Oh my… Looks like I’m picking up the Emmy Honored Collection… Looks like the colors are less blown out, and man that single solitary Flashbeagle clip looks SO GOOD! (Sorry, I’m biased. Been a fan of Flashbeagle for years.)

Yeah, I downloaded some of these things from YouTube. Like you, I don’t have a powerful enough computer for anything HD.

A Facebook user got the 50th Anniversary Edition DVD of Charlie Brown’s All-Stars and they confirmed that A Charlie Brown Celebration is included as a bonus special!

It’s about time! I didn’t even know that was coming out! I have All Stars on the 60s(?) Collection and Celebration on my PAL set (which I converted to NTSC), but I’ll probably still pick this up! Awesome!

Even better for you, there is a bundle with A Charlie Brown Christmas, It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown and It’s Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown on iTunes, all in HD. Even if Flashbeagle wasn’t in the A Charlie Brown Christmas Blu-ray.

And I’ve loved every pixel of it.

Bumping because I am interested on how this will go on.

Does anyone have a working link to these?

There is a 4K Ultra HD collection of some Peanuts specials which include A Charlie Brown Christmas, It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown, It’s Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, Mayflower Voyages, Play It Again, Charlie Brown, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, It’s Magic, Charlie Brown, and Charlie Brown’s All-Stars.

All in 4K HDR.
The restoration looks really great, though it’s appearance in 4K Ultra HD was unexpected, and people were just baffled, I was really hyped for this one.
This time, all of the specials are in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, including A Charlie Brown Christmas and the other bonus specials included with the other discs.
I personally would’ve wanted an LPCM 1.0 or DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 track from the LaserDisc or VHS releases but it’s still okay.
The restorations are either in a pillarboxed 4:3 (1:33:1) fullscreen presentation or a pan-and-scan 16:9 (1:78:1) widescreen presentation.
I am a purist but the 16:9 version actually looks great as far as cropped widescreen presentations of classics go.
But still, 4:3 all the way.

Unfortunately, the included standard Blu-rays aren’t updated in any way whatsoever (just like in the 4K releases of Blade Runner: The Final Cut and The Dark Knight Trilogy) except for <i>A Charlie Brown Christmas</i> which has an updated Blu-ray with an MPEG-4 AVC encode and DTS-HD Master Audio tracks instead of it’s initial VC-1 video and Dolby Digital audio release.
The other Blu-ray discs are the 2009/2010 Blu-rays with VC-1 video and not-as-shiny video quality.

I am hoping that the 4K discs get cracked so we can use them for restoration purposes.

And I’ve loved every pixel of it.

Is this project still active? If it is, can anyone see if they can sync (most of) Vince Guaraldi’s full stereo score elements for A Charlie Brown Christmas to the footage from the special? It would make for quite an interesting audio track option…

Myself, I’m hoping to do a full-length restoration of A Charlie Brown Christmas based on the Blu-ray and a 16mm print I downloaded from MEGA as part of this project.

The Internet Animation Database forum has a thread about the original poster obtaining a 1965 workprint and listing all the differences between it and the much more common re-edit. Here are some of the differences…

  • The Coca-Cola references are left intact
  • When Snoopy decorates his doghouse and Charlie Brown reads the paper about the lights and display contest, an instrumental version of “Christmas Time is Here” plays instead of “Surfin’ Snoopy” and Charlie Brown’s voice is softer
  • Various sound effects are missing or different
  • There is no close-up of Lucy’s hand when she gives “five good reasons”
…and here’s the thread I’m referring to. Was the print you downloaded the same as or similar to the one the thread was about?

Additionally, are you going to sync some of Vince Guaraldi’s full stereo soundtrack elements, most (if not all) of which are available on CD and vinyl, to the video of your restoration project?

Yes, it was the same, and yes, I plan to sync whatever I can find.

I was wondering if you, the leader of this project, plan to torrent this collection. I’m very interested in acquiring this collection!

Is there the possibilities to have this special again available online? the DropBox link seems to not work. I’m searching it in order to collect all peanuts series.

Thanks.

There are also some specials released on iTunes in HD and some HDTV airings in torrent sites, I’m not sure about the quality of them, though.

The HDTV 1080p version of “Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown” is 4:3 open matte, unlike the Amazon Prime version which is cropped to 16:9. The HDTV however does have a logo in the bottom-right corner at certain points.

“The Snoopy 4-Movie Collection” Blu-ray is being released May 18th, 2021.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Snoopy-4-Movie-Collection-Blu-ray/287136/

The set includes “A Boy Named Charlie Brown” (1969), “Snoopy, Come Home” (1972), “Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown” (1977) and “Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don’t Come Back!!)” (1980), with the latter two making their debut on the format.

Quite annoying that I picked up the “ABNCB”/“SCH” double BD only last year and then this gets announced, lol.

I’m really late to this party. This is down, is this posted somewhere else? I’m trying to build my collection and seem to be 5 years late!

Not sure why someone put “released”, in the title, as I never finished this project. I will get to it eventually.

That was me - my apologies.

When sorting through the project threads in last year’s 'reorganisation’ / rejig if I saw that there were mention of a project being available - such as this below…

Kinda. Sorry I didn’t see your reply until now. So all 4 movies are available now, as well as two more specials on the Emmy Nominated collection. I haven’t done anything on this in a while, but when I get on my PC, I can tell you what I have so far.

Links don’t seem to work.

Sorry about that. They should now.

…I put it in the ‘Released’ category - so that anyone interested in the project can read through the thread to see which parts have been released and made available - and which are not (yet).

Apologies again, maxioxb.
