Hell fucking yeah. Maybe Cassian should’ve spent more time in the main story as opposed to lost in a side quest on Yavin for a couple episodes but other than that, what is there to say? Star Wars is back.
The same critics also said TLJ was the best Star Wars movie ever too…
I can not find a review online of The Last Jedi by Nicholas Quah. Do you have a source you can cite?
Let me clarify. Movie critics in general said TLJ was the best Star Wars movie ever, which it was not.
Now the same people say andor is the best.
My point being that their word has absolutely no weight at all.
well mine does, & they’re right this time

I loved the 3 epidode opener of season 2 and I think this show is ,indeed , some of the best Star Wars anything . For the most part , grounded and realistic , reflective of our own world and thought provoking ,at times uncomfortable ,but I think that is by design . My first thoughts after watching were…Ho Lee Shit ! They saw our future ,especially seeing as prduction of this season began in November of 2022 !

Seconded 😃
The Star Wars sitcom we never knew we needed! I love their off-screen chemistry - a lot of content like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCMlvrctBjY & www.youtube.com/shorts/wTlJPKjmB2Q & www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1n7gTCkBbU Throw in Mosk and K2SO as recurring guests too!

Which is exactly why I have the same problem with this season as I had with season one. WAY too much time spent doing nothing. We spent two episodes in S1 building stick & mud models of the ship hanger and two more episodes building parts of the Death Star (come on, we all new immediately that’s what they were building). This season we’ve already spent two episodes watching knuckleheads stranded in the jungle argue and play rock-paper-scissors.
And don’t get me started on the episode wasted on watching the young couple Baroque dancing for 20 minutes. WTF? The saving grace is that many of those scenes had Genevieve O’Reilly, who I find gorgeous. That said, I could have done without 10 minutes of her at a rave.
I thought the story and scenes on Mina-Rau to be the most engaging so far. Interesting side story that fits in Star Wars universe. I’ll keep watching, but three episodes in I already feel like I did three quarters of the way through season one.
really liked this first 3 episodes and the format to release 3 eps for week too week, i think soo far it has a better beginning than the first season, more stuf happens and andor is in a very fucked situation but that aplly for any other character in the show hahaha, the cinematography and directing are really good and the acting is really great too 9/10 (for the 3 episodes)

Pretty much sums up my thoughts too, mate.
It is really pleasing to see so much positivity online for Andor (from both critics and fans alike - which makes for a refreshing change; especially on the social media platforms - and also even the algorithm-promoted ‘/attention/hate-for-clicks’ content).
At the end of the third episode I just wanted to watch the next batch of episodes straight away - and I haven’t said or felt like that about Star Wars material in a long time. Kudos to everyone involved in this carefully crafted and beautifully executed series - and I hope the rest of the season is just as good and as compelling. 👍
A word of praise on the humour in this so far: it isn’t out of place or ‘too much’… nor did it break the tone or impact of the scenes before, during, or after it (unlike many previous Star Wars has featured over the years - all the way back to the Prequels).
Diego Luna, Adria Arjona and Tony Gilroy discuss ‘Andor’ season 2 - a 22 minute insightful youtube video from Associated Press
^ The blurb: ‘The “Star Wars” series created by Tony Gilroy and starring Diego Luna tells the story of a growing revolutionary resentment against the Galactic Empire and the birth of the Rebel Alliance, leading up to the events of 2016’s “Rogue One.” The AP’s Andrew Dalton sat down with Gilroy, Luna and co-star Adria Arjona to talk about surprising turns in the story, creative freedom and the many layers of rebellion. The second season began this week with the first three episodes.’

I think you just have to get used to the idea that not everything is going somewhere or building to anything. Sometimes it’s supposed to just be fluff about human behavior or something.
I thought everything was really tastefully done including the one scene with Bix, except for the over the top references to undocumented illegal alien farm workers. I get that that kind of thing could happen because the Empire is full of oppressive busybodies who love getting people in trouble for paperwork, but I think the implication that that’s an analogous situation to the US is kind of crass.

