Any Battlestar Galactica fans here? — Page 2

With the theatrical version of the pilot out on Blu Ray, (IN SENSURROUND!) I hope the series is in the pipeline.

If you haven't seen the theatrical cut of Galactica 1980, it's pretty hilarious.

That's the one with two Doctor Zees ain't it?

Yes, now there are two of them! They did a little creative dubbing to explain why Cousin Oliver turned into a different super kid genius. Pity he didn't have any scenes with Mike Brady Dr. Mortenson.

Baltar is seen still pursuing the rag tag fleet (via footage from The Magnificent Warriors) with no explanation as to why he hasn't aged like Adama.

There is a tiny bit of footage not seen in the series with Adama making a log entry in his quarters. A photo of Apollo can be seen on his desk.

I finally got around to seeing Blood and Chrome.

A really bitter sweet experience for me as despite it flaws (it's 'a bit formulaic' a lot) it was a lot better than anything the Star Wars prequels had to offer.

It sort of felt like how I'd imagine season 4 of Caprica might have started.

I wanted to see more of a particular new face and it was weird seeing so many old faces playing 'different' roles in exactly the same way (Ty Olsson didn't really modify his Aaron Kelly performance, though i do like look at him. presumably he is playing his dad or something??).

So I completed my run through of Battlestar Galactica a couple weeks ago and just took my first dip into Galactica 1980. So.....I take it a lot of time has passed since the original series. Boomer is an officer now.

Maybe I zoned out or something but who the heck is this Jamie woman? Troy and whatshisface go into town and when they get back that general is searching for them and this Jaime woman is with him. As soon as she gets the chance she addresses Troy by name and knows who they are. I thought she must have been from the Galactica at first but no she's just an earthwoman. When the heck did she meet Troy?

Edit: No wonder I'm confused! Netflix doesn't have the series opener. What the heck!

Here's something weird. The NBC-universal streaming site has this but it ends when they go to New York. I had never seen it before so, now I'm annoyed. I guess I can just watch the wolfman jack episode since that's more or less where it ended but I wanted to see what other goofy edits were made to make this into a "movie".

Caprica had the same problem...

There were a couple of cast duplicates but they were clearly playing very different characters.

Ryan Robbins played two characters in NuGalactica and one in Caprica and none of them remotely resembled each other.

Ty Olsson however was just as his usually lovely self.

^ wow …I just watched both of those reviews last night and now I see you have them posted here ! Those were fun to watch , but I am surprised he left out Wolfman Jack in the Galactica 1980 review .I guess he might be too young to know who that is ?

Or doesn’t listen to the radio, as the Wolfman is still alive on tape in syndication.

However I could barely make it through season 1 of the new show and I couldn’t force myself to see the other seasons. Too much religious crap for me

Now I’m almost tempted to give the reboot a second chance — almost.

I’m just watching BSG on BD. This is my third time, I saw it on TV almost 20 years ago and then I watched in on my free Netflix 5 years ago. The whole box was just under 10€ and it’s been sitting on my shelf for a year, finally decided to watch it. Beautiful quality and well worth the money, this gives me the same feelings as SW still does.

I was reading an article on the new Star Wars comics that oojason posted, and caught this link to a new article in the corner of it, regarding a new Battlestar Galactica series:

‘NBC’s Battlestar Galactica ‘Reboot’ Isn’t a Reboot After All’ - https://www.cbr.com/nbcs-battlestar-galactica-reboot-isnt-reboot

I’d no idea they were even doing a new series, let alone one by Sam Esmail (Mr Robot), and with the endorsement of Ron Moore too. But am very much looking forward to finding out more about it!

The launch date of April 2020 doesn’t seem very far away 😃

How about a buddy comedy about Starbuck and Cy getting on each other’s nerves living on that barren planetoid while Dirk Benedict is still around? It’s be like The Odd Couple only with a robot! 😉

I don’t keep up with industry news very well.
Does anyone know how that Esmail BSG reboot is doing?
