Maybe the idea was tossed around, but I doubt it got as far as phoning up Hayden’s agent.

I’m sure somebody would notice if Hayden hops a flight to the UK anytime soon. 😉

It actually might work if Anakin comes to Kylo: considering he is around Kylo’s age and was tempted by the dark side as well at this time of his life.

He wasn’t Kylo’s age when he died.

What if he appears as as old Shaw Anakin, (whom Kylo fails to recognize) and morphs into young Hayden Anakin?

Yeah, the ST has made it 2/3 of the way through without referencing anything about the OT that’s version-specific.

Was there ever any truth to that rumor from two years ago about Hayden as ghost Anakin showing up in TLJ?

Nope. Johnson has mentioned that he basically decided against the possibility completely as soon as he thought of it. I think the rumors started from a piece of concept art from TFA. But even then it was never seriously considered - the concept artists always come up some of their own ideas during development that sometimes get worked in, but that piece never made it past that one artist’s rendering as far as I can tell (well, I guess it ended up in the Art Of book).

Fascinating.

Yoda showing up was pretty much the only thing I spoiled for myself that turned out to be true aside from finding out in the wake of Carrie’s death that Leia ends up in a coma with Laura Dern’s character in charge, but even then I had no idea there would be this “on the run” storyline and just assumed they’d be down on D’Qar the whole time.

Actually, the spoiler I was really kicking myself for reading after peaking into the TLJ spoiler thread a little over a year ago - that Rey would lose a hand in true middle-chapter-of-the-trilogy tradition - turned out not to be true at all.

Was that second bit in response to my post about returning to this thread?

Not at all, and like I said it was within six months before TLJ hit theaters that I ended up reading that spoiler (which turned out to be fake), not more than a year out like we are now with Episode IX.

I’m wondering now where that story originated.

I read the spoilers for TLJ at about this point and they were on one hand fairly accurate and on the other wildly misleading. Some things were in the final film and some I can’t imagine ever being part of the story. It really depends on the quality of sources and how distorted the information has become.

Was the fake spoiler about Rey losing a hand in TLJ even a fake spoiler or did I stumble into mere speculation when I dipped into that thread last year?

I’m pretty sure it was joke.

Anyway, you guys seem to be backing up my idea that there will be so many fake leaks that it hardly matters even when there are real ones because you won’t be able to tell. Of course, set pictures are the exception. I also have yet to see fake concept art leaks (that I know of), although I don’t see why they couldn’t be faked. Regardless, concept art is often wildly different from the finished product.

Hasn’t fan art been mistaken for concept art in the past? I could see JJ and company leaking something for laughs that’s blatantly ridiculous, but people would fall for it anyway.
I can only recall one instance of someone working on the OT putting a fake spoiler out there.

EP IX SPOILERS…

Feast upon on this storyboard for the final scenes of IX below, not only that but tying up the whole saga too…

Take it in, consider the thematic merits, revel in all it’s spoilerific glory, it’s impact upon culture for years to come:-

Cue the moaning gits - ‘oh it’s on Tatooine again - come up with something original, why don’t you? Disney has ruined Star Wars!’ or something 😉

If someone can put that up on Youtube and monetise it (usual stuff: ‘RJ is a manbaby - proof!’, ‘Kathleen Kennedy is secret SJW President of the WOORRRLLLLDDDD! - admitted in her own words’, ‘JarJar Abrams IS Mike Zeroh - pic exclusive’, etc) I’m willing to share any profits! PS - Don’t tell anyone if we rearrange a few words and issue it as a new video featuring the same content & claims - all for repeat hits - keep that bit quiet. Ta, muchly.

This clearly shows the colour scheme of Boba Fett. Coincidence? I think not.

What are you talking about?! It’s clearly referring to him being in Smash Bros!

The speculation I’m reading is a return to Jedha or Jakku. Jedha sort of seems less likely given what happened in Rogue One.

Jakku makes sense story wise. “Why does everyone want to go back to Jakku?” and all that.

Going back to Jakku would let them explore who Rey’s parents were. Are they really dead? Really nobodies? But I think Jedha would make more sense in terms of the saga. If Rey isn’t a Skywalker, her parentage is of no importance.

The most desolate hole in the galaxy being very important would be ironic and funny.

Maybe the Rebels are so desperate for ships that they start patching up those old wrecks? I still have that mental image of an OT era Star Destroyer with a Rebel logo painted on the hull.

I was perfectly happy with the reveal of Rey’s parents being nobody case closed, move along. If they keep insisting with this nonsense then fuck this movie.

Kylo could be lying. But my guess is if they do anything, they will be revealed to be no-one connected to any family previously in the saga (aka nobodies) but they might be significant in other ways and in any case, they were significant to Rey as they were her parents. But to assume Kylo was not lying in some way (the best Sith lies have been shrouded in truth but used to forward their own agenda) is a mistake.

Author

Again, I ask. How could Kylo be lying when Rey is the one that reveals they were nobody?

KYLO REN: Do you wanna know the truth about your parents? Or have you always known? And you’ve just hidden it away. You know the truth. Say it. Say it.
REY: They were nobody.

Maybe he’s lying about them being dead and buried but that they were nobody came straight from Rey’s own mouth.
