The director of that film just passed. I haven’t seen Phantom, but I have seen Falling Down and it was great. Batman Forever, though…

A while back someone on the Discord suggested making a series telling the whole story of World War II by stringing together different WWII films. I think that’s a splendid idea.

To take things a step further, I wonder if it’d be possible to string together various zombie movies into one continuous apocalypse. Probably wouldn’t work as well, but who knows.

I’m sure there are other key events (mostly historical) that could be mashed together this way. WWII is certainly the most suitable candidate, though.

I would love to make/see a version of “Sucker Punch” where all the swords in the action scenes are replaced with lightsabers. The fights are all non-diagetic anyway and the movie already uses a lot of anachronistic music, so why not?

You’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Am I making Carrie Fisher’s ghost proud?”
Well, are ya, punk?

A while ago I was thinking about the idea of making a JJBA Part 5 edit using the PS2 voicelines and adding their corresponding music references

I thought the same of creating edits of the arcs of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 of Sonic X, using the dialogue and OST from the games (and also removing the anime original characters btw)

Integrate all of the Knightmare scenes from BVS and Snyder’s Justice League into one short film.

“Get over violence, madness and death? What else is there?”

I recently completed work on a new personal edit of Army of Darkness that I have come to call the “Jack and Shit Edition”. Since I have no intentions at this moment to share the edit online, I thought I’d just mention it here rather than make a whole thread about it.

The idea isn’t too dissimilar to previous edits, to make a long cut that combines the ‘best’ elements of multiple cuts into one. Additionally, my intention was to create an edit that is almost 100% faithful to the film (so I have removed very little footage, overall) and to have a longer cut that is Ash Vs Evil Dead friendly in terms of the film’s multiple endings. I used the Director’s cut from the Scream Factory release as a base and edited in segments of the Theatrical cut from the same set where desired. Changelist is as follows:

  • The colour of the Director’s cut has been slightly dulled across the board for the DC footage to better match the TC. The change has helped to blend the 2 versions more seemlessly, but I am not an expert on colour alteration. While it has helped considerably, I have also had to tweak the colours more extensively on a scene-by-scene basis to match up the footage to the best of my limited abilities.

  • The Dino De Laurentiis Communications production card has been reinserted whereas it has been removing, seemingly, from most versions of the film starting with the DVD era going forward. This was added for my own nostalgia of watching the film on VHS as a kid.

  • An extended version of the soundtrack was used for the opening of the film, using the Prologue track from the OST. The score now plays over the Universal and Dino De Laurentiis Communications production cards and have also been sped up to sync with the score mixed into the film’s audio track. This, I feel, lends to an even more epic feeling right from when the film starts up.

  • The TC version of the She-Bitch fight is retained, purely for the reason that the DC lacks the score present in the TC.

  • The TC version of “Gimme some sugar, baby” has been retained, so no hanky-panky sex scene or Sheila wrapping a blanket around Ash’s shoulders. This is done partially for pacing, but also because I don’t like showing Ash having a ‘good time’ more than is absolutely necessary. Plus, it’s been inferred through dialogue that they bone, we get it. We don’t really need to see it.

  • As other edits have done, the DC version of the Little Ashes scene has been restored with the score with the OST. I had to trim a bit here and there to make the footage and score sync up just right, but no more than 2 seconds of the scene is missing.

  • “Good, bad, I’m the guy with the gun” is retained over “I ain’t that good”.

  • The TC of the Graveyard skeletal “3 Stooges” shenanigans is retained over the DC version. Partially for pacing, but also because why would Ash bother taking time to tear off that skeleton’s arm? Just get the hell out of there!

  • “Yeah, and I’m a Chinese jet pilot…” is retained over “I need more men”.

  • The scene of Arthur’s men preparing to fire explosive arrows at the army of darkness has been trimmed for pacing. Only about 7 seconds of the bowmen holding their arrows have been removed, but the pacing is slightly improved for it.

  • The TC’s ending is retained for continuity with Ash Vs Evil Dead. I have always preferred the original post-apocalyptic ending over the S-Mart ending. I believe that the original is a more suitable ending for the trilogy, but now that AVED has a similar sort ending, I don’t mind putting AoD’s “I slept too long!” ending aside.

  • The Amboy Dukes track “Journey to the Center of the Mind” is used for the ending credits.

  • A modern “Renaissance Pictures” production card is attached post-credits.

This is not a complete overhaul of the film, mostly just scene or music swapping with tinkering to the colouring and the pace of some scenes, so it wasn’t a grueling project by any means. I’m still happy with it, the best editing project I have ever completed. It’s certainly good enough to be the first fanedit project of mine to talk about online, anyway. Just showed my dad the edit and he couldn’t detect any obvious editing seams, so I’m definitely happy about that.

Indiana Jones and the Island of the Dinosaurs

It’s Jurassic Park III with old Harrison Ford deepfaked over Sam Neil, his voiced dubbed by an impressionist, and his hat rotoscoped to be brown. Modern technology is toned down as much as possible to make it plausibly seem like the 50s or 60s. This unfortunately means cutting the satellite phone plot. Billy Brennan is now Dr. Jones’s paleontological advisor, since Jones himself obviously can’t fulfill that role.

