Yes to the Anthology DVD and Sgt. Pepper 50th recommendations.

I really want a Revolver stereo remix now that takes its cues from the mono mix (which is the only proper way to listen to the album at the moment).

I usually listen to every album up until and including Revolver in Mono. After that I’ll go with Stereo usually since that is around the time that the Beatles actually participated in the mixing for such a release.

The best example of the superiority of the mono mix for Revolver can be found just by comparing it to the lackluster stereo version of Eleanor Rigby.

Eleanor Rigby stereo is atrocious.

Edit: unfortunately I’ve been having to turn the “mono” audio option on my phone on to listen to the pre-Sgt. Peppers albums in mono, since Spotify doesn’t have that version.

Also I love the 50th anniversary remix for Sgt. Peppers and it’s my go-to version for every song except for “She’s Leaving Home”. They sped that one up for some odd reason and it sounds very strange to me.

I also much prefer Let It Be… Naked over the Phil Spector version. I can’t even listen to the original album’s “The Long and Winding Road” anymore.

You can buy the 2014 vinyl mono box set if you really want to. It has all of the original mono mixes fully restored. Downmixing on your phone gets the job done but isn’t the same as listening to the original mono mix that was supervised by the Beatles themselves.

And I’m partial to Let It Be… Naked. I prefer the title track on the original and a few others that I can’t recall but love the inclusion of “Don’t Let Me Down” on Naked among the superior mixing on some other tracks.

just saw that the beatles are going to re-release the white album on nov 9, celebrating its 50th anniversary! i’m pretty excited. 😃

https://twitter.com/thebeatles

“including a super deluxe 7-disc set featuring 50 mostly previously unreleased recordings all newly mixed with 5.1 surround audio as well as the much-sought after Esher Demos”

edit: “Back In The U.S.S.R.”'s 2018 mix is already available in (i think most?) streaming services! it really is superior to the original 1968 stereo mix i might add. good time to be a beatles fan i suppose 😃

i hope that throughout the next decade they do the same thing for the earlier albums’ 60th anniversaries, because those are definitely the ones that need new mixes the most.

I think those were recorded live in studio. I don’t know how much stereo mixes of those could change.

so was Let It Be, but Naked features much better mixes of several songs.

Right, but they were recorded on two-track tape recorders. Let It Be, I’m betting, was not.

hm good point. still though, Rubber Soul and Revolver in particular could definitely use some work.

It’s unfortunate that the 50th anniversary of Yellow Submarine seems to have been poorly publicized if it was promoted at all. I only found out there was a theatrical reissue when I saw it listed in the box office figures over the summer. It doesn’t seem to have played Los Angeles at all, which makes no sense.

I’m sure the Blue Meanies are behind this debacle. 😉

I heard some stuff about it. It played in my nearest city, which is much smaller than LA. So that’s interesting.

The 50th anniversary white album release is very exciting!

I am most excited for the Esher demoes which is basically the unofficial “Beatles - Unplugged”. The remix for Back in the USSR that was released sounded nice and punchy.

The White album is chronologically the first Beatles release that I prefer in stereo. The 2014 mono vinyl releases of the Beatles catalogue are basically the holy grail of my music collection.

And I’m still sitting here waiting for a good stereo mix of Revolver…

For sure, but I’d love to hear a stereo mix of it that isn’t lazy.

Have you guys hard the 2015 re-issue of Beatles 1 (& BD Beatles 1+),…apart from the first 4 or so tracks, which are left as mono, the rest have been re-mixed by Giles,…so nice new proper stereo mixes of Yellow Submarine (which, like the Yellow Submarine Songtrack version, has John Lennon repeating Ringo right from “Life of Ease”, like the mono always did), Eleanor Rigby, Lady Madonna, Penny Lane…etc

…But My top album is Revolver & I’d love to hear the rest of the tracks get a proper stereo mix
