Considering they’re still announcing cast members and there’s only been rumours as to when principal photography is scheduled to begin, I highly doubt they’re even aiming to release this in 2019…

Quality work as ever Tobar 😃

Really been enjoying Season 2 of The Orville so far, and looking forward to Killjoys’ 5th season (though still a bit gutted there’s no more Dark Matter), and also the Picard series too.

Great to see sci-fi on the small screen in force once more. Hope there will soon be confirmation Red Dwarf will return for it’s 13th season this year too 👍

Looking forward to the next season of The Expanse the most

Not limiting myself to 2019 (since some of it’s still up in the air) but currently most looking forward to the below:

  • Godzilla: King of the Monsters
  • The Expanse Season 4 (though need to watch Season 3 still as well)
  • Altered Carbon Season 2
  • Dune

What do I think about the explosion of Sci-Fi - BLOODY AWESOME! Though any of it on the SyFy channel is now always half expected to be cancelled at anytime before it reaches its logical conclusion, so the excitement is always tinged with trepidation. It just lucky due to its own amazing success that The Expanse was saved in being picked up by Amazon.

Science fiction doesn’t interest me as keenly as it once did. I’m more into magic realism these days.

What sort of tv shows and films would come under magic realism?

The Green Mile, Pan’s Labyrinth, and Kurosawa’s Dreams for sure. Twin Peaks in its first two seasons may count as a magic realist TV series.

I might even consider something like Hannibal to be “magical realism” in the more academic sense (theoretically takes place in the real world, but much of it is metaphorically presented or just consisting of entirely implausible/impossible scenarios), but it’s not actually sci-fi or fantasy in any traditional sense.

Maybe “heightened reality” would be a better term for that one.

ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL (2019)

Fantastic experience up on a full sized IMAX screen. Fun film with some of the best fight scenes I’ve seen in a long time. I hope they’re able to do a sequel.

Saw it the same way (last Friday night at Air & Space DC) and you’ve described my feelings on it perfectly.
