Anyone from here going?

Anything specific anyone here is looking forward to watching on streams / youtube?

There’s been some talk on other SW sites that blue is playing a prominent colour in some of the promotional content of late - and may be connected to the colour featuring in IX (much the way red featured in TLJ). I guess we’ll find that out, and more, on that Friday panel…

Should be interesting to see Billy Dee Williams there too - and if he gives anything away about IX.

Have they announced all the guests yet?

I had to squint to make out Chewie taking direction, from J.J. I presume?

A fair few guests have been announced - https://www.starwarscelebration.com/Guests (though not sure how up to date that is).

I hadn’t realised the delectable Katee Sackhoff had been in Rebels & Clone Wars!

I had read somewhere - and can’t remember where - that Oscar Isaac may be appearing too.

Aye, I think that’s Chewie - who’s about to pull the arms off JJ 😉

With the 20th anniversary of TPM, I’d think they’d try to get more actors from the movie. Especially Ric Olie himself, Ralph Brown. It’s now or never! 😉

If Richard E Grant will be there… then maybe Ralph Brown will be too (though they could be doing the Withnail Con that weekend instead 😉)

I don’t think I’d realized that either re: Katee Sackhoff. Between Star Wars, BSG, and Riddick, she’s appeared in three of my favorite franchises/series.

Dune started filming this week in Budapest and Oscar Isaac was on one of the late night shows the other night sporting what I can only assume is his best Duke Leto beard. Unless he’s somehow shooting all his scenes within the next three weeks or they’ve scheduled him to start in the middle of April, he’ll need to fit a very long roundtrip plane ride to Chicago into his calendar if he wants to be at celebration.

^ I need more coffee - for some reason I read that Katee Sackhoff was going to be in Dune for a moment there (which’d be great!)

Oscar Isaac - the man can certainly pull off a good beard. I hadn’t realised he was going be in Dune - nice one.

The SW Celebration twitter thing will likely be a good a way of if someone is going to be there or not (bar any last minute cancellations etc) - https://twitter.com/SW_Celebration - or the https://twitter.com/starwars

It’s pretty certain that they will be releasing the first trailer along with IX’s title in the event, which will be interesting to see and I’ll definately watch those.

With Rian Johnson and Benioff/Weiss’ respective projects in development and at least one of them supposedly in pre-production, I wonder if there will be anything official announced.

My first Celebration was the previous one in Orlando in 2017.

I won’t be able to go this year. I am quite busy at the moment. However, even if I could go this year, I wouldn’t take this opportunity based upon the state of the fanbase. Because of how toxic the fanbase is right now, I’m afraid that there will be bullies there or worse, fights may break out. Now there’s. very good chance that these scenarios don’t happen, and most hateful fans won’t even attend Celebration, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the audience boos some cast and crew members as they walk on stage. I know that during Battlefront II’s canal in Orlando the crowd booed when EA announced that micro-transactions would be present within the game.

Between travel, hotel, and the price of admission, that’s an awful lot of money to blow if you’re going just to pick a fight or make trouble. The convention would be well within it’s rights to ban people from the event, possibly forever. Con security ought to be on the level of a comic con sized event?
I would think most of the fans who say stupid crap online don’t have the spherical objects to actually say it to someone’s face.

None of this will happen. Those kind won’t bother going to Celebration in the first place. There’s a big difference between the anonymity provided by the internet and facing others in real life.

I agree with you, but I also understand just how polarizing the fans at Celebration will be because of the negative effects that The Last Jedi made on the fanbase, even though I love Episode VIII and would go as far to say it is the second of third most important installment in the franchise, based on what it did technically and within the narrative.

The con should make it very clear, (if it doesn’t already) that such behavior will not be tolerated in any way, and that violators will be treated to a very special screening of the Holiday Special. 😛

That’s because including micro-transactions in a game that the consumer has already paid for is exploitative and generally objectionable. I think booing proved to be the correct response in that situation.

I totally agree with you. I’m just bringing the story up just to illustrate that the crowd could react that at one of the panels this year. Part of me wouldn’t be surprised if the audience acted like this at Episode IX’s panel.

Should be a big week even for non-convention people. IX title and trailer for sure, probably a home video announcement for TFA and RO at least if not the original trilogy as well. Excited for IX news and nervous to see what the future holds for Star Wars on home video.

Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t see home video as the sort of thing they would announce at a celebration.

Should expect to hear more about future films/tv shows/books/etc. though.

I do hope that Episode IX is the biggest thing that people will be talking about after Celebration is over.

As for an original release, I still don’t believe that Disney will release the unaltered trilogy. I understand that it’s a pipe dream that all of us fans, including myself, would love for them to do, but I guarantee that George Lucas made it explicitly clear in the contract to Bob Iger that he does not want the original versions released. To Lucas, the Special Editions are the “true” versions of his trilogy. It is another denial from George to the fans for an unaltered release.

Lucas announced the Blu-Ray Saga at Celebration. The OT in 4K would be a big deal for a lot of folks, regardless of whether the OUT is included.

You may be right about a 4K release, though. Now that The Last Jedi and Solo have a 4K Blu-ray release, it would make sense to do the same for I-VII and Rogue One. We’ll see what happens. On a sad note, I hate hearing about this, but it seems like physical media is coming to an end soon. I hope it doesn’t die, but part of believes it will. Samsung just announced that they’re discontinuing their Blu-ray players not long ago.

There was a hell of a lot less Star Wars news to go around at that time. And SW on blu-Ray then was a much bigger deal than SW on 4K would be now.

Samsung’s departure is being overblown. It’s a crowded market, and they’re better known for their tv sets and phones anyway.

Not everyone can stream to their heart’s content even if they wanted to. Conversation I had with the phone company guy installing my new DSL said it would take an act of Congress to get high speed fiber optic cables installed in areas like where I live. Physical media isn’t going anywhere.

Wake me when they stop making Compact Discs. 😉