I think the extended time on Narkina really built the feeling of oppressive atmosphere, just as the buildup to the heist built the tension.
This season we’ve already spent two episodes watching knuckleheads stranded in the jungle argue and play rock-paper-scissors.
My take-away from all that was how badly they need a military structure, chain of command, etc. I assume Cassian took this lesson as well and will be working on reforming the various cells.
And don’t get me started on the episode wasted on watching the young couple Baroque dancing for 20 minutes.
I did think that went on a little long
WTF? The saving grace is that many of those scenes had Genevieve O’Reilly, who I find gorgeous. That said, I could have done without 10 minutes of her at a rave.
I thought maybe there was a little too much rave, but overall it was about showing Mon totally losing it, unable to do anything but hide in drink & dance from the reality of what’s going on
It is starting to become crass, doing this kind of story with nuance is one thing but the blunt dialogue and the treatment of Bix started to feel more like Zack Snyder than SW. Would she face the same treatment every season if it wasn’t ending with S2 like women from older sci-fi shows? They want to be brazen and look at colonial rule with unvarnished stories but at the same time it’s like veering into weird edgelord type stuff. Teenagers that want SW to be “cool and adult” would write that kind material in a fanfic, and I’m not sure it’s worth further alienating certain viewers over. The rest of it was good but could have been 2 episodes easily.
I do appreciate what Gilroy has to say about it:
Ultimately, the only reason it would ever feel “edgy” is because it’s Star Wars, but being blunt about it is more tasteful, mature, and sensitizing than acting like you snuck in something ~naughty~ into a typically kids-friendly property. I respect it. Star Wars’ history with SA in that regard is far grosser than how it’s used here as a terrifying truth about Empire and what it can empower.

Yeah I’m well aware of his stance but I’m still on the fence about it.
It’s fine. It wasn’t made to be titillating in any way. The most kid unfriendly part of it is the two bludgeoning each other over the head until the officer has brain damage and dies.
NFB I don’t know what you mean by “Star Wars’ history with SA”.

just all the sex slavery. I think the biggest offenders are the cartoons playing it coy about that being what’s going on when women are bought and sold at auctions. It’s treated very callously, like a fact of the universe - but doesn’t even center on the ugly traumatic experience of the victims like it is here. It’s just always been there because it was there at Jabba’s Palace so it’s “Star Wars”-y enough to be included. Twilek women portrayal in general was in an odd, skeevy place pop culturally until the late 2010s, and it seeps into how they were portrayed throughout Star Wars media up to that point. But even Rebels falls into making comedic light of Hera being bought and sold for ~reasons~.
At least Jabba is only shown forcibly licking and killing a Twilek slave so that he can get comeuppance later (like the Imperial in Andor). Filoni still wants you to think Death Watch is an honorable and cool warrior culture after showing them take concubines post-village sacking.

there was a clone wars arc about sex slaves with anakin ashoka obi wan and rex so this isn’t new

That’s true. I guess people think about it as a separate category because twi’leks are specifically colorful aliens and you don’t see people actively trying to rape them. People in and out of universe do love sexy twi’leks, especially George Lucas. (The only two characters he wanted to import from the EU lol)

Finally watched Andor and it is sure the best Star Wars Disney has produced. It has the details and patience of better call Saul (although I suspect it will go total speed run now after ep 3) and the charm and grittiness of Empire Strikes Back.
I would never think that putting story and characters above anything else would bring out so much value for the audience. 😉
I hope the final scene of Andor ends just before the opening of Rogue one, but with The Emperor showing up, telling other Governors to leave the room, and frying the absolute shi* out of whomever will inevitably fail him (either the female or male antagonist for sure, or both). Watching it in the context of Andor where not a single force user is present would give so much earned shock value to what most people would find a cheap and predictable trope.
In other words, brilliant job, Disney, and keep hiring and focusing on Star Wars stories and character above anything else - and leave the real-life politics to the politicians. This is for the fans. ❤️

Hilarious comment considering that these three episodes are BY FAR the most political Disney Star Wars has ever been. It’s not very subtle, either.

I’m refering to season 1. Yet to start season 2.
You glossed over my key words: real-life politics - trying, at least, to refer to the current geopolitical climate at this current time, although i left room to misinterpret - whether you wanted to do that purposefully or not.
I shall rephrase: they are not announcing Andor as a gender empowerment or a geopolitical landscape on which actors can change the world on; they’re just trying to make a good story, and that is what the series is, has been presented as and has left the audience with.
