Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread — Page 34

True. That’s generally something I try to keep in mind when I think of ideas. Your idea might be really creative, but you have to ask yourself, “Would a first-time viewer pick up on the idea I’m trying to convey?”

For example, I like the idea of the Emperor being some kind of Sith-collective conscious, but what ways can you convey that idea in the film? You definitely could imply it, the implication is there in the theatrical, but could you make it overt and obvious to the audience?

It is easy for us to get very ambitious ideas when it comes to editing these movies, but a lot of times I’ve noticed the simplest changes tend to be the most effective. Find the path of least resistance, basically.

I am definitely in category of “Movie canon” and making sure the audience is understanding the ideas. I personally hate introducing outside material … especially from sources that have a lot of corn in it. (Like Rebels)

Unfortunately this may not be the movie we wanted, but gotta go with what is really feasible to achieve. Even if it is trying to shave off as much corn/fat/dum dum, etc.

I see where you’re coming from and it plays well with “the jedi of the past” thing, but looking at it from a lore and canon perspective, it doesn’t make much sense to have Jedi other than Luke, Qui Gon, Anakin, Obi-wan, Yoda and (possibly Leia) communicate from the netherworld of the force without having discovered that knowledge.

Why not? First of all, Anakin died without having learned that power, and yet he can still become a ghost. More importantly, it shouldn’t be a struggle for Rey to speak to the ghosts, no? And yet it’s something that takes practice and training. The way I interpreted it, the challenge of hearing the voices of the Jedi that came before is hearing not just the ghosts, but everyone.

Anakin kinda get’s a pass though since he is the Chosen One, in “the Rise and Fall of Darth Vader” novel, Obi Wan reached out to Anakin when his consciousness was between the physical realm and the netherworld and taught him “one final lesson

I think this explanation relies a little too much on “extra curricular” material.

I’d say most people presume Anakin ascended to becoming a force ghost due to his chosen one status so it probably doesn’t need much explanation from extra material…although it’s nice to have that sometimes.

The Anakin thing is the “created” elephant in the room. If you just watch the the first two trilogies … you kind of have to “assume” Anakin could cuz … you know, chosen one reasons. I still don’t like it though … it would have been better if Lucas just never got into that whole explanation/training/whatever. Just leave it be.

Oh well.

Lol, yeah, haha! The simplest thing though is to remove the whole training thing in Revenge of the Sith. Here’s the question: Is it needed?

If you remove that, it takes away the whole: "How did BLANK turn to a ghost without/presumedly without such training?

The audience can then assume this if watching the movies: Jedi turn(or can turn) to Force Ghosts/Voices and Sith kind of have a reincarnation/Transfer/Avatar style thingy. No need for further explanation since you see it for yourself.

I don’t know why Anakin being the chosen one would make him a force ghost. That doesn’t make sense to me.

I should add about my above comment about the Star Wars trilogy with PT edits in mind, such as Hal’s PT edits which are my go to. (I can’t remember when I watched the original edits of the PT.)

Now I need to rewatch that again and see about removing it. I know he added the line from Qui-Gon … I would not remove that and Yoda’s comment about training Obi Wan.

Anyway, I didn’t mean to derail the thread about PT stuff, but more of trying to connect this movie (and heck, the original trilogy due to the whole “Ghost Training” debate) to go about changes that can be easily made to help overall.

TROS is now officially available on HD and 4K digital, through at least Amazon and Google. (Don’t have iTunes to check.)

Go nuts, editors.

Maybe the reason the other Force ghosts haven’t chimed in throughout the saga when it would’ve been convenient is because Anakin and the other Force ghosts have been helping long dead Jedi regain consciousness within the netherworld of the Force.

Goodness something needs to be done about the overkill lightning affects on Exogol, they’re so disorienting that it makes it unwatchable.
Blue filter needs to go as well.

Bloody disappointing there are no deleted scenes for TROS (has anyone like JJ or Lucasfilm commented as to why there isn’t any featured with this release?) - though I hope there is some content in the ‘behind the scenes’ and other extras/bonus stuff that may be of some use for you guys.

I would love to see Dr. Dre, Nev, or someone else to make a nice LUT for this movie.

kk650 tends to put out versions that correct blanket tints like this, so that’s what I’m hoping for.

I went through and did some super quick color correction just to show how bad the green tint is throughout this entire film. Poe’s expression in the last still represents my exact feelings on this.
