Star Wars Pinball VR coming April 29th’:-

https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-pinball-vr

'Star Wars Pinball VR is set to launch with eight tables: the brand-new The Mandalorian and Star Wars Classic Collectibles tables, along with six remastered favorites, including Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Rebels, and Masters of the Force.

Star Wars Pinball VR will also feature some special modifications that take full advantage of the virtual reality experience. All of the action occurs in a fully customizable “fan cave,” which houses your in-game pinball table as well as many Star Wars helmets, lightsabers, and other items earned through successful play. Turn on the pinball table and the room comes to life — not only with a new table to play, but also with life-sized characters and vehicles joining you on either side. Meanwhile, Total Immersion mode allows you to experience everything at table level, and fully 360-degree minigames surround you with iconic Star Wars set pieces.’

I love the look of games like Battlefront and Fallen Order, especially when they visit familiar places, but I also love the Lego games that let you play through the movies themselves. What I really want is a game that looks as good as Battlefront and Fallen Order, that lets you play through the events of the actual movies and TV series in single player. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why every Star Wars movie and TV series doesn’t have its own game by now. EA squandered their exclusivity deal. They could have made a ton of money. There should have been Star Wars RPGs and racing games and so on.

They don’t really make tie-ins any more, I think the last one was Lego Force Awakens. It’s probably because the crunch time is too high and the margins are too low. Most other big franchises stopped trying too.

I think that’s because other franchises peak and decline so rapidly around the release of their respective movies, but I believe an Original Trilogy based game would still sell now. There’s a reason Lego: Skywalker Saga is so highly anticipated. Sure, some of it’s because of the well known gameplay and quality of previous titles, but I think people are also ready to relive those movies again.

Lots of scenes from the movies have been done in previous games, but as technology improves, people will want to see them again with improvements, not unlike the movies themselves releasing on a newer format.

Just my $0.02 on it all. The video game segment of Star Wars is the only part of the franchise I’ve been recently disappointed in. I just don’t care for Battlefront style play, but that is what’s most popular with everyone else I suppose.

Yeah the speed of movie releases these days compared to like 2005 is also a factor.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake reportedly in the works’:-

Yoda Stories on GBC was both infuriating and terrible-yet it helped to pass the time on long car rides.

I think the best new SW game in years is the modern 2017 Stern pinball machine that comes in a variety of editions. If you get the chance to play it-it is so loaded with modes and missions to select that you feel it needs a long manual to explain-yet is still a blast to play.

I originally posted this on the Shadows of the Empire thread, but I think it also fits this one:

So I dusted off my N64 and started replaying the SotE game.

Way back in the day I only finished it on Easy and Medium. Never played it on Hard and Jedi, and I always assumed that Jedi was the toughest difficulty setting but that’s not the case. Jedi is more of a “kill or be killed” type of difficulty, where enemies are essentially glass cannons that go down in one or two shots but do a lot of damage.

Holy shit this game is tough on Hard. I’m currently stuck on the Ord Mantell junkyard, and this is the difficulty setting is where your blaster does the least amount of damage.

I had nightmares about this and still do!

I wish I kept my old gaming magazines with hints and tips for the Star Wars games, tho I suppose YouTube video playthroughs make it a lot easier.
For the Ord Mantell level: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpKY5nqfrs8 it feels like IG 88 is on top of you, stalking you, always near, so it is more difficult to keep clam after playing a long level as this. Keep firing at him from a distance in long straight lines so you can hit, then run like crazy and get into another position and repeat!

Does anyone think the Week 10 page on https://www.starwars.com/bring-home-the-bounty is an actual game announcement? I think there is more chance for a Star Wars themed controller, maybe a collectors edition version of a PS5 box or decals for it?
Some game web sites are saying it is for a game, but these web sites seem to be more click bait or gossip than facts and news.

Is there any more news on this game?
Or was it a fake or fan made effort?

Some people have speculated there will be news of a new game in December, for Bring Home The Bounty: https://www.starwars.com/news/bring-home-the-bounty-announce because of the game controller icon used for the Week 10
release.
I hope it is a game, that it will be a Mandalorian game, but not getting all my hopes up that it will be a game at all.
Edit: Disney+ Day on the November 12 will may be give us some more news.

A movie or series set in the High Republic era I’d be a little skeptical about. An open world game however? Now there’s a thought.

Mostly because it would remind me of the Shadows of the Empire project. We’d get a nice game and some High Republic music as an added bonus. For now I can only dream…

Edit: just learned that Quantic Dream are the studio with an allegedly homophobic founder and CEO, and many allegations of toxic workplace environment. So, these are the guys supposedly handling the most diverse corner of the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Starfighter: Special Edition, The Clone Wars, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast have just been added to the Xbox backwards compatibility list.

That means that Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Lego Star Wars: The Video Game are the only titles from the original Xbox to be not available via backwards compatibility. I understand not wanting Lego Star Wars: The Video Game because Complete Saga has better editions of its levels, but Obi-Wan is a strange one to leave off. Given that the game can’t run on the two most prominent Xbox emulators (xemu and cxbx-reloaded), I suspect that the explanation is “technical reasons.” Either that or it’s a terrible game. I’m leaning towards a mix of both.

I was thinking of getting Jedi Knight II and Jedi Academy on PS4.

I wonder how they hold up.

The trailer looks good, as they all do. But the gamplay video left me a little cold. It seem very repetitive and similar to the 1st game, which is great if you enjoyed it, but looks to me as an expansion pack more than a new game that expands the story and adventure further.

I’ll wait to see some of the reviews and walkthrough videos a couple of months after release to see if this does surprise me and brings something new to the gameplay and series.

And I’m still hoping for that “open world” Star Wars game to happen! Has there been any solid news on that lately?

The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.
