This is probably a ridiculous question, but is it possible to get the boxes that some DVD collections come in by themselves?

My current delimma is that I own the Collector Editions of Star Treks 1-4, but really want the nifty box all 6 original series movies come in. I've been holding out on buying 5-6 to weigh my options. I'm certainly not going to buy the six-pack when i have 2/3 of the films already. So again I ask, is there somewhere I could obtain just the box?

None that I know of. I buy a lot of anime so the situation is similar. In those cases, some companies sell them seperately online. You might want to try contacting Paramount. Thing is, the boxes are used as incentive to spend more at once(of on one release like most animes). Hence why I resist buying boxes unless the extras are great like a soundtrack.

There's only been a couple of situations I know of where a video label has made the box for a box set available. One is the Jurassic Park movies, and the other is... I forgot.

I think you can get the boxes - though you will have to be able to run faster than the store security guards

Are the boxes unique to Trek, or do any other Paramount releases in the 'bargain bucket' section use the same boxes - a bit extreme, but do-able?

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

They just did it recently at Best Buy for the Kill Bill set. If you purchased both, you could get a free box for them. Kinda nice. I should have done it. But I didn't like 2 as much as I liked 1.

i got the LOTR box for the theatrical versions by preordering ROTK at future shop..

I should've gotten something like that, though I didn't like the box for the theatricals that much. If they had designed a box looking more like the Extended Editions, I would care more.

ya the box they gave away for the theatrical versions werent that great....
it would have been much nicer if they didnt include the cover work for each movie on it...
but at least their all together now...

Nope. Still only have FOTR. I like ROTK less and less each time I think about it.

ya i was somewhat let down by ROTK...
im hoping the EE will help.. except for the much longer ending its going to have..

is there any official listing of what scenes are going to be put back in?
i havent heard much news on the ROTK EE...

I suspect that if you phoned the customer service line, and then told them you got whatever box set, but the box was damaged, that they'd send you a new one. Sneaky and underhanded, but it'll probably work. New Line replaced a bunch of boxes for the Two Towers when the wrong kind of glue was used to attatch the bonus material list to the back of the extended edition boxes

i only sat there pealing that thing off for about an hour... but thankfully it came off perfect with no flaws...
they did the same thing with one of the simpsons seasons...
