I thought she was there two thirds of the way through TLJ, but yes, you’re right.

Nope. Her TLJ arc was about moving past her parents and realizing she shouldn’t hinge her life and worth around them specifically, because they’re toxic, drunken parents who threw her away like garbage, and realizing that she can still get validation from the Resistance. Just because that, doesn’t mean she suddenly, magically stops feeling unworthy of her role as a Jedi.

I’d say Rey’s arc had climaxed pretty well in TLJ at the time of viewing. Her rejection of Kylo in the throne room is when she decides that she’s going to be a Jedi, no matter what Luke or Kylo say or who her parents were. It’s only in retrospect now that her story was “incomplete” then, with TROS saying “nah, she’s still not over her parents and still doesn’t feel worthy of being a Jedi, even though TLJ showed her successfully overcoming both of those personal challenges.”

You could argue it goes even further back than that. In TFA, Rey taking the saber and fighting Kylo is where she accepts her destiny with the Jedi and Maz’s words that her future is ahead of her, not back with her parents on Jakku. It was only after that in TLJ that they say “well maybe she only agreed to bring Luke back, not become the hero herself, and she’s still concerned about her parents and external validation even if she’s not going back to Jakku just yet.”

Rey basically has the same arc in each of the three movies, just going a bit more into the details each time. Obviously now that internal story ends with TROS, but which of the three climaxes was most satisfying at the time of each movie’s release is up to the viewer, as 8/9 could have just as easily said “that part of Rey’s internal conflict is over now, here’s a new challenge for her.”

@Neerb She only chooses to be a Jedi because, well… who else is supposed to protect the Resistance? Luke isn’t going, and Kylo Ren is so obviously the bad guy.

Flipping through the movie, and there are a few lines that help the line change of “I’m a Jedi” quite a bit. Things like, “She’ll never be a Jedi - Make sure of it” and “You tried to prove to my mother that you’re a Jedi, but you’ve proven something else.”

Yeah, her main struggle in the film is feeling worthy of taking the Jedi mantle itself, so that line is more poignant for her character, “all the Jedi” relates more to the broader Sith vs Jedi conflict this film sets to conclude (after resurrecting), but having the Jedi spirits stand behind her and lend her their help is enough to imply that element in a visual manner.

Speaking of “She’ll never be a Jedi”, is it possible to add “any longer” to that? Because in the movie she already is a Jedi.

She is a Jedi apprentice/Padawan, yes. But she is not a Jedi Knight yet, which would make her a complete Jedi. That’s why Vader says Luke isn’t a Jedi yet on Cloud City.

I assumed he meant she wouldn’t ever reach her full Jedi knight status and potential. Like when Yoda tells Luke that he has to fight Vader to cement himself as a Jedi.

Besides as Hal said “She’ll never be a Jedi” retroactively contributes to the payoff of the “I’m a Jedi” line change.

During the approuch shot on Exegol that was extended with ILM footage, with all the ships flying towards the Final Order fleet. Perhaps a couple more ship sounds could be added?

If you’ve got appropriate sounds send them and I can try folding them into what’s there. Or if you’d like to lay some down yourself and send me the mix to be overlaid with what’s already there, that’d be fine too.

Just got word back from Speaking of AI. He’s currently improving his models to make them far more expressive. It may be a while before he gets back to me with the lines.

I’ve got the Sors Bandeam lines from Ross and I’m currently trying to integrate them into the Jedi Voices scene, however, I’m having difficulty because the audio mix is so dense at that point - the Jedi voices move across all the different channels, and have reverb and echo across some channels as well. I could really use some help from someone who’s good at separating music and voices from audio; I know it can be done with EQ tools, but I don’t have the technology or know-how to do it.

I found a pretty straightforward new program for this here:

Spleeter gives you two files, the music track free from vocals and vocals free from music. It’s not seamless, but it might make the difference.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Alternatively you could ask danieldubb for assistance, he seems to be an audio engineer:

Hey, Hal. Just need to know how important Kylo Ren’s new lines are for V2, that is, if you want them, of course. Along with Luke’s line, “Leia told me that she had sensed the birth of her son at the end of her Jedi path.”

I feel like we’re getting close to V2 being done.

Between jonh’s ghosts & haircut, the unstable lightsaber blade, and the puppet show, I think it’s still going to be a while before V2. Unless Hal is itching to get a v1.5 out.
