Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD * — Page 71

I like the fact the best ideas from this trailer are from Lucas 😄

It kinda mixes his 2010’s Episode 7 ideas with his (and Kurtz) 1980’s Episode 9 ideas.

I’m sold on the Emperor. Could be the only way to redeem lame Snoke to make him a puppet of a Palpatine Force Ghost.

Lando looks like Solo in episode 7, i.e. lame 😕

So we’re actually going back to a planet from I-VI? Wow, we were so close to making it through the ST without doing that.

Would be nice to see Tatooine and Coruscant since it’s supposed to end the story there.

The title is bad and Lando wearing his Solo outfit is weird. Other than that… eh.

It’s gonna be a JJ Abrams movie. I don’t like his movies. Episode 7 is the worst of the Saga. But it’s still SW, I just hope I’ll like it.

Guess who’s back!

Since they’re apparently going to visit the wreck of the DS2, I’m guessing Palpatine might appear as either a Force Ghost, or more likely, as some kind of Force Vision. Might be similar to the Thrawn trilogy where the death of the Emperor left behind an imprint in the Force.

Or Lucasfilm could just be messing with us in the trailer. Wouldn’t technically be the first time.

Both Death Stars blew up. There was concept art for The Force Awakens of the second Death Star underwater, but they scrapped it. It seems like they could potentially be returning to those ideas, but it also seems a bit odd because the Death Star blew up in space.

Well, it blew up orbiting Endor. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility that fragments fell to the moon’s surface. Which would also suggest that the forest setting that was shown in a couple of the promo photos might indeed be the forests of Endor.

Ewoks confirmed!

“In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.” - George Lucas

There is no way that the planet the station is on is Endor. It looks like a different planet.

That was a great moment. Who knows if she’s holding Luke or Han’s medal.

Possible, but the Death Star remains being anywhere else would make no sense at all. Then again J.J. Abrams has demonstrated time and again that he doesn’t know (or maybe just doesn’t care) how outer space works.

The first bit of the teaser (Desert) reminds me of this scene from Red vs. Blue https://youtu.be/Wy2PmWWJJQc?t=162

I for one enjoyed it. Regular people are talking about SW again… in a positive lights Made me nostalgic for the days before TFA, when everyone liked the new movies.

I think everybody likes the Emperor, just for that the trailer is getting a warm welcome. 'cause… well it’s the Emperor, the guy was such a show in Episode III and VI.

I trust Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, Rian Johnson and the others at Lucasfilm in what they’re doing. Whatever happens with the Death Star’s destruction and Palpatine’s return, I’ll describe what I think when I see the movie. I won’t judge based on the trailer alone.

Speculation…

Shmi “There was no father. I carried him, I gave birth, I raised him. I can’t explain what happened.”

Palpatine using abilities “some consider to be unnatural” conjured this child of the force within Shmi (a random slave of no importance). Palpatine is secretly Anakin Skywalker’s father (and acts like it throughout the PT).

Palpatine - having survived his fall down the Death Star chasm (much like Luke survived the Cloud City chasm - it rhymes!) used those same abilities to create Rey, again within a random junker of no importance. Palpatine is Rey father, she’s of the same line.

Seems at least possible?

Okay, I’m not judging. Just saying that Endor makes the most logical sense. You’re the one who insisted that “there is no way” that planet is Endor.

Endor is a forest moon. This looks like a different planet. It has a large ocean and a field. Also, is Jedha in this film? They shot it in Jordan.

Digging this shot of Ms Tran. I’m really hoping she has a more substantial, adult role in this. She looks great here and appears to have a more important role in-universe.
