At least they’re not the awful “Faces” covers this time.
Ironically that was my first trilogy set.

For my ally is the Force and a powerful ally, it is.

At least Spaceballs spoofed the faces covers too.
Where were you in '77?
I can see your Face is as big as mine! 😎
Funny. If they really wanted to spoof the Faces covers they could have used a Spaceball trooper instead of Barf.
John Candy was probably guaranteed a spot on every poster by contract.
I was disappointed that they didn’t keep the merchandising gag going on DVD and Blu-Ray covers.
Where were you in '77?
They kinda did here.
Yeah, they almost nailed it. It’s one of my favorite running gags, and it should have been a no brainer to keep it going.
So somebody better make sure the next release is Spaceballs: The 4k! 😉

John Williams is still working on Star Wars. Someone get Drew Struzan to make new cover art for the boxed set.
Drew Struzan is permanently retired, don’t even bother asking, he’ll say no.
I would love to see him do the prequels and sequels much like his star wars trilogy special editions, as well as RO and SOLO. That will never happen.
In the Art of Drew Struzan he talks about the realization that this type of work is basically dead, when he was asked to work on Hellboy because Del Toro wanted him… but the studio didn’t want something that “looked like a movie they’d seen before”. Creative types want it but bean counters don’t.
So not only is Spaceballs on Blu-ray while the OOT isn’t… but now it has better artwork than SW too.

It’s not like they had any new art lying around…oh…
The 4k UHD artwork for TLJ and Solo pretty much matched their respective poster art IIRC, so unless Disney reissues those with different artwork to match whatever they do with the covers of the other films (as they have for next month’s bd releases) then it would make sense to go with the theatrical poster art for I-VI and TFA and RO when they eventually hit 4k.
I also think there’s a chance they might just commission new artwork yet again for those other eight movies so that they’ll better match the 4k artwork for TLJ and Solo and whatever they end up doing for TRoS.

they really gotta use this for the steelbooks.

Oh wow, Pierce Brosnan as Thrawn?
I’d like it if the box art resembled the Jedi texts from TLJ.
Does the recent D+ teaser contain the altered or unaltered versions?
There was a single shot of ESB. Someone more eagle-eye will have to say that it’s the same Blu-ray version again.
The D23 timeline uses the theatrical logos, if that means anything:
Seeking only the most natural looking colors for Star Wars '77
A new timeline… 😉
(though still no Holiday Special, two Ewok films, ‘The Clone Wars’ film, or the animated ‘Droids’, ‘Ewoks’ & ‘Clone Wars’ series in these… 😉)
A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Looks like the blu-ray to me:
in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity in perpetuity
There’s also this shot from this video on the Star Wars Instagram.

I can tell from the compositing of the speeders it’s from the SE.
And, presumably, from seeing quite a few shops in your time.

With “A New Hope” being tacked on the classic logo, no.
I personally think Kyle Lambert would be an excellent choice to commission new artwork for a box set. His artwork is very reminiscent in style to Struzan, and his work is kinda hot right now with Stranger Things being really big at the moment.
I loved the Jurassic Park poster he did, as well as the Super 8 poster and the cover art for the Jumanji 4k Blu-ray.
