Hey There,

Heres an update of my custom set. Finally got the positioning right to fit the covers perfectly in the 15mm Criterion Blu-ray boxes and was able to track down some higher resolution art for the back. As for the inside/reverse, I printed them with the Noriyoshi Ohrai collage style prints. All in all, pretty happy with the results. Hope you enjoy.

Anyway to get a PM for this set?

@Tyler0013, you’re using the Special Edition Empire logo for Empire on the spine, but for Return of the Jedi, it’s the classic logo on the spine, are you aware of that? Nice work though, I like the design. It reminds me of the VHS covers that were widescreen in Silver for the Special Editions.

Yeah, I do lol. Since the Art itself is reminiscent of the Special Edition I didn’t think it to be an issue haha.

Well, instead of doing the covers I posted above, I decided to take a bit of an alternate route with them. I took a few of the pictures for each cover and change the “threshold” for each on GIMP. I put a few things together here and there, added one color to text only, and use the paint & eraser tool. The result is my brand new set for the OT (doesn’t matter which version). It’s bold on my part, and me be something of a required taste, but I like the end result. So here they are. Use them if you are into a style like this. I’ll definitely be using them:

These are for standard 12mm (or 12.5mm) cases.

Oh man, those are awesome! Nice work! I especially like the way the front art for Jedi turned out.

Hey folks,

I, too, have been inspired by Harmy’s despecs to create some cover art. These are the first movie covers I have put together, but I am enjoying it and think they are coming along well.

Like EyeShotFirst, I am using the older artwork (always my favorite), but with slightly different takes (framing, color balance, banners, etc.). I used color corrected lightsabers more accurate for the films. ROTJ was already done in the source image, and the SW77 one I did. All of the poster images came from the Hi-Res Cover Art thread, and the screenshots I took straight from Harmy’s edits in VLC.

For the spines, I went more with a 2006 DVD look. You can’t tell, but the sequels use a font called “Episode I” with “Depecialized Edition” below in the same typeface as on SW77.

They are not quite done, as I have to do the backs and write the copy for TESB and ROTJ and finish the specs, credits, and fine print for all three, but they should be finished soon.

As these are my first covers, feedback is appreciated.

Looks like the ‘Open Sans’ font to me.

https://typekit.com/fonts/open-sans and type in ‘DESPECIALIZED EDITION’ 😃

Does anyone have working links to Harmy’s Blu-ray covers? The links on the first page aren’t working for me. The only one I can find with a Google image search is Episode IV.

Excellent! Thank you. I think I came across that link in my search, but made the assumption is was only the cover for Episode IV since IV was the thread topic. I appreciate the help.
