Whatever happens to Rian Johnson’s trilogy, would everyone here like the idea of him directing the trilogy that Benioff and Weiss are producing and working on?

After their work in the last 3-4 seasons of GOT, I don’t want them anywhere near Star Wars. Scrap their series and let Rian do his thing on his own.

Some predictions:

We will be seeing tons of articles/YouTube videos talking about how much Rian, Benioff & Weiss’ trilogies will be cinematic failures before they even come out (I personally am a bit skeptical of D&D myself).

Most fans on both sides of the spectrum are going to LOVE The Mandalorian. I think it’ll be so successful Fanvreau and Filoni will be given more future projects. Fans will love these two.

Sorta unrelated, but the new Avatar movies (at the very least Avatar 2) are going to perform exceptionally well at the box office despite some skepticism. General audiences will fall in love with Pandora again like they did in 2009.

Yep. People are going to love it and will be saying it is the best thing “Disney” has done.

I guess the skeptics haven’t seen the long lines the Pandora land Disney in Florida gets.

Really? The Mandalorian looks so uninteresting.

We really don’t have much to base anything on at this point aside from a Boba Fett style character in a Star Wars setting, and some leaked (and likely unfinished) celebration footage which at least shows a decent atmosphere of the show… I guess. I wasn’t horribly impressed by it to be honest, but I’m more concerned that the characters and story be well written and compelling. At least in those regards, I think I trust Favreau and Filoni to deliver something worthwhile.

I hope he does one or two more films that gross well over a billion, then goes on to do whatever the hell he wants to do - which will hopefully be something original. Ideally with a few smaller films between. Otherwise it’s a huge waste.

Plus, he’s an exceptional writer/director and he should continue to direct his own scripts exclusively (which he seems to be quite intent on doing).

It is the Kenobi series that will be revealed in August at D23.

The Mandalorian season 1 2019
Cassian Andor 2020
Kenobi 2020

All coming to Disney+

As much as I love Star Wars, this basically confirms that they butchered the ending of one of my favorite TV series because they got bored and wanted to speed it along so they could go play Star Wars instead.

Which means even if their SW movies are good (which I doubt given how shitty their post-Season 4 GOT writing has been), I’m going to have massive hangups about giving them a fair shake because I can’t forgive them for GOT. That just sucks.

Is this how people who hated TLJ feel about Rian’s trilogy?

It’s because of how cool the ride is. I went and really enjoyed it but it wasn’t really because it’s Pandora. None of the people I went with seemed to care about that, just that the ride is pretty cool.

So, it’s like people who ride Splash Mountain, but don’t know it’s based on a movie? 😉

I didn’t know either.

Yikes! Disney has done a better job of burying the film than I thought!

It’s one of those old racist disney movies. Haven’t seen it either but people get the story of Splash just fine as is. Likely the same for Avatar, although most people know it is from a movie.

Let’s not go there?

And it’s really sad people can’t watch the movie and decide for themselves.

Is it sad though? I think it best that racist propaganda like that should be suppressed and banned.

Which only proves you’ve never seen it. And discussion over.
