Works for me, it’ll probably lead right up to the release of TROS.

If they put up the first two or three episodes all at once, like The Handmaid’s Tale has been doing each season, they would probably get through the whole season in time for TRoS’ release in theaters if the streaming service launched at the very beginning of November.

It’s going to be on Disney’s streaming service. Wouldn’t surprise me if they did show it on ABC as a cross promotional stunt.

I hope so. I’m not subscribing to Disney+ for one TV show.

I think I actually prefer that method of release. It gives you something to look forward to each week instead of binge watching the whole season in one or two sittings and then be left waiting a whole year (or two for GoT) for the next one.

Same here. I just binged all of Stranger Things in three days and now I’ve got nothing until Mandalorian. I dont have the self control of waiting a week when all I have to do is hit “Next Episode > Skip Intro”. 😉

Exactly and because of that I watched all of Stranger Things season 3 in one go except the last 3/4 of the last episode, turning in at 4am to still get a few hours of sleep and not realising it was the last episode LOL!

I hope we received a full trailer for The Mandalorian at D23 convention this week. It is the Star Wars series I most looking forward to viewing.

I like the idea of releasing episodes one at a time. It makes it more of an event and more conversation about each episode every week since everyone will be on the same episode around the same time. They want each episode to be highly anticipated like Game of Thrones and Walking Dead.

You skip the Stranger Things intro? I don’t think we can be friends anymore.

We will be seeing a trailer for The Mandalorian at D23:-

‘Jon Favreau Unveils Star Wars Series ‘The Mandalorian,’ Marvel Plans and a New Venture’

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jon-favreau-unveils-star-wars-series-mandalorian-marvel-plans-a-new-venture-1233239

The article says ‘Star Wars TV series set to debut Nov. 12 on the new Disney+ streaming service (and to be teased with a trailer at the D23 conference Aug. 23)’

Tighten Up and then turn it all the way up to 11!

I stumbled across this article about in-camera VFX and it explains the process and outcome a bit more. Sounds cool! It sounds like this is what has been happening on the set of the new show. I hope we’ll see BTS footage at some point soon!

Wow, that little two minute video was all I needed to see to finally understand what this technology is. Mind blowing! But also the obvious natural progression given all the tech developed to this point.

Is anyone else curious as to how each episode of The Mandalorian will start?

George Lucas famously paid a fine and resigned from the Directors Guild of America rather than accept convention and place the cast/crew names at Star Wars’ opening.

When it comes to The Mandalorian are you anticipating an opening credits sequence for each ep?

Opening credits are a thing of the past on most TV shows nowadays. On US network broadcasting it cuts into the ever-expanding commercial time. The main reason Game of Thrones had one is it was the best place to stash the on-screen version of the books’ endpaper maps.

Even online-based shows like Star Trek Discovery just have a ten-second title card. I wouldn’t expect much more than that in The Mandalorian.

Actually a lot of shows still have title sequences these days. Certainly not the norm, but Game of Thrones is far from being the only one.

That said, it’s an interesting question what they’ll do regardless. Even if they only do a brief title card, will they have lower third credits that play throughout the opening few minutes (which is usually what happens in that case)? Or will they try to stick more to the Star Wars style and leave all the credits for the end? My guess would be the latter. But this being the first Star Wars live action show, it’s somewhat uncharted waters. We’ve only seen two examples of live action spin-offs before, both films. Makes me wonder about stylistic quirks - will there be wipes? will there be location titles? will each episode will begin with the GFFA card like the movies (or not, like the animated shows)?

The Ewok movies had traditional opening credits.

Discovery have full classic opening credits! I don’t know where it’s been broadcast with just a ten-second title card, but on Netflix in Europe it’s more like 2 minute long credits, with a cool retro looking animation. (see for yourself)

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!
