Taking a stand against toxic fandom (and other )

These people deserve to be called out as the abhorrent jerks they are. Seriously, this is a series of fictional films! People are sending death threats and behaving like absolute nobs just because someone made a star war they didn’t like, or wrote a story they felt was boring, or were a bit confused by all the long words they used.

It’s time these “fans” chilled the **** out and realised their sense of entitlement doesn’t give them the right to troll and abuse people whose only “crime” was to try to make something others would enjoy. It sickens me to see Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran forced to close down their Instagram accounts because idiots think it’s their right to post hateful dribble at them when they post a photo, just because they were in Star Wars.

Meanwhile shows like RFR and Geeks and Gamers pander their self important drivel to these dregs of the community in a wholly transparent attempt to get more subscriptions and likes. Seriously, remember what this harassment has done to Jake Lloyd?

Kelly Marie Tran has nothing to do with the problems of the movie. No one should be personally harassed for their professional work. Geez, this just makes me sad.

Who came out with the claim that she was harassed? I can’t find her statement on it anywhere, only articles based on speculations. But if it’s true, I fully agree - I think TLJ is the worst Star Wars movie (yes, I think the prequels are better), but I would NEVER EVER go and attack (physically or verbally) anybody involved with the production, that’s just really, really dumb. What happened to the good old “vote with your wallet” thing? AKA “if you don’t like it, don’t buy it”? That’s the only reasonable approach in my not so humble opinion, going after somebody makes you look like a lunatic

• Why didn’t Luke go personally to confront Darth Vader Junior?
• Why did Luke die? Especially in such a stupid and confusing way?
• Why was Yoda in this movie? Why is he acting as his stupid self from the beginning of Empire, where he PRETENDED he is stupid to test Luke? Why does he have the power to call lighting? Why did he prevent Luke from burning down the thing by burning down the thing himself?

Seriously, the whole movie was a giant WTF. Everything felt so forced and pointless. At least it looked beautiful.

The “dumb Asian woman” comment was pretty rude from me, I agree, but it was about the character, NOT about the actress. That’s what I’m talking about, there is a pretty big difference between being angry at a movie and “going after” people involved with its production, whether it’s the actors or somebody working behind the camera.

I know this is not the point of this thread, but wow, that is an absurd list of ignorant questions with pretty obvious answers. I understand people not enjoying this film, but I’m hearing a lot from people who think up all sorts of petty bullshit to take it down.

All the toxic talk around the new films has just made me not interested in wanting to follow any of it anymore.

I think Frink misunderstood my points and attacked me a bit about it. But I really hate all this political agenda group shite and it unfortunately should be lumbered in with the likes of “Fake News” and be restricted from saturating social media but I quit social media also because it’s Fake and unsociable and has created phone zombies.

But I agree with Frink even though I think he mis-understood me… 😉
