I fully expect Lucas to present some lame-o Midichlorian explanation for the young Anakin vision at the end of the film in Revenge of the Sith. Not that the explanation will rectify matters, but I do think he'll try.

I participated in a DVD marathon last week ... luckily, I didn't have to buy the DVDs before I saw them. Every single person in the room (30+ in age) wailed at every change. I'm sorry ... but the lightsabers were always fine. The explosions were always fine. None of this stuff needed to be spiffed-up. The FX were groundbreaking in the day ... now they're standard CGI ... no better than what's seen in The Star Wars Kid videos.

And something else ... while the DVDs' film quality was crystal-clear, the first two movies didn't have the same look as Star Wars did when seen in a theater. The colors were sharpened beyond anything that was seen in the day ... it's not the same color composition anymore. Everyone looks like they're wearing orange makeup (which they probably were ... because such makeup was expected to fade out to a natural fleshtone on film).

Frankly, if Lucas has issues with his first three films ... then he should freakin' REMAKE THEM FROM SCRATCH. New actors; new everything. But leave the original films as-is. As far as I'm concerned, he's had his chance to make Star Wars films with every modern toy available ... they're the prequels, and I happen to hate them.

That's what you're doing ... trolling. Gee, I read somewhere that the purpose of this site was to get Lucas to release the O-OT's on DVD. Where was that at? Oh yeah, right here:

Personally, my definition of a fanboy is someone who laps-up any and every product associated with a genre property ... regardless of quality or integrity.

Exactly. Lucas has quashed all hope for a proper release. Why take it on the chin like a wimp if being nice about it will have no effect?

And you know ... I silently steamed about the direction of Star Wars UNTIL Lucas had to be a condescending prick with his "sorry you fell in love with my first vision" tripe.

I firmly believe that had Saturday Night Live not mocked NSYNC, the group would have remained in the film (BTW: I enjoyed Saturday Night Live's sendup more than the finished movie). Had Luke's girly scream in Empire not been mocked to high-heaven and low-hell, he wouldn't have removed it. Clearly, being polite goes nowhere in Lucas' world.

Ever since the SE's came out, Hell ever since the Ewoks fanboys and fangirls have been bitching. You can't claim you tried to be nice and it didn't work, because the thought of being respectful toward the guy never entered into most hater's heads.

Exactly, and not only does Peeler not any taste, but he has no clue what the accepted definition of a fanboy is.

Alsong with Asha's fine definition, the core of a fanboy is to give up free will, and accept everything from that subculture as the gospel, regardless of its quality or logic.

I'd like to ask the fanboys one simple question regarding their arguments against releasing the OT on DVD:

What are you afraid of?

We all know what Lucas is afraid of, that the OT would easily outsell the crappy SSE 2004 edition, and he'd have to weather the ridicule and embarassment of the general public slamming not only his crappy prequels, but his terrible updates of the classic OT. That's why Lucas would never release the OT, because he wants the terrible SSE 2004 edition to win by default.

But what do the fanboys have to fear? Why are they so against the OT?

That's what I'd like to know. I'd love to interact on Starwars.com or theforce.net, but the second I see someone say, "I don't really like the SE", they get torn to shreads. They're not even complaining, just stating, and they're labeled Lucas-hating prequel bashers. What is the big deal? We don't mind that you love the DVDs, why must we be made fun of because we prefer old special effects?

Lord Peeler, please stop being so general in your witchhunt. If you dislike this board and its members, please speak your mind elsewhere. Not because we don't want you here, but because this site issn't for you if this is the case. All we ask is constructive posts. Do you honestly think the opinions of a forum is going to affect his decision. Bashing Lucas will no more hurt our cause than kissing up to him will help it.

Sam_Lu, you too are pushing buttons, please be calm and fair. I agree with what you're saying, but there's no need to be hostile. It's obvious that you're passionate about this, but fighting solves nothing.

Luke, please don't leave. You are a valued member of this board and we would all hate to see you go.

Darth Al, it's great that you love the changes, more power to you, but why do you come to a haven for those who don't? I welcome you here, but please, contribute, don't rile. We get too much of that elsewhere.

Face it, if you were on "specialedition.com" and some guy came in and rubbed in how much he loved his original version DVDs, and you didn't have DVDs of the SE(provided the situation were reversed), how'd you feel? I don't even care if I get Star Wars on DVD, as I don't mind VHS. What I do mind is that Lucas, a man I respected growing up, won't give his fans the choice he has to choose. I mind that anyone who speaks against any change, for better or worse, gets attacked because "they live in the past". You have your version, where's the harm in letting us have ours? Let's all try being considerate of one another.

Well, since you want to claim I'm a Lucas fanboy, please point out the post in which I ever said I don't want to see the O-OT on DVD.

A fanboy likes what he likes and bashes everything else. An example would be someone who likes the Original cut of the OT and hates everything Lucas has done since.

I like the O-OT, I wish it was on DVD. But I think calling Lucas a "rapist" isn't the way to go.

And other than pointing out were the fanboys have made shit up, I really haven't defended the PT or the SE's. I posted that nobody booed TPM. That's a fact, not a defense. I posted that the DVDs made over $80 million in a single day, so not everyone who likes them is a Lucas mole. That's a fact, not a defense.

I was referring to badkarma's BS about Lucas "raping" the OT.

Still can't find an example of me actually defending the DVDs or the PT other than pointing out that the DVDs are selling like hotcakes and nobody ever booed the PT, can you?

A fanboy likes what he likes and hates everything else. Some of the O-OT's fanboys here love only the O-OT and passionatly hate everything else Lucas has done to the point were you can't discuss things rationally with them. I mean they even go so far as to say anyone who says they like the DVDs are "Lucas moles" and make up stories about how people booed TPM in the theater and that ILM, the company that created CGI, doesn't know how to do CGI.

It's like PS2 fanboys vs. XBOX fan boys. Tell a PS2 fanboy that GTA is better on XBOX and they'll say "Nuh Uhh!" and claim the PS2 graphics are better. To people like that the idea of owning both a PS2 and an XBOX makes somebody a "game system traitor".

Or LOTR fanboys vs. Star Wars fanboys. God forbid somebody love both.

It's an immature attitude, and in the case of this site it really hurts our cause.
