How about Peter Leia-Pan?
I am so sick of the Leia Poppins thing. The comparison makes no sense at all.

Leia: *uses the Force in space, where there would be no strong gravity or resistance, to pull slightly so she could float back on board*
people: omg Leia can FLY now the Force can’t make people FLY what is this RUINED FOREVER.

To be fair what makes me go “eh?” is that I’m 100% sure she died and came back to life, therefore BS.

You forgot the angry shaking of the fist at Kathleen Kennedy by some people mate 😉

100% sure, you say.
Did you hear it was Kathleen Kennedy who put marry popins Leia in the flim
Did you hear that?
From whom?
Also please use capitalization, punctuation, and proper spelling.

One does not die instantly in space. NASA had done a of research on this, (don’t ask how) and Stanley Kubrick used that data for the airlock scene in 2001. Even Guardians Of The Galaxy is fairly on the money in depicting exposure to a vacuum, and those characters were outside a lot longer than Leia.

I think it’s a big misunderstanding to say that Kathleen Kennedy put that scene in the film but I’ve seen a few people suggest that. What Rian said was that Kathleen was interested in seeing Leia show force powers, it’s a stretch to believe that Kathy decided how they should be shown. She would leave the writing to the writer.
That section of the interview starts at about 19:20.

But that doesn’t fit into the “Star Wars sucks because of Kathleen Kennedy” narrative.

If you prove them wrong they just revert back to the “Star Wars sucks because of Rian Johnson” narrative which is a part of the larger “Star Wars just plain sucks” narrative so there’s not much to gain here.

For a second I left this page on the screen and forgot which thread it was. Then I realised it was somehow not the other worst thread.

Nice that they gave her some Force-related scenes but they didn’t bother to make her relevant to the plot other than being an RotJ Ackbar-like character like in TFA (what I mean is: she’s the boss of the rebel band… and that’s it). These are the priorities.
Honestly, how is this a big improvement over RotJ? Or even the entire OT? Because Leia didn’t have a character arc in the OT other than a devolution of her character in the Jabba scenes (“Who cares about the galaxy? I must save my love interest!”). And the twist in RotJ had no impact to the story other than two bits of the climax (the Vader-Luke duel and solving the love triangle after the destruction of the second Death Star). And it’s quite sad how Han and Luke gets all the attention in the ST, even after leaving the rest of the galaxy at the mercy of the First Order, but Leia remains all the whole time, creates a paramilitary force and warns the New Republic and yet she’s mostly a background character in these movies.
Sorry, I’m really disappointed with how they have handled the female characters in the Disney movies. They’re not really a huge improvement compared with the Lucas era, other than being more in number, technically being the main protagonists and the lack of sexualization/forced romance.

I think Carrie Fisher is on record as saying that Episode 9 was to be ‘her’ film? (in regards of the 3 main OT cast… Han got most of the scenes in TFA, Luke had most of TLJ, and that IX would Leia’s) - obviously, and sadly, that is no longer going to be the case.

That’s what I’ve heard too. It makes sense to give them “one movie each” like that, since the sequel trilogy isn’t mainly about them. If the three of them had big roles in the same movie there would be a lot less room to develop the new main characters. It’s very sad that we won’t get to see what Ep 9 had in store for her.
Well, if that’s the case… s***.
There was that fan theory that each OT character would die in each new movie, with probably Luke being the last one. Yet… I still don’t like Leia being a background character in TFA and TLJ, even if IX was to be her film.

I guess in the same way that SW was Obi-Wan’s, TESB was Yoda’s and RotJ was Vader’s.

The Star Wars Show shows off a deleted scene!
Good news:
The time code is outside the image.
Bad news:
The effects are unfinished, so it would take a lot of work to make it useable.
Perhaps other deleted scenes are in better condition, if they’re not effects heavy.

It’s a nice scene but probably unfixable for any fans. It’s one of the few settings in the movie with such heavy background compositing though, off the top of my head I doubt too many of the other scenes will be in this kind of shape.
Never underestimate the ability of someone here or on FE to finish a deleted scene!
I wish they had left that scene in.

I sure hope someone can. It’s so much better than what ended up in the final cut.
