I’m a huge fan of George Lucas

Having only partly read his biography so far, seeing his recent speech for Mark’s walk of fame star and recent events with TLJ, I don’t view Lucas in a such a harsh light anymore as I come to understand him (which is still not much, he’s an odd one for sure), his history and his motives a little more. I still hate many of the changes he made in the OT and the PT are still bad movies once you grow out of childhood memories but he’s done far more right than wrong IMHO, especially when measured against RJ and TLJ.

Dude, come on, this is pathetic even for you. I don’t know how how much more obvious this can be. I’m not sure if you’re just grasping at straws here or if you legitimately don’t have a sense of humor and/or have trouble decoding social interactions (in which case I apologize). But this is ridiculous. Mark wasn’t even supposed to be at this panel, I don’t think he had any obligation to show up. The two are very clearly good friends.

VAL, i think you are projecting your own hate onto this.

I think banter between an actor and director, (playful or otherwise) far removed from the set of the film goes a bit beyond the realm of critique and discussion of the actual film here.

Some fans are so eager now to paint RJ as this horrible monster who took a steamer on Star Wars, they will latch onto anything to support that argument. I fully expect RJ to be accused of indirectly causing Carrie Fisher’s death if this keeps up. 😕

Which is why I asked why I should care. Certainly in the context of this thread, it doesn’t matter in the slightest what the two guys think of each other.

Rian and Carrie really got along well. I wish she was here so she could let loose on the complainers.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I wish she was still around too. I imagine she would use a lot stronger phrase than scruffy looking nerf herder.

People (not saying who) would just claim that she secretly hates Rian just like Mark does.

If I knew they hated each other it would make me enjoy the movie a bit less. Technically the movie would be the same, but as a fan it feels better to know that the people involved had a good time. And it certainly seems like they did.

As long as one of them isn’t a literal criminal, I don’t care how they feel about each other on a personal level. The movie stands on its own.

Unlike all you QC people, I had to wait to get home from work to watch what all the hullabaloo is about. Can only imagine what defective products reach the market because of OT. I liked seeing the back-and-forth and Luke’sHamill’s reaction to the Jedi library scene. It matched my own so it’s true! But unless there is a deleted scene where Rian hits Hamill with his chair I don’t have any notion what Val is on about.

Neat! Not sure I noticed the smily face before.
And Kubrick film reference for the win.

If you use cables with plenum jacketing that we made, they might be slightly softer than the spec says. Also your boot soles might not have quite the tensile strength they technically should, but tensile strength is kind of an irrelevant spec for shoe soles anyway.

No more plenum jacketing for me!

I never fuck around with the minimum LOI spec (the measurement of how fire resistant it is), though. I got into it with my boss last year when he tried to pass some stuff I rejected for that reason.

If you have a music only track doesn’t that mean you can do an inversion method to eliminate all music in the channels? I thought I heard something about that a while back.

I’ve been lately seeing a number of Youtube vids in which people have stripped various film scenes of their music. I haven’t a clue how they did it.

You have to ask yourself - why would Mark actually be happy about killing of the past, his past and a character he has been the active custodian of for 40 years and had to think of it as “Jake Skywalker” in order to play the part?

Um, this just popped into my head: what if a radical TLJ reedit had “Luke” actually be Luke’s previously unknown twin brother? Such a thing could easily explain his hiding-out and reluctance to train anyone. I know at first blush it sounds crazy, but . . . .

I’m on the same page. I more feel sorry for the guy, actually. I mean, he did make some terrible moves with the PT, but it occurs to me that the bones of a good story are there, if only the scripts had been tweaked a bit, a couple different casting choices, and most importantly a different director(s).

Wow. I have half a mind to report that post. And not in the usual jokey “Reported!” way.
