Morannon, I probably won’t be much help, as I have nearly zero experience using Macs. But if you post a screen shot of the error, someone else reading this thread might be able to help.

Do you know how to take a screen shot of the error and post it here?

^I hope that doesn’t look condescending. It’s not meant to be. I just have no way of knowing what your technical skills are. 😉

Hi phildoom,

I’ll be glad to help out, but you’ll have to be more specific about what the problem is.

All the links you’ll need are available if you follow the instructions in the first post of this thread.

Beyond that, I don’t understand what you need.

Hi there, thank you so much for sharing this content. Me and brother are trying to get these files for the first time. Everything was going well until we were burning the ISO file to our blu-ray discs and around half way through the process we got an error, linked below. We were wondering if anyone recognises or understands the error and might be able to help us with the issue. We are using a Pioneer BDR-XD05TS burner and Verbatim BDXL (100GB) BDR discs. Here is a link to a screenshot of the error message, uploaded to Imgur :
https://imgur.com/a/rOceww6

I should add that some of the special features made it onto the disc, however we only viewable on VLC. None of the actual movie was available to watch.

Thanks for your help, really looking forward to watching these editions.

I’m not sure about the error, but even with a successful burn these ISOs do not seem to play with VLC. I have managed to get the extras to work with VLC, but the actual films themselves cause it to crash. (The mkv files are fine with VLC, however.) The films should play fine in a standalone Bluray player, and from memory I believe other posters have had success on their PCs using Leawo Player or PotPlayer software.

I’m not terribly technically proficient, but googling “I/O Error ScsiStatus: 0x02” turns up some mentions of outdated drivers in the help forums. You could check to make sure your drive’s firmware is up to date.

Here’s a YouTube video to help with updating the drivers made specifically with imgburn in mind.

There is also mention of making sure your drive is free of dust, and making sure you got name brand Verbatim discs and not imitation ones.

Another thing to keep in mind if watching from your computer is an option: it is possible to watch the ISOs as if they had been burned, but without using a disc, by mounting it as a vitual drive. The last part of step 10 in the guide in the first post of this thread addresses this.

Also a good free Blu-ray player software to use either for burned discs or mounted ISOs is Leawo. It has worked for me when VLC would not. (It’s been about the only time I’ve found anything that VLC could not handle.)

I posted about it here.

You can get it free for PC here or free for Macs here.

BDXL discs will likely also be incompatible with most devices you’d be using to play the discs. Stick with BD50s.

Didn’t even think to mention that.

I’ve downloaded all 83 RAR files and have them in their separate directory but can’t seem to extract them. I’m using The Unachiver on a mac and have plenty of drive space. I follow the directions and it seems to be extracting the first file (Star Wars Despecialized 2.7 BD50.part001.rar) but never continues on to the second or following files. Just stops. There is an iso file, but it doesn’t have the video in it. Am I doing something wrong?

I’d try WinRAR, but I’m a dolt with command lines. (I tried it, but it doesn’t know what I want.)

Anyone here use 7Zip? I ask because I dl’ed the ESOB, and when I extracted it, I got the message that there were 2 data errors, but I cannot figure out which exact part.

On a side note, THANK YOU for putting this together.

It would appear that the problem in the BD50 of ESB is part 1. I deleted and downloaded it again, and still the same. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Bryce. Winrar doesn’t require you to use command line. Neither does 7-Zip, which should work just as well

Here’s a link that might help getting the files extracted.

Mccann98, that link might be helpful for you as well, but you might also just try some other extractors like Winrar or Peazip.

Thanks. I did download WinRar. When I tried extracting it, I got an error message that part 008 had an error. I downloaded it again and it seemed to work. Thanks for the help.

Another thing, just so you guys (Bryce and mccann98) know. Winrar is effectively free. It has a forty day trial after which a window will pop up that looks like this. But all you have to do is click close, and the program will continue running fully functional for free.

Here’s an article that explains why this is.

