Well, some of it is, apparently…

Ummm well the fight was the only major undertaking and main selling-point of this edit. Everything else he’s offering can already be found in other existing edits to be honest (except for the Luke actor’s voiceovers)… anyway, so without the new fight scene, there really is no appeal… only hype. I think a lot of people just aren’t aware there are already good TLJ fixes out there already

Can somebody tell me why we haven’t banned this Ivan guy from the site? Wtf guys.

I believe he technically broke any rules here with his only two posts. Even if one could assume that insulting the forum in a live youtube video could be seen as breaking a few ones…

He posted twice and then fucked off when we didn’t worship the ground he walked on, so that seems pointless. And yeah, I don’t think either of his posts actually violated any site rules.

Our thinking at the time was an outright ban would only add to his narrative as he made the forum look like the bad guy without ever dropping the name. Who would ever have thought we would get some of that anti-TLJ Disney and Lucasfilm love? The angry villagers with pitchforks and torches in that chat stream was disturbing to see to say the least. That a banned member was fanning the flames in the chat didn’t help either.

Ivan hasn’t been logged in here for over a year, but if it makes everybody sleep better at night…

sooo… this has been released. and the result of all that hype is anti-climactic to say the least. I actually wanted to like it… and the hype made me expect CLEAN TOP QUALITY work. The Luke voice-overs are very cringey…with some kind of reverb effect… audio levels all over the place throughtout the film, muddy cross-fades, video game footage…geez. And then there the addition of the 3rd lesson Caretakers Village scene… he used a low quality source and the frames jump all over the place like video streaming online in 1999…definitely a quality drop from the rest of the movie. No serious editor would use such a bad quality clip. And to be honest, all the other edits he made have basically been done before at this point… and done better. I’m trying to be as constructive as possible and not insult, but this is really amateur work. The best thing to come out of this was ImmersionVFX’s work on the green saber.

That’s all pretty much the impression I was getting from the earlier clips he posted.

Is it being called the final version or a work in progress?

He says he is going to re-release once he’s done with the fight scene, which honestly was the most appealing part of this project to me personally. I actually think he should’ve scrapped the full-movie re-edit and focused on remaking the fight scene (similar to Sc.38 Reimagined) because the edit is actually really rough, to put it mildly.

Very sloppy overall.

Here is his plan for reworking the fight… a static wide shot with him and another dude composited in. It actually sounded possible before but upon seeing the work he released, I’ve lost hope for this fight scene.

Yes I just watched most of this edit and I have to say: it was terrible. Very disappointing.

Just from looking at the comments on Youtube, I can tell that almost every one of them thinks that Topher Grace is the only one to ever edit the prequel trilogy.

These people are absolutely clueless to there being any sort of fan-editing community. Probably for the best though. Too much attention would only bring a shut down from Disney.

I got the same vibe reading the comments… it’s the ONLY explanation for them thinking this guy’s edit is like the second coming. really crazy…they feel like he’s doing God’s work… like people thanking him for all he has done… lol nuts.

Almost every edit he did, I’ve seen done way better here. The only thing I think his edit has going for it, is the Ackbar scene. But even then it is pretty sloppy.

Who could have guessed that the guy who made countless videos on why Brie Larson, Disney, and Kathy Kennedy are the devil made a bad edit.

Almost every comment is like this lol. It’s truly baffling.

I mean I would agree that those three things are terrible lol. But maybe he should have spend more time actually WORKING on the thing that is bringing him his “fame”. Almost everything in the edit is stuff we already saw him make videos on over the last year. I’m curious as to what he’s even been working on this whole time leading up to release.

He obviously just wanted to drag it on, so that he could rack up more Youtube revenue and Patreon donations.

Ackbar looks terrible… and I feel like the voice actors they had for the trailer were better than in the final “re-edit”.

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

I think Ivan missed the ball on his re-edit. This will definitely not be my “Go To” edit and these are the reasons why.

  • Let’s start with Akbar. Everyone was excited when Ackbar was back. However, after hearing the voice actor and dialogue it’s terrible. Ivan really should have had someone proof read the dialogue. In Ackbars speech after Leia gets sucked out to space he should say “a spy among us” not “between us” and Ackbar refers to Leia as Princess Leia which should be General Organa or Leia Organa. It just comes across as amateurish and sloppy.

  • The addition of Battlefront 2 gameplay looks awful and takes you out of the immersion of the movie. This needs to be removed.

  • In the the training montage there is scene of Luke and Rey training in the rain and it’s in slow motion and just looks off from the rest of the film and it’s quite jarring. This scene needs to be removed.

  • The third lesson deleted scene in the village is stuttering and dropping frame making it hard to watch. How is this deleted scene such poor quality with other edits on this site incorporating this scene flawlessly.

  • The Canto Bight scene is better that it is has been reduced in length. But why are the Faithers being shown as they dont add anything to the story. Remove the scene where Finn and Rose go out to the balcony and watch the Faithers it’s not necessary.

  • The footage of Kylo Ren in Luke’s flashback scene on the Millennium Falcon looks off because its low quality footage and the rest of the movie is in HD. This scene needs to be removed. And when did Kylo get a chance to ever enter the Millennium Falcon. The scene makes no sense.

  • Rose is a annoying character. But Ivan shouldn’t just kill her off in the movie as she is going to be in Episode 9. There needs to be consistency otherwise it won’t flow once Episode 9 is released. Same with keeping Luke alive at the end of movie. If he is a force ghost in Episode 9 there will be a consistency issue.

After over a years worth of work this is a very disappointing outcome from Ivan. He has just added too much extra content and it comes across as a clunky re-edit. Less is more in most edits. Also, his own personal dislike for the film and character were edited poorly IMHO eg killing off Rose and keeping Luke alive.

Good thing is that by following Ivan you’ve found this forum where you can find really well made TLJ edits. Given your post history, I know you did. Keep enjoying good edits then 😉

Kylo entered the Falcon in a deleted scene from TFA.
