I am looking into finally abandoning AVCHD for Blu-ray, but I am not sure what brand of disc is best for the money. Anyone here have any suggestions?

Verbatim for me mate - they do printable discs as well as the standard ‘put your maker pen on this’ they have for their dvd discs. Also have quite a range to choose from (25gb / 50gb, single / double sided, various quantities etc).

Like their DVD discs before them… I can’t recall ever having a problem with them, and still work fine years on (so far 😉)

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Seconding Verbatim! Never had any real issues with their discs.

It’s been a while since I’ve bought blank BD’s. When I last got Verbatims I know you had to be careful of the disc ID and who actually manufactured it for them.

I believe you are looking for a disc ID of VERBAT-IMe-000.

Anyone have current info on that?

Good to know, I did some research that said there are 2 different types of Blu-ray Disc LTH and HTL and that the HTL are the better of the 2 because they last longer. Also in the research I did it said that verbatim were LTH discs and therefore not as good as Panasonic discs that product HTL. Granted this information was almost 10 years ago, but I am concerned about longevity of my discs.

Verbatim makes a good BD50, but you have to get the Japanese import, not the ones they sell in the U.S.

Second this. Verbatim discs always and the Japanese import only on BD-50s

I’m looking for an update on the best BD50 at the moment.

Like I said, I recall it being the white 50 pack spindle from Japan (which I believe was 4x), but times change.
Heck, the don’t seem to exist anymore.

Anyone have a recommendation at this point?

Ten or so years ago I read that Panasonic from Japan were the best BD50’s. They’ve been great for me. I don’t see why they would be any different now.
