If you can only have one of these upcoming series... which would it be, and why?

I thought this would be a nice way to continue building excitement for the new Star Wars projects coming up - I also wanted to do it before The Bad Batch starts in what, a couple of weeks? I’ve left a bunch of upcoming shows like Star Wars: Visions, Rangers of the New Republic and A Droid Story out partly to narrow down the question or because we know little about them yet, but feel free to talk about them as well. This could be read as a ‘Which upcoming Star Wars show are you most excited for?’ thread.

I think my easy answer might be Mando season 3, because it’s an ongoing and unfinished story. But I’m maybe most excited for The Bad Batch right now because it’s so close, and the more I read of Light of the Jedi, the more I’m interested in The Acolyte, which is set in the same era.

If I had to pick one, I would probably go with the Acolyte. I’m looking forward to the franchise moving beyond the era of the Skywalker Saga. I think, if handled correctly, it could help Star Wars as a brand grow. The main Saga has a lot of context and baggage that I think makes it difficult for new fans to get into it, so a new series that started from scratch could be a great way to bring in new audiences and leave behind the chains of expectations that content like the Sequel Trilogy had.

But to be fair, I’m personally the most excited for Obi-Wan Kenobi at this point. But I think the Acolyte is arguably the most important out of the bunch. It’s success could have a big impact on the future of the franchise.

Not knowing anything about these, Lando is the only one that could interest me if it was 70s/80s style of underground/gambling/casino/smuggling thing. But I’m sure it’s something lame with his feminist droid.

I think it might be something like the former, and I know the concept artists definitely drew on influences in and around the 70s for Lando’s costume (Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Prince etc.) - they should go for that vibe again. I’m expecting a very stylish show maybe where an older Lando recounts his previous adventures. I liked L3 from Solo, though, and would be fine with her appearing. Not sure why she’d be considered feminist. You must be getting confused with the droid rights movement.

Acolyte. Boba Fett sounds cool, but I never needed it. Same with Obi-Wan. Mando’s on a bit of a soft ending, mostly everything they’ve been up to in the show has been concluded. I have absolutely no interest in Bad Batch or Andor, and the opposite of interest in the Ahsoka show. Don’t know enough about the Lando show to say anything.

Acolyte could be something fully creative and new and a full blank slate for Star Wars.

I’m most hyped for The Bad Batch right now, considering how amazing TCW Season 7 was, that said it’s a bit of a wildcard. On one hand, the characters weren’t that interesting in TCW and Filoni has a history for childish shows (Rebels / Resistance). On the other hand, this is being marketed as a direct continuation of TCW, with the same style and (at least from the trailers) a darker tone in line with Order 66. We’ll have to see if they keep Season 7’s darker tone: if they do, it will be one of my favorites, if not it will be super forgettable.

Safe choice: either the Acolyte or Boba Fett. Both have tons of potential and aren’t as up in the air as Bad Batch is.

Probably The Acolyte, mostly because of the exciting prospect of exploring the High Republic era. Maybe it will show us how the Republic and the Jedi entered the age of decline they were in Episodes I-III, retroactively improving the prequel era.

Andor for me.

‘Some of us - well, most of us - we’ve all done terrible things on behalf of the Rebellion. Spies, saboteurs, assassins. Everything I did, I did for the Rebellion. And every time I walked away from something I wanted to forget, I told myself it was for a cause that I believed in. A cause that was worth it. Without that, we’re lost. Everything we’ve done would have been for nothing. I couldn’t face myself if I gave up now. None of us could.’

I want to see that - including the formative years of the fledgling Rebellion.

Can’t shake a feeling we’ll likely be seeing some of the unused concepts for the canned Solo sequel films adapted for this - so hopefully we’ll get to see a little more Enfys Nest, Crimson Dawn and the other crime syndicates, some scoundrels, a few likely cameos from characters the other recently announced shows… yet also many previously unseen places and new intriguing characters too.

All in that Original Trilogy style feel, look and vibe…

Oh. And eventually this guy too:

Like a leaf on the wind.

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…
