The last sentence - and word - spoken in the trailer… very nicely done.

I’m guessing maybe Threepio is being reprogrammed (in a reverse of K-2SO in Rogue One) with the possible risk his old personality might not be restorable, hence the goodbye?

^ I believe so mate - that or Microsoft is forcing another dodgy Windows Update / new operating system on him…

A nice touch…

I still find Palpatine’s survival deeply thematically unpalatable. (Unpalpable?)

I hope I’m wrong, but I think the pitch will be that when he exploded with blue energy in ROTJ, that was actually just time travel exhaust as he flung himself into the future.

Hmm, as I type… sounds sort of like Samurai Jack.

I just hope the whole thing feels thematically appropriate, but my cynical tendencies see this as unnecessary. I always thought Dark Empire looked stupid compared to the novels, since it just undoes and redoes ROTJ, but then again there’s been plenty of exactly that in the ST so far. I would think it’d be more congruent to figuratively re-defeat Palpatine rather than literally. My concerns aren’t how it makes sense logically, but thematically. But, we’ll see what happens.

My stance on revising fan edits.

He could just be a ghost.

It would be nice if we could have both thematic congruity and narrative congruity. I wouldn’t mind if they defeated his force ghost or his spirit or whatever, but if he’s back in the flesh I am going to roll my eyes so hard.

The Emperor was more of a symbol of evil anyway in ROTJ rather than a real character. He was basically the Satan to Luke’s Jesus if we’re going with the biblical analogy, tempting Luke to go down the dark and easy path. I really hope it’s something more in that vein.

Haha, after seeing two trailers I still have no idea what’s going on. I’ll see the movie opening weekend for sure, but The Mandalorian has stolen all my attention and hype. TROS seems like a Happy Meal in comparison.

Palpatine might not even be actually visible, just an empty hooded cloak moving around.

Is that the Ghost to the right of the frame? It’s that or just a normal VCX100

Yes.

And Han’s freighter from TFA, a U-Wing, the Shadow Caster, Nebulon Frigates, a Hammerhead Corvette, more.

Yes. It’s the Vader mask from The Force Awakens perched on something.

No, he is very visible.

And Ian’s name is on the poster.

Not yet! But if Threepio goes to meet his maker, I hope it’s a a hero. It would be awesome if he’s the lynchpin of the whole plot.

I guess somebody has seen Adywan’s placement of a dead battle droid in the Jawa Sandcrawler. 😉

Would it be funny or sad if Threepio randomly blurted out Die Jedi Scum!?

Ady was the first thing I thought of after seeing it.

It does appear that fan service is going to be big part of this film.

Look.

It’s Rey with the “MacGuffin”.

No, I mean the cheesy plot device, ummm… no, I mean the dagger.

It’s fun seeing some of those white hallways and appreciate the production design expanding on the style of the OT with less limitations. Not in love with everything but it was a damn fine trailer and the right move showing as much as they did, for those genuinely on the fence with the ST or cautiously optimistic of IX I believe this worked as show of good faith.

I think the trailer may have had things in it that haven’t even been leaked yet. A lot of it seems to flow right along with the leaks, but some seems to hint and things that haven’t been leaked. I’m sure Mike Zeroh will find a way to weave it all together. That will be fun to see. I’m sure he thinks he is being serious, but a lot of his videos are funny.

That set seems like a blend of Imperial and Rebel aesthetics. Could it be something that only exists in a shared vision?

According to the leaks that should be the inside of Kylo’s Star Destroyer, but it’s true that the white color gives it a Rebel vibe.
