Ahsoka Trilogy: Rise of the Apprentice, The Padawan's Betrayal, A New Identity (WIP)

Whats up, everyone. First time poster here. As a big Clone Wars fan, I’ve tried convincing my friends and family (who are more casual Star Wars fans) to watch the show. The problem is that, even though they want to, some of them just don’t have the time or the commitment to watch it all. Its much easier to watch a few movies than it is to watch 6 seasons of a show. And of course, I and many other fans believe Ahsoka’s arc to be the one of the best parts of the show. So, recently I’ve been working on a project that consolidates key Ahsoka episodes into a movie trilogy as a way to break the barrier.

I’m almost done with the first film, Rise of the Apprentice. This one focuses on her earlier in her career and consists of
-The Battle of Christophosis from the theatrical release (her introduction)

-Rising Malevolence- I chose this one because it shows some character development and her relationship with Anakin and reveals some slight backstory with her mentioning that Plo Koon found her.

-Cloak of Darkness- I debated putting this one in, but it does show some character development. It also introduces Luminara into the mix, which provides for some nice consistency since she shows up later in the movie.

-Storm over Ryloth- This is the episode where Ahsoka gets half her squadron killed because she refused to follow orders. Great character building episode that also helps establish her relationship with Anakin.

-Geonosis Arc (Landing at Point Rain and Weapons Factory)- Provides for a climactic ending, introduces Barriss (important for the next movie), and ends on a strong note of Ahsoka being willing to give up her life to destroy the factory.

The film is around 2 hours and 18 minutes. It’s definitely more character-focused than the next two films, but I think its necessary. I haven’t done any editing to the episodes themselves (with the exception to the Battle of Christophosis since I had to remove any mention of Jabba’s son), just stitching them together so they flow from one to the next. Again, its more of a consolidation than an edit. I kept the opening narration in each episode as well, since it would be weird to jump into these episodes with zero context. Here are some examples: https://vimeo.com/392319487

The next one I’m working on, The Padawan’s Betrayal, will consist of
-The two episode arc where she gets captured by Trandoshians. I chose this one because 1.)It shows that she has grown substantially since the first film and can hold her own and make good decisions without Anakin there to guide her. 2.)Anakin’s determination to find her shows how attached he’s become, which further elaborates on their relationship and adds more emotional context for when she eventually leaves.

-The arc where she gets framed and leaves the order. This one doesn’t really need an explanation. I will say though I think it works really well for an “end of second movie cliffhanger” type deal.

This movie should end up being around the same length as the first one.

The last movie, A New Identity, will focus on the two arcs that season 7 will bring (Ahsoka on her own arc and the Siege of Mandalore). I’m assuming this one will end up being a little over 3 hours, unless the episodes end up being longer than usual.

Thanks for reading. Also, the titles aren’t necessarily final so any suggestions are appreciated.

EDIT:

I’m also planning on doing a clones trilogy and a Maul/Mandalore/Ventress duology as part of an overarching saga of sorts. The Ahsoka trilogy can still be watched on its own, but the stories of the clones, Maul, and Mandalore will supplement the finale and answer questions like “Who is Fives?”, “Why is Darth Maul alive?”, etc.

The saga will go like this:

  1. Defense of the Clones (it’s a cheesy title, I know)
    -Clone Cadets- Introduces Domino Squad
-The Hidden Enemy- Shows themes of brotherhood between the clones, shows possible reservations that clones may have about their loyalty to the Rebublic, and provides a good introduction to Rex and Cody.
-Rookies- Furthers the Domino Squad story
-The Deserter- Good character building episode for Rex, also discusses themes regarding the importance of loyalty
-ARC Troopers- Provides a climactic ending to the Domino squad arc and the movie as a whole. Also, they’re defending their home, Kamino. Defense of the Clones? Get it?
This one should be around 1 hour 45 minutes.

  2. Rise of the Apprentice

  3. Children of Dathomir: Part One
-Consists of the 3 Mandalore episodes in season two to establish the importance of Mandalore in the overall plot
-The Academy- I didn’t want to put this one in, but it explains why Almec is in prison
-The 3 Nightsister episodes from season 3
Should be around 2 and a half hours.

  4. Children of Dathomir: Part Two
-Consists of the 4 episodes from season 4 where Savage Oppress finds Maul and Ventress/Kenobi fight them.
-The 4 episodes where Maul takes over Mandalore. This one doesn’t need explaining.
This one should be around 3 hours

  5. The Padawan’s Betrayal

  6. The Broken Chains: Part One
-Starts off showing the scene where Echo dies. I decided against showing the entire Citadel arc since it isn’t really about the clones.
-Umbara arc- Yeah, it could be classified as “filler”, but it is absolutely one of the best story arcs in this show, and it provides a great look into clones questioning their loyalty and identity.
-The first two episodes of the brain chip arc- explains the significance of Fives and the brain chips in the show’s finale
Should be around 2 hours and 15 minutes.

  7. The Broken Chains: Part Two
-Starts off finishing the brain chips arc
-Bad Batch arc- I debated the necessity of this one, but decided to put it in because it’s nice having a farewell to Echo/Domino squad. It also has some Jesse moments to help tie into the show’s finale. And it has some nice consistency with the beginning of the brain chip arc with Admiral Trench.
Should be the same length as Part One.

  8. A New Identity
I’m considering adding the episode “Lightsaber Lost”, and having it chopped up as occasional flashbacks to play during the Martez sisters arc. It would be a cool juxtaposition to have where we go back and forth between Ahsoka’s first time on her own in the Coruscant underworld, and her more experienced time on her own during the present.

I love this idea! As a casual fan of the Clone Wars, it’ll be great to have this to watch when marathoning the movies.

This sounds fantastic. I agree with your episode choices for inclusion. I’ve been thinking about a similar idea for the rebels series. I want my brother to experience the Ahsoka and Vader fight properly, while combining that with the Twins Suns Episode as a sort of Epilogue to the Clone Wars series.

Hey everyone, I’ve finished the first two movies so PM me if you’re interested in seeing those. As for “A New Identity”, I plan on starting on that soon. Also, check out the edit I made in the original post for info about my clones trilogy and Maul duology.
