracks from Andor could have helped a lot to build out the soundscape and make it flow better when we go into high octane tracks like “Climb” when Cas and Jyn were climbing up the data tower.
I especially agree about the destruction of the Star Destroyers, that’s my favourite moment from Rogue One and I think using some of the Andor Rebellion Suite (especially at 2.23) when the Destroyers hit each other would be epic and really help hammer the heroism and little moment of triumph here.
Actually one more thing, I absolutely love keeping Vader in the post-credits scene.
Not seeing Vader in the entire series and then only showing up in a post credit that leads into ANH is actually such an awesome escalation.
Its like a book epilogue telling you that the Cassian’s story is done, and now we are moving into a higher escalation tier of Star Wars with the force and Jedi.
Hello! Like so many others here, I’m brand new to the site but would love to watch this without having to wait the full week to send a PM… After the Season 2 finale, my hype for this thing is through the roof. Not sure if it’s possible to get a link since new accounts can’t even view PMs (to my knowledge), but would be great if there’s a workaround!
You could probably DM me on Fanedit.org? I’ve been getting a lot of requests on there from new accounts.
But also, I don’t how true that rule is for here? I’ve been getting a lot of requests from new accounts on here too lol
not a Jedi apologist or a Jedi hater but a secret third thing
NFBisms, I’d love to know what your feelings are with this now Andor has come to an end. Did you get the sounds you hoped for? Has it made you rethink anything unexpected?
- Bor Gullet. It doesn’t really make sense why Bodhi doesn’t remember who he is without these scenes.
- One shot of Tarkin is missing the deep fake in the first scene. This shot is missing from Shamook’s folder though, so might not be able to do anything about it.
- Krennic commenting on the death star blast, “Oh it’s beautiful.”
I don’t really agree with this. I think it’s more effective that we don’t see it. We can assume he’s been tortured without attributing it to a goofy alien. I do miss “Oh, it’s beautiful”, but maybe the pacing just didn’t work with where NFBisms wanted to split the episode.