Also, do you guys know how to verify a file’s checksum? It’s a fairly quick way to check if a particular rar might be corrupted, and especially if you think a particular file might be causing the problem. Let me know if you would like to know how to do that, and I can help you run those tests if you like.

Well, I foolishly forgot to add that I am using a Mac, which changes everything. Still, WinRAR for Mac needs the command line, but they happily suggested alternatives–one of which was RAR Expander, which worked perfectly. Thanks for your quick responses and help, and thanks to all for this wonderful version!

Solkap, thanks for the advice. It seems that all I needed to do was download part 008 again and that took care of the issue. Working on ROTJ now.

Again, can’t thank you enough for the hard work you put into making this available, as well as the continued support of users such as myself.

Bryce and mccann98, awesome and awesome.

You’re both quite welcome.

BTW, Bryce, you did say you were using a mac. No omissions as far as your post went.

However, I was unaware one needed to use the command prompt for winrar on macs, or really that winrar was even available for macs in the first place. I’ve never used macs. That shortfall is mine. Trust me, my computer skills are perhaps slightly above average at best.

I do now see that this site mentions it, but only in a note about half way down the page.

I’m glad you got it to work and I will keep it in mind that Winrar has no GUI on Macs.

Hi Cycles,

If you’re talking about the stand alone versions of the Despecialized Editions, the only newer version is 2.7 of Episode IV.

Use the steps in “The Ultimate Introductory Guide” and the links found here for it.

If you are talking about the NJVC releases, follow the steps in the first post of this thread.

No.

We are NOT a download or torrent site, and there are no posting of links to direct downloads on here.

Please take the time to look around the site, get a feel for the place, go through the various Despecialized Edition threads - read the guides (plural) on how to obtain them - just like many thousands of others have done so before you.

If you’re having an issue / technical difficulty have a look to see if other have encountered the same or similar difficulties and how they remedied it. If you’re still having issues then let your fellow members know the details of what the problem is… and they may well be able to help you.

Hopefully you’ll appreciate the long, hard and arduous work and effort that went into making the Despecialized Editions, supplying the step-by-step guides, making them available, the improvements made over time etc - along with the many people on here who time and again generously go out of their way to help countless others obtain them and answer any of the technical difficulties others may be experiencing.

And maybe weigh that up to your efforts to having ‘signed up for all this stuff’ and ask ‘…just post the links to mega…

Please also take the time to read threads such as the…

EDIT

I got it to work, the file I was having a problem with is back online now. But, it was down for a couple days.

Slokap, I PMED you as well. But, others might be having this problem too. As of now, I’ve run across having a problem with the ‘Star Wars Despecialized 2.7 BD50.part044.rar’ (mega link that ends in ‘CfM’) file. It will not download with everything I’ve tried. I am not over my transfer speeds either. Hopefully you could re-upload the file?

I will also report back of any other files that have the “Temporary Error” when trying to download them.

Hey guys, I was hoping somebody could give me some advice.

I’ve downloaded the three 25GB movie ISOs, and the three 25GB Special Features ISOs. All six of these have downloaded thru MEGA without any issue.

A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back extracted fine and burned to the discs fine and play in my PS4 fine.

But Return of the Jedi, and all of the Special Features ISOs give me checksum/CRC errors when I try to extract them. I’ve tried using WinZip, 7Zip, and WinRAR and all give me the errors. I’ve tried redownloading the files, but I still get the same extraction errors.

With RotJ, the error seems to occur when the extraction job gets to part25, right at the very end. I’ve tried redownloading that part from the individual MEGA link (as opposed to the folder link) but it didn’t change anything.

I’ve skimmed the forum here most people’s trouble seems to come from downloading (which again, went perfectly smoothly). I haven’t seen many posts about bad checksum or CRC errors.

Is there something I can do to correct this issue?

Thanks so much!

EDIT: Oh, also I did try burning the RotJ ISO, even after the checksum error, and it burned fine and does play on my PS4, but at the chapter where Luke comes to Jabba’s palace, the playback crashes and boots me back to the XMB.
