Hi!

First post here - just wanted to share the sentiments of others here in saying that I really appreciate the effort you are going to to preserve these films! I've gone and made a second donation to the cause, and will try to do the same each month.

Thought you might be interested in this laserdisc player which is currently in Ebay:

Cheers!

Great find Mugsy - maybe the lads at the X0 project could come to some sort of arrangement to 'hire' the ld player for a few weeks - if they didn't want/need it permanantly...

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com | Introduce yourself in here | Useful info within : About : Help : Site Rules : Fan Project Rules : Announcements
How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com - includes info on how to ask for a fan project and how to search for projects and threads on OT•com.

A Project Index for Star Wars Preservations (Harmy’s Despecialized & 4K77/80/83 etc) : A Project Index for Star Wars Fan Edits (adywan & Hal 9000 etc)

Take your time to look around this site before posting… Do NOT just lazily make yet another ‘link request’ post - or a new thread asking for projects.

Thanks for the links and kind words guys.
Unfortunately that is one of the continents none of us are on...it is a bit of a drive to chelmsford, and I'd have to pump the tyres up quite a bit to get across the oceans.
Feel free to PM us or e-mail us if you see any players around though, a couple of us travel quite a bit with work.
Importing an X0 or x9 costs around $1000 on top of the purchase price by the time insurance, shipping and duties are paid, so we probably won't be dragging any back from OS just yet.
We have enough work to do on the capture we are working on right now to keep us busy for a while...

One thing I really really really need right now is a service manual or technical manual for the pioneer CLD 2950 laserdisc player. If any of you web gurus can hunt one of those down, I'll put you in my will...

Check your e-mail.

I'm sorry the X0 links didn't help, but I hope the one I sent in your e-mail will help.

The starfield thing was one of those 2am ideas that we weren't sure would fly, and it was immensely satisfying when the stars popped back into existence after the first code run!

Very much look forward to receiving any code you're willing to share, I'm curious to see what the starfield cleanup code does to the PAL LD footage and how it copes when they're moving instead of (supposed to be) static.

The 2am ideas thing, yeah I know about that one, I think it was a late night years ago when I was trying to code autosterograms from scratch (nobody would share their code online) that I figured out that one line of code that did the trick to making my own 'magic eye' pictures.

I'm glad I'm not the only idiot that spent his time reverse engineering the whole Magic eye thing, I even went as far to work out an animated version of it that nearly sent me blind. For a while there I couldn't look at any repeating pattern without it flipping into 3D, security doors, grills, wallpaper.. I had to stop 'freeviewing' for a while.

Thanks for all the links guys, but the forum owners probably don't want us filling the forum with 'free ads' for ebay auctions, so it might be best to PM or e-mail them.

We had a play with the starfield recovery on the PAL discs, it did noticably beef up the star count, but not as drastically - which is to be expected as less were 'missing' to start with.
Re the 'movement' I do a tracking pass in shake so that you don't just end up with that sort of problem.

I could only find it here:

http://www.schaltungsdienst.de/gb/katalog.html

Search for cld2950

I think I also saw it on another site some time ago but I did'nt bookmark it and now I can't find irt again

Anyway, are you going to modify the 2950 for a better composite output?

I have the cld-515 schematics and it seems simple enough to connect a video amp and 75 ohms buffer before or after the TBC circuit, but I guess the 2950 might not have or use the TBC-DAC for the composite at all, but if the DAC is there it could be a simple mod.

(in all seriousness, take your time. I know how important it is to get stuff done as best as possible instead of rushing it)

Umm... I don't remember any mailboxes being part of the Cheat Commandos cartoons... or a revolution for that matter.

That will have to be remedied immediately! Quickly, go watch absolutely everything at HomestarRunner.net... it's dot com!

Or you could Cheat and just see the action figures, the cereal and the... product placement!

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!
