Probably an audiophile or tech magazine of the era. Possibly Mechanix Illustrated or Popular Science. I may have seen it in an issue of Heavy Metal from around that time as well. It would have run in a wide gamut of publications aimed at an male demographic with money to spemd. Possibly Playboy as well?

cool find ! That ad says music , sound effects and narration . I wonder if that means it is for a reel to reel version of " The Story Of Star Wars " or it means the dialogue itself in addition to the music and sound effects . I also wonder if it is a condensed version , or the whole film if the latter is the case .

Nice find 😃

At https://goldenoldieads.wordpress.com/2012/01/29/star-wars-promo-1978-teac-tape-decks - in the comments section there is someone who claims to have created that very promotion for TEAC - and got to meet some of the Star Wars team.

The ad also appears on here - https://museumofmagneticsoundrecording.org/UniqueB.html - not much info, unfortunately (though still some cool and intriguing other content and gadgets).

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

The one I saw on eBay was taken out of a magazine, or at least looked like it was taken out of one, the pictures and colours looked sharper and there were staple marks on the side:

I just received word from the guy who previously owned this listing, and he said that this particular copy was sourced from a Playboy magazine.
