The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 549

Yeah it’s lore breaking and fan service-y, but rest assured Hal said he’ll be sticking with the Phantom Four.

I know what Hal wants, I’m just hoping jonh will export V3 for Hal to add to the Drive folder as an alternative for other editors to use.

Its lore breaking because Qui gon cannot become a force ghost, he was only able to become a voice, never able to fully become visible as stated in the clone wars.

Mace was never taught the ability either. And Ahsoka has never been shown to have died yet, the reason you can hear her voice is because the novelization shows rey was sort of looking into the world between worlds if that makes sense, so it would likely not age well.

Hey, Sherlock, what about the “I’m a Jedi” line? Are you satisfied with the current version or still need some fixes? Anything we could help?

I was reasonably satisfied with the latest version (reposted below), although an extra set of ears would definitely be appreciated! Especially since it’s been a little while, and we’ll be able to listen to it fresh.

Did a little more smoothing out on “I” and “am a.” Is it any better?

Also, maybe I’ve watched this clip too many times, but what if Palps says, “I am all the Sith. You are nothing. A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me.” Sade, you’re the expert - did we try it that way already? Would it make any significant difference to the scene?

Hell if I know.

I will also say that I know CaptainFaraday was trying to fiddle with it as well; but I’m not sure if he was able to make any more progress since he and I last spoke.

First time listening to this: I think the only part that needs work is “am a”, it’s said pretty quickly and sounds just a little bit clippy. But the audio of the rest of the scene works great, and the line itself is a fantastic change

Nah, the LUTs already in use are better, if I remember right.

Here’s two clips. The finished puppet show and conference room (complete with “Captain Hux”).

That puppet show looked flawless to me, even in fullscreen. Wouldn’t think twice about it if I’d never seen the film. I love the design of the AT-M6 too, making it look like an animal.

‘Captain Hux’ sounds reeaally close to perfect, but there is a noticeable splice. If ‘Captain’ could be made to inflect more down in pitch at the end it could sound more natural.

I suppose you are right, but if I remember, didn’t Obi-Wan and Yoda help Anakin appear physically in the afterlife so he could see Luke and Leia on Endor? It’s possible that they could’ve helped the others as well. Just a thought, that’s all.

In cannon there isn’t yet an explanation as to how Anakin turned into a force ghost, atleast I think.
I believe before EU became legends, here was some novelization that said Obi-Wan told Vader how to do it right before Vader had died. In his head similar to how Obi-Wan contacted Luke.

I mainly remember that in the epilogue to the 2007 novelization, The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader by Ryder Windham.

Just jumping in again to ask if Captain Faraday has managed to make any more progress with the Jedi voices scene… Are you still having those same issues mate? I can always take a look at it if you’re needing a second opinion on something.

I haven’t had the chance to have a look at it, but it shouldn’t be more than an hour’s work on my end to finish it. I’ve been pressed for time for hobbies due to Real Life Stuff happening.

All of these attempts feel almost but not quite there. I think that it has to do with how he says the word ‘end’ as if it’s the final word of the sentence. The word needs a bit more attack and depth here in the middle of the sentence.

Yup. I will say this sounds closer to me than v4, but that might just be because I don’t have headphones rn.

Somehow I feel like V4 worked a little better…

Can’t speak for everyone else though.

I agree here. I think ideally, I’d like a v4 (the “end” seems to hit harder there) with a very brief pause after “Leia told me…” for dramatic effect.

However, I personally think v4 or v5 are now passable enough in execution, and worth it as a concept, that the line should be added to the movie, either in its current state or in a further-improved version.

Since Hal seems to like v5 enough, I vote upgrading the line’s status from “Things being considered” to “Things waiting on others,” with the final product being whenever Sherlock is satisfied.

Idk what you guys are saying v5 is leagues better than v4 lol

I agree v5 is really good, the softened transition into “end” makes it flow much better. Not 100% seamless but like Hal said you probably woudn’t pick it up unless you’re looking for it. I think it’s good enough to consider implementing it.

Do you even need the line at all? Luke already tells us it’s the last night of Leia’s training, and omitting any further elaboration on that lets you headcanon that she’s just moving into politics, or is just finished with whatever Luke had to teach her, or something. The idea of Leia saying something along the lines of “I have sensed the end of my Jedi path!” is hilarious to me - then again, she apparently also took the time to prophesise that her lightsaber would be picked up again by someone else, so Luke should hide it in his hut…

“Luke! I’ve sensed that my son is going to die if I continue training. This is the end of my Jedi Path.”
“Wow, that sucks, but fair enough.”
“Ah, but someone will pick my saber up again, and finish my journey.”
“I see. Wouldn’t that also lead to your son dying?”

I actually feel like it is sort of important to make it clear that Leia didn’t finish her Jedi training. Luke has to be the last Jedi, after all. I actually find it funny that the writers even specified that it was her last night of training.

Sensed the End v5: https://streamable.com/y02l42

Thoughts?

My wife hears nothing wrong with it. She hasn’t seen the film since theatres so she couldn’t even tell it was changed.

For me, I will like end needs to be more full, it sounds too whispered in context. But dang its close…

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

I obviously wouldn’t turn down further tweaking but I hear zero wrong with V5, and I’d have no reservation about using it. Regardless, whenever you are happy with it just send it my way and it’s in. 😃
