Help: looking for... Shadows of the Empire OST Enhanced CD features?

I been looking into the Shadows of the Empire project overall, being really fascinated by its development and all things surrounding the multimedia project. One of the things I came over yesterday was reading about the enhanced cd features which apparently has some behind the scenes footage of the recording of the music?

Has the CD-Rom content ever been preserved anywhere? Is it possible to take a look at it? I am quite curious to see it and even got my old retro computer out in case I stumbled upon it, but no dice so far.

Hoping someone here could shed some more light on this.

Bumping this in hopes someone perhaps has the disc and can preserve the CD-ROM specific files.

Oh sorry, i missunderstood this.
A pdf from the cover and inlays is available, with some infos about it.

The complete disc is also on archive.org, but the content is locked.

Seems to work just fine:

The link is fine mate as there are only audio samples on there (along with general information about the release).

If the link featured downloads of the full disc (or complete tracks from it) then it would be a problem…

Plus, it seems, that soundtrack is available to buy.

I spent some time trying to get the data from the CD-ROM portion of my copy. I was able to copy the files. It’s on a format that predates the enhanced CD format, so the files are not natively visible to a modern PC.

Unfortunately, the multimedia player .exe is in an ancient format and I cannot get it to open either on my Windows 10 PC or on my Windows XP virtual machine.

Not sure exactly what you are trying to do.
But I have a Windows 98SE virtual machine (don’t ask me why), so I could try that exe if you want??

It’s an executable file with a shockwave multimedia dxr file. There’s also an audio folder with some mid 90’s quality AIF files.

Huh, I have the CD but never looked into it.

Ok, I was able to get it to work on a Windows 95 virtual machine. At first, I didn’t bother to install a sound driver, and the program wouldn’t run. It worked after installing a sound driver.

If anyone is interested in accessing the CD-ROM content of their disc, use the free version of isobuster to access the data track and extract the files.

What does the exe actually do? Is it a video of some sort? If it has any value it would be cool if someone could record a video of it or something.

Its like an interactive slide show basically, with a bunch of text and low res photos. Its not really all that interesting. There is no video content whatsoever. It’s got bios of the different people involved, concept drawings for SOTE, lists of star wars books, etc. It’s essentially what a website would have looked like in 1996. It is very of its time.

This reminds me that I’ve never gotten this disc or listened to the score. Is it a good listen?

I’ve read the book many times, suffered through the game’s difficulty and even had some of the toys but never the score.
Reading this thread immediately got the n64 menu theme music going on my head. WampaStompa!
