Some movie “guru” guy from Collider Video. Personally found him annoying. Pretty much all the Collider Video people seem likely Disney apologists. It’s not exactly a personal ding against them, as who wouldn’t talk exceedingly positive about pretty much anything Disney does and get paid for it. Just means it’s not a group of people I’d like to have dialogue with or listen to their take on anything Star Wars related.

Not to get off topic, but I recently stopped following Collider’s content after Kristian Harloff left. Didn’t like the changes that were happening over there.

Huh that’s interesting. Had no idea. Probably haven’t seen their content since prior of the release of TLJ.

John Campea stood correct on that The Mandalorian would be the most pirated show of all time. Just think about how fans in other countries outside the U.S. feel about this considering that Disney+ is exclusive in America.

Don’t know who that is, but I think pretty much anyone could have predicted that.

This is John Campea. A very active film pundit in the movie community online.

Oh, he’s a YouTube guy. I see.

Yeah, my post wasn’t trying to say that all forms of Disney+ piracy is an issue - it’s the WEB-DL style (getting the digital files themselves and stripping the DRM) that’s prohibitively difficult. WEBRIP style (recording the video stream from a device through a capture card over an HDMI connection) is easy, but it will result in at least some degradation in quality.

According to this it sounds pretty difficult.

Ripping the original file is the challenge. Once a file is out there, it’s out there.

Yeah but TavorX’s original post was about the downloading the original 4K files to your PC. Webrips are the general bread and butter of your average pirate.

I tried testing something by curiosity earlier.

I tried using a program to record content from Disney+ on my computer screen to test and see what the results were. The result was a plain black screen with no sound. Tried doing the same with Netflix content to see if this was only with Disney+. The same thing happened with Netflix. Smart that they thought ahead on this.

Hence the extra steps involved, as described above.

I gotta say, I am bummed that they didn’t put the Clone Wars episodes in the correct chronological order on Disney+.

Hmmmm… Living in Canada I’m getting “Maclunkey” on the D+ site on my PC, but get this guy when I stream from my Roku and FireTV stick. I would’ve assumed their new 4K master would be the basis for all streaming versions; guess not.

Each Streaming service would have to update their master file. Reportedly YouTube already has changed it so the others are likely too at some point in the future.

That Greedo dummy pic is from Disney+ on my FireTv stick. It was “maclunkey” when it launched on the 12th, and this guy the other night. Last night it was back to “maclunkey”…seems Disney+ have multiple versions for different markets, and they’re getting mixed up at times.

anyone seen if Empire of Dreams documentary is actually in full HD?
or if shots from the film with the original VFX are higher resolution than the gout?
there’s a note at the beginning of playback that ‘it’s been modified from its original version and formatted to the screen’
so i’m wondering if they swapped out the movie footage used in the doc with the new transfer, or the 2004 one, or not

I believe I heard that all the OT footage has been replaced with HD SE footage, but I haven’t watched it myself to confirm. And I don’t remember who said that/where I read it.

I checked quickly and it looked like HD footage from the blu-ray to me. I didn’t take a close look but the shots that I saw of original footage looked pretty shitty to me, definitely not HD.

That unaltered shot of the Falcon and the last remaining fighters flying away from the Death Star right before it blows up and the unaltered Death Star explosion are still there. I don’t remember if the SE shots earlier in the doc are replacing unaltered shots or if those were already SE.

Here’s a video of someone demonstrating Disney+:
I already have Disney+ !!! First impressions of the trial in The Netherlands!

I’d appreciate if someone can clarify a couple of things for me if possible, thanks -

  1. At the start of the OT and the Prequels, is the LUCASFILM logo with the revised music cue as seen at the 2 min. 7 second mark in the early DISNEY+ demo above, now replaced with the 20th Century Fox logo and fanfare, then followed by the current silent, silver LUCASFILM logo?

  2. Also, does anyone know if the LUCASFILM logo with the revised music cue as seen/heard here, is featured on any dvd (or blu-ray) DISC release of any of these movies at all? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkzfZ3EcHqw

Okay so, since the original six film saga are all never before seen masters they have the 20th century’s fox fanfare with the new silver Lucasfilm logo

Also, the digital truncated Lucasfilm fanfare was never released in a physical form.

Interestingly, the digital versions are slowly being replaced with the brand new masters so the truncated digital fanfare is being wiped from history.

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Thanks for confirming that for me dgraham414.

Interesting that the initial Netherlands trial of DISNEY+ showed the digital fanfare versions, rather than the new ones to begin with.

Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge’ - new kids game show coming to Disney+

https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-jedi-temple-challenge

'Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, an exciting new Disney+ game show set in a galaxy far, far away, will test young contestants’ abilities in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight! From lightsabers to hyperspace, the Force, and the dark side, Jedi Temple Challenge transports viewers and contestants into the Star Wars galaxy like never before.

The show is hosted by Ahmed Best, who will play a Jedi Master and mentor to the contestants. Known to many fans as Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars prequels, Best’s unique set of skills as an actor, dancer, martial arts expert, STOMP musician, and Star Wars fan make him the perfect choice as the show’s host and mentor. Best is joined by a hilarious humanoid droid companion, voiced by Mary Holland.

“This is definitely a kids game show like no other,” says Lucasfilm’s senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capoferri. “The various challenges will test a Padawan’s connection to the Force in three locations — a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser, and inside a Jedi temple — immersing them and the audience in a fun, humorous, and exciting competition.”

“Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge brings together the best of Star Wars — competitive spirit, harrowing obstacles and a hero’s triumph over challenges — in a totally new format for the franchise,” said Dan Silver, vice president, Originals — Unscripted Content, Disney+. “A game show set in the Star Wars galaxy is a perfect fit for Disney+.”

Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge is developed by Lucasfilm’s Scott Bromley and Steve Blank with Mickey Capoferri and Christine Beebe serving as executive producers. The series is produced by Lucasfilm and Endeavor Content’s non-scripted group with executive producers Dean Houser, David Chamberlin, and Mike Antinoro."

Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge will stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2020.

Not sure I’ll watch this but it’s cool they’re bringing Ahmed Best back into Star Wars in a real way!

I’ll be honest, I read nothing after I saw the logo, but if this is Legends of the Hidden Temple with a Star Wars skin applied to it, I’m in.

Though that would probably be more appropriate for Indiana Jones…