Certain musical cues are replaced with the iconic Indy theme, but the rest can remain largely intact, as Don Davis masterfully imitated Williams’s signature style. The Jurassic Park theme should probably go, given its close association with the source material.

The island is reframed as a classical lost world that is typical of the Indy series’s genre of origin. Not sure what to do with all the manmade stuff, though. Prior expedition? Soviet research colony? You can’t remove it altogether as it’s in every other scene, including the unskippable runway sequence. The other question is why Jones would be dragged along in the first place.

Transformers Dark of the Moon with an alternate ending where Optimus Prime accepts Megatron’s truce
It would go like this:
-When Bumblebee deactivates the pillar, Cybertron begins to tear itself apart but it doesn’t become a wormhole (since in this version, Cybertron stays in Earth’s atmosphere until the end)
-After Megatron beats up Sentinel, his dialogue where he offers a truce to Optimus is slightly tweaked to make it sound more sincere
-Optimus moves his head, accepting the offer
-Sentinel talking about why he had to betray Optimus and his death is kept but the shots where Megatron’s corpse is seen are removed
-The ending is mostly the same, but with the shot of Optimus moving his head while seeing Sam is removed (because it was used earlier in a different context) and the shots where Megatron’s body is seen are also removed (since he lives)
-The speech that Optimus gives is tweaked to include lines from Transformers The Last Knight, inviting the Autobots to go home and that both races should join to repair their damaged planets
-While Optimus is giving his speech, some shots of the government cleaning Chicago in the aftermath of the conflict is inserted (From Transformers Age of Extinction) and also some shots from a disjointed Cybertron in Earth’s atmosphere (from The Last Knight)
-The Last shot of Optimus’ speech is a Cybertronian ship exiting Earth to repair Cybertron (actually the last shot from Optimus’ speech in The Last Knight)
-The screen cuts to the credits, while Steve Jablonsky’s soundtrack sounds in the background

Add Two-Face to one of the Burton Batman films using footage of Billy Dee Williams from Lady Sings the Blues.

“The TC’s ending is retained for continuity with Ash Vs Evil Dead. I have always preferred the original post-apocalyptic ending over the S-Mart ending. I believe that the original is a more suitable ending for the trilogy,”

I always thought you could super-cut something together so that the “I slept too long” thing transitioned into Ash telling about his adventures in the S-Mart, since the people he is talking to don’t believe him anyway. I never tried it, I’m sure it would take a little bit of fiddling, but it would be fun to try and see if you could cut them both together (obviously, there’s no footage to get him out of the slept too long, but it worked in Baron Munchausen).

I bet a eurobeat soundtrack would fit the Schumacher Batman films like a glove. Call it Beatman. Beatman Forever, and Beatman & Eurobin.

Create a third Schumacher Batman film using footage from Catwoman, Suicide Squad 1, and the Burton films.

String together the different Indiana Jones prologues into an extra film. The climax would be the China portion of Temple of Doom, leading directly into Temple of Doom.

Unrelated idea: Have the Michael Keaton Batman interact with a David Tennant Riddler by watching a recording or videochatting in the batcave using the easter egg from the Doctor Who story Blink.

Planet of the Apes 1968 Modern Edition - removing george taylor smoking in the spaceship, replacing the whole ship with modern style scifi ships ,
Added a cgi emotions in the Apes(Like Adywan did in the cantina scene from ANH),Added a Cgi Backgrounds like replacing the crappy outerspace from the beginning change the set of time in the cockpit of 1972 to 2011 to convince as a continuation of the reboot trilogy.

It’s not a bad idea… It would certainly be interesting to see an actual space shuttle perhaps lift some shots from buck rogers or moontrap. Certainly could be intetesting.

I’ve never seen it, but do you reckon there’s any footage from 2001 Tim Burton remake that could be repurposed for such a project?

Nah totally different vibe and personally I think that film is really bad. It’s got a lot wrong with it. It’s perhaps worthy of an edit to try and improve it but it does not come close to the original. It’s one of those films where you wish you never bothered.

Fan-edit Never Say Never Again and make it an actually decent movie.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist. I really should’ve thought my name out a bit more.

I’m not sure that’s really noteworthy enough to tell us about as an idea. It’s just a standard fanfix. If you wann do it then by all means go ahead.

Something that bugged me in Stranger Things is in S2 at the start we see a flashback to S1, but it’s painfully obvious Finn Wolfhard is older. I wonder if this could be fixed with a redub and maybe a deepfake.

Batman Begins followed by the Burton and Schumacher films, all edited to have the same style.

Batman Begins has the rigid neck and no repeat villains. You just have to remove the recast Gordon and Alfred and replace or eliminate the shots of a realistic Gotham as much as possible. The climax happens in the Narrows which already could pass for the other two universes (color aside) and much of the film takes place overseas so it’d be okay for it to look different.

Batman '89 would have the flashbacks to Batman’s origin replaced with those from Begins.

The Schumacher films would have the color and general zaniness toned way down.

Overall, this idea probably wouldn’t work, but it’d be an interesting experiment.
