Alden is 5’9" and Harrison is 6’1", so I guess it’s ok.

Never mind that the first ship interior we ever saw in Star Wars was pretty antiseptic looking. 😉

We’re seeing a factory fresh freighter here. By the OT the Falcon is that car with a faded dusty interior, with big cracks in the dashboard and holes where stereo speakers used to be.

Oof… They’ve Trek’09ed it.

I don’t think it’s too fair a comparison. This is after all the Falcon when it was Lando’s ship. And it makes a lot of sense that a ship belonging to a guy who owned a place that looked like this, would own a ship that looked like the EW picture above, as opposed to the ANH screenshot (which is more appropriate for two smugglers less concerned about aesthetics).

We haven’t really gotten that good of an idea what the rich and classy looked like in SW, apart from the PT. After all the OT mostly focused on military bases and backwater places like Tatooine. The closes we got was Cloud City, which was very shiny and elegant. But even that was referred to as a “small mining operation.”

We just saw a planet of filthy rich people in TLJ. Classy is up for debate. 😉

Oh, no doubt. It’s just seeing the Falcon looking THAT nice somehow feels a little off… As you said, it’s a freighter, not a luxury vessel. I work in transportation and see shipping vehicles (trucks, planes, loading equipment, etc.) regularly. Even brand new cargo vehicles have a very utilitarian aesthetic. That ship looks downright posh.

Again, I don’t HATE it and I’m willing to accept it. But it’s definately not how I would’ve done it and it feels a bit fake which seems slightly disingenuous when the OT (especially Star Wars itself) looked and felt so REAL.

Well we don’t know what purpose the Falcon is serving at this time. Could be Lando’s mobile bachelor pad.

Some trucks look NEAT, so I don’t know if that’s an excuse. I must say I didn’t even think that was the Falcon at first though.

You know, that’s a good point with the personally owned freight trucks… I’m looking at the interior from the point of view of large transportation companies with fleets of (nearly) identical utilitarian vehicles. The Falcon is a privately owned and operated cargo vessel. Alright, fine. I’ll concede. The interior is fine and does indeed make sense.

But I still don’t like what they did to the mandibles, gosh darn it!! 😛

More like his pimp ship 😛

At first I was thinking that maybe the artist of that poster simply made a mistake, however taking a closer look at the teaser, the poster looks accurate to how the Falcon is in ‘Solo’ (what a boring movie title).

There is one very vague line I’ve pointed a red arrow at that may be where the docking mandibles (as we know them) end and the compartment filling the gap between them starts which I guess means that it not only fills the gap but extends onto the end of the mandibles themselves to give this more angular design that doesn’t have the iconic snub / flat ended mandibles, something like the below example:

So, on some other communities I’m in, we brought up the question of what the other of the transformation of the Freighter into the falcon is.

How likely is the first thing that’s going to go is the light above the table?

Lando’s personal ship post ROTJ, the Lady Luck is very posh indeed. (You could walk around the interior in Jedi Outcast) I think it’s the only spaceship I’ve seen with carpeting outside of Star Trek!

I can imagine the Falcon having once looked like that, but the idea that Han and Chewie managed to practically destroy the interior in just 10 years does seem to be more than a stretch.

I get that they are probably total slobs and have had to make a lot of emergency repairs, but… damn!

Also, I would expect Lando to be shocked by its dilapidated appearance in Empire.

Well, Lando does refer to him as loser to Chewie. I’m okay with it being pristine, I mean Lando is a ladies man, and he wants to keep things new and fresh.

Think of it like this, Han is not worried about the appearance of the ship, that doesn’t pay the bills, speed is all he cares about, he modified the ship to get cargo from one side of the galaxy to the other in a hurry, not be in a best looking ship contest. He’s a pirate, not the Imperial Navy. He doesn’t follow rules, he makes his own.

In the NPR version, Luke comments on the condition of the ship’s interior when they’re en route to Alderaan (one of my favorite parts because it expands on what little we see in the film). Anyway, Ben points out to him that “this is a working freighter Luke, even if her activities are on the shady side”. Imagining all sorts of craziness over the course of a decade, I can see it getting to the point of someone saying "what a piece of junk".

Aye, and all those modifications likely took a toll on it’s appearance too - maybe there is no space Ikea, or endless tv home improvement programs, in Star Wars 😃

(I can’t picture Han and Chewy breaking out the bucket and mop too often. Coming soon - limited edition Han Solo action figure with blaster array of cleaning utensils 😉)
